Bad Omen

So Eun was taken aback for a while, clearing his throat once again. Immediately gathered thoughts of excuses in his mind, yet in the end, he gave up and decided to be honest.

"The ceremony has somehow been delayed. His Majesty is busy handling some affairs. It cannot be helped." After he'd revealed the truth, Dong-Hyun was on the edge of speaking some words again while squinting his eyes at the Deity, as if his whole existence was a lie. But after hearing his words, his expression turned dumbfounded.

"Handling some affairs??" His mood appeared rather solemn. Looking down at the small pond, So Eun's eyebrows furrowed because of that reaction, and became even more eager to ask questions.

"Yes, that was why I came back quickly after seeing those performers." He didn't know if the youth knew about Deities enough to answer his question, but the atmosphere instantly turned somber.

"Well... This is a first." Dong-Hyun replied.

So Eun turned to look at him and waited for him to speak. But the teenager exhaled a deep breath and stare at So Eun intently.

"I remember reading one of the books about... Deities and..... It is a bad omen to miss it." He avoided the look that So Eun gave him and lowered his head.

"Bad omen? It is not my problem that I missed it?" He gravely said, tilting his head in confusion.

"Do not worry! Something like this never happened before, so we can assure you that a bad omen wouldn't happen!" Dong-Hyun wiggled his hands in front of him while smiling timidly.

"I already met the Adrift Soul Demon, is that a bad omen?" So Eun inwardly thought.

When he didn't reply and his expression gradually showed his stony-faced, Dong-Hyun eagerly spoke again to reassure him.

"I said do not worry! I will be your escort from now on. I knew that statement from the book wasn't a fact because it doesn't happen before!" Then, So Eun helplessly turned to look at him and smiled lightly.

"I am not afraid, perhaps I met the Adrift Soul Demon already." He casually said, as if that title was merely a feeble ghost to him.

Dong-Hyun emitted a gasp, his hands covering his mouth. So Eun was a little too not surprised, getting used to it.

"The Adrift Soul Demon, Nan Yang?! You eliminate him already?!" Eh? So Eun just watched him displaying his eyes full of admiration and devotion. Then he felt bad about it.

"Don't misunderstand. I am not yet familiar with my ability and that ghoul somehow didn't harm me, which makes it so unusual. Do you know anything about him?" After his sentence, Dong-Hyun stopped whatever he was doing and appeared to be gloomy again. The duality of this kid, So Eun never imagined a kind of person before. He smiled at the thought and paid more attention.

After a few moments, Dong-Hyun widened his eyes as if he'd remembered something peculiar. So Eun was deliberately getting relaxed with the teenager's habits, which was somehow amusing. He sent gratitude inwardly towards the Heavens since he's not dealing with a Ghost right now.

"Nan Yang did-did he said something to you? Something that... you didn't know anything about?" That completely piqued So Eun's interest and he nodded attentively, a name suddenly popped up in his mind.

"The Adrift Soul Demon is a powerful Ghoul that the Heavens proclaim hard to deal with and a mere nuisance to the mortal and demon realm. That was because his favorite doings were to snatch souls from the people who were sleeping." Dong-Hyun trembled and attempted to hug his small figure. So Eun was a bit taller than him but he didn't notice the movements when he was occupied with something.

Dong-Hyun stepped closer to So Eun when he felt the cold breeze dancing around them, before speaking.

"Nan Yang also has the liking to devour ghosts that have a lower level than him. It is still unknown why he does that to his kind but I very much know it has a reason." He placed his fist under his chin, So Eun went silent and let Dong-Hyun continue.

"It's not entirely as of him causing trouble, that made him a pain in the neck. It was likely because he has an extraordinary trait that no beings could possess, except him." So Eun was now completely intrigued and hoping the younger wouldn't behave exaggeratedly, and just go straight to the point.

"Please don't leave me hanging, what was his unique trait?" So Eun begged but Dong-Hyun did not look at him. He didn't expect the following words that came out of his mouth.

"He can see someone's future through their eyes... and it would not hinder him even if you're a God." He resolutely said, looking as if he was contemplating something important.

So Eun, however, went frozen in his place. He didn't see it coming. All the answers that the Ghoul refused to give him, were provided by a single young servant. So Eun believed that this Ghoul was in fact, popular among the mortal realm. His mind was currently in a tangled mess, connecting the critical parts.

"When he looked at your eyes and blurted out someplace you didn't know, it's more likely he saw your future. Does that happen to you when you encountered him?" Dong-Hyun continued and turned to look at So Eun.

After Dong-Hyun spoke, his heart pounded in his chest, as if something had slammed it aggressively. He remembered the name.

Han Min. Was it him?

So Eun widened his eyes, his both hands, sweating even more. That explains why Nan Yang reminded him to come back whenever he wants, he knew that So Eun will eventually learn his capability to see someone's future. And a Deity's mission would benefit from it, especially if it's not merely about the future, but the past of someone.

So Eun assumed that if he could see someone's future, it was no doubt he could see someone's past too. And maybe he was determined to prove it.

He clenched his fist and fiercely turned around, which emitted a surprised sound from Dong-Hyun, who instantly stopped him.

"So Eun! Where are you going? Did that happen?" He followed So Eun but stayed a distance away behind him when the Deity halted in his tracks.

"Thank you for your time, Dong-Hyun. But I have something important to do." So Eun replied. Attempting to walk forward again. The teenager called in alarm which made him turn his head to look.

"Wait! You're gonna find him here? You must not! His Majesty will confront the Demon King, it's dangerous to roam around!" At that moment, So Eun was already adamant and made a firm decision to do something, yet when the youth mentioned the Demon King. The unwavering voice in his heart faltered, causing him to forcibly change tactics.

"But I need to find him." So Eun replied, yet he didn't move an inch.

Dong-Hyun thought the Deity considered his words, thus he exhaled a sigh of relief. Yet, he reacted too soon, So Eun turned around again and moved out of the Palace's borders. The youth couldn't do anything but stay by his side and constantly followed him, even if the warnings are important to go wary of. He wanted to make sure their Deity wouldn't bump into troubles.

Until they arrived at the crowded streets of Tipolo.
