Hides Within the Forsaken Forest - Part 3

Having felt the state of almost losing consciousness. So Eun refused to fall back and become useless at this sequence of events. He shook his head a couple of times, persistently feeling his surroundings. And the thought of someone sneakily joining them brought his mind into a tangled mess.

The moon did help to light the land, but it soon was covered with the misty clouds drifting above them. And without the single natural glow of the night, the forest went pitch black, as it rapidly worsens to something evil.

So Eun understood it immediately, the atmosphere had deteriorated because aside from the two Divine beings, the green inferno itself was proof enough that they are not alone anymore.

What could go wrong? They have Yeonbin, aren't they? The Deity that was rumored to be as powerful as the Heavenly Emperor, yes for him, it was still a rumor without a final notion.

At this point, So Eun knew he's just being effortlessly useless again, because in the first place and concerning their current situation, Yeonbin was the only one reliable and skilled in eliminating off Demons within their group. But with numerous of them appearing and showing off their crazy schemes, So Eun isn't quite sure anymore if they ever make it out alive.

And naturally, for So Eun to make their condition something to look forward to despite the danger that awaits them, at least for him, like it is the most helpful thing to do, he's anticipating Yeonbin to act up his skills and confirm the rumors true. "Are you the Emperor's right hand? Well then prove it if you're worthy." Something like that.

Like it's one of the most significant things to witness with his own eyes, while the disciples and servants continuously bawled and screamed.

So Eun put it at the back of his mind for the meantime to knock some sense into his head and instantly advanced his way onto the disciples.

He decided to put the matters in his hand, he lit up an abandoned torched that laid on the land and looked around.

Yet unexpectedly, wiggling bodies had surprised him as soon as he lifted his arm. These were the servants that are on the brink of death when he heard them fighting for their lives, but then, So Eun became speechless and troubled when the disciples aren't even fighting no one. Throwing punches and slashing swords at the thin air, literally nothing.

So Eun gulped and felt his robes had gradually dried up because of the freezing wind. As if a realization came up, he looked upwards.

The droplets of rain no longer touch his face.

The rain already stopped, and he didn't even notice it? But wait-- the disciples are still in need of help. The green inferno!

Before all of this, the green inferno attacked Yeonbin first, resulting in a clamor of panic and terror. That could be an entity that the one disciple was referring to.

If so, aside from the green inferno, So Eun was very sharp that someone more vicious than the ferocious demons, is the person who had come.

He spun his head, trying to locate an enormous sense of evil that may point him where that being is!

He tightened his grip on the sword and compelled his other hand to ignite more flame. Going back and forth to assault the wicked and invisible ones, So Eun unleashed it and strikes onto the servant's directions.

After that strike, numerous green fiery sparked through the forest. In that instant, the disciples looked for the owner of the spiritual powers and bowed excessively at So Eun. That somehow solved the minor problems for now. Thus, he sighed in relief.

However, before they had the chance to calmed their minds, there came from a distance away from them, screams and hollers along with the clanking swords interrupted them.

Barely escaping the brink of death, the disciples all followed So Eun and lit up their lamp, and paid attention to the commotion happening from afar.

So Eun's eyebrows gradually came together, as he tried to listen with his extraordinary hearing.

Seconds passed and the commotion came closer and closer, So Eun was also, little by little, perceiving it at the back of his mind.

The only thing that was happening in this forest was the warfare between the Emperor and the Demon King. And the sound of the commotion along with the clanking swords is no doubt the army of the Emperor that he ordered to siege the Demon King!

But why did they come here?

Before So Eun had come up with an answer, a burst of light had erupted, and the next time he looked around, the blazing fire was already engulfing the trees of the forest.

Before, they were rushing to light up a lamp as if it's their only sign of surviving, but when the forest was surrounded by flames, giving a faint image of their surroundings, the disciples' eyes widened as they stared horrifyingly at something within the vast flames.

So Eun was in the same state too, before the roaring flames, there stands a silhouette clad in black.
