A Glimpse of An Old Friend

"Oh! Oh! Your Highness Yeonbin! Can I come too?" So Eun hadn't replied yet, but then another voice came up. Of course, it was none other than Dong-Hyun, who strode beside So Eun and placed his decent grin at Yeonbin.

Gim Yeonbin was fair and dignified, overflowing spiritual powers had that energy of him to have the potential of an astonishing God. So Eun acknowledged that idea when he knew this Deity could somehow replace the throne of the Emperor.

And that is kind of absurd of him. What, he only had met two Deities in a row, what is he doing ranking them by how powerful they are?

He shook his head instead and shut his mouth. Unsure of what to say now. Or more embarrassed of the words that may have fallen out of his mouth.

Yeonbin didn't answer, but to So Eun's amusement, he scrutinized Dong-Hyun starting from his foot to his face. Before speaking sternly,

"A mortal shouldn't come. It may cause casualties, and we wouldn't guarantee that you will be safe throughout the journey."

He answered before turning around to command the palace guards to cease the husky guy too. Dong-Hyun was silent for a while, his face was rough to decipher when So Eun observe him.

To make it concise, So Eun was having a hard time perceiving if he is on the verge of crying because of the grim tone of voice he'd just received. Or he was near screaming his heart out of the euphoria of having been noticed by one of the Deities he admired.

So Eun rested his arm on his shoulder. Not because he wanted to comfort him, but because he couldn't keep the laughter that was bubbling to get out.

Dong-Hyun looked at him with that strange expression, his face growing weird after he saw his face that was much more hilarious at this point. He suddenly doesn't know what was happening.

After a while of not speaking between the two, Yeonbin moved and stared at So Eun.

"We should go, So Eun. I can lend you a horse if you don't mind." Yeonbin went straight at the horses that were brought by the servants. Lifting himself onto the stallion.

So Eun straighten up and cleared his throat, walking forward to the horse that Yeonbin offered.

"I don't mind. Thank you for the help." He bowed while looking up at Yeonbin, who gave him an indifferent look.

But before he can adjust himself to riding a horse for the first time, Dong-Hyun stepped forward and pressed his side to him. Leaning over to whisper something in his ear.

"So Eun, that's what I'm saying." He muttered. So Eun looked at him enough with a question of "What?"

"He's looking at you with that look on his face as if a Deity who hasn't been blessed as one was not deserving of its title. I suggest to him that it isn't good to glare at your kind as if you're superior. We are all humans, we are all equal." Dong-Hyun said, his face showing his mood of annoyance. So Eun was surprised at that. He didn't expect a person like him who worshiped and fanboy over the Gods would say something like this.

He nudged him with his elbow and whispered back.

"Don't sulk. I'll be back right away, don't mind what he said." He stood up and sit upfront on the horse. Rubbing it in the middle. He was distracted for a while and didn't quite hear the exaggerated gasp the teenager did after.

"Of course, I understand that. I just don't like the way he treats the other Deities," Dong-Hyun crossed his arms. Subtly rolling his eyes in Yeonbin's direction.

So Eun looked at him with a questioning stare before switching his eyes to the other party, who isn't leaving yet.

His face grew even more puzzled.

Only after a while, seems like one soldier bringing up the rear noticed something unusual too, so he spoke to Yeonbin, the only person who made the atmosphere quite odd.

"Your Highness, should we go?"

Yeonbin was staring at So Eun with a peculiar expression. His figure isn't moving and did not indicate controlling his horse to leave. So Eun stared back at him and couldn't help to ask him what's wrong. But then, the Deity seemed to snap out of it and gave his person a quick nod before saying,

"It's nothing, I just thought I saw someone familiar." He glanced for the last time at So Eun before kicking his horse to move. Then the soldiers and disciples followed afterward.

So Eun hasn't processed yet what happened, but he reacted too. Waving his hand goodbyes at Dong-Hyun before pursuing them.

The chilly breeze stroked his skin and the radiant light of the sun peeped through the gaps of the leaves, So Eun couldn't form a possibility except for one.

Gim Yeonbin was certainly one of the people who had known him in his past. But why does he feel nothing when he saw him?

Could it be that the Demon King was his only answer now?
