The Phoenix And The Willow

From the sidestreet before them, the folks people gathered in front of a small mahogany stage, upon it was a scene between two people executing a play for the audience.

Crowds poured in and only intensified the enthusiasm of the two actors on stage.

They were dressed in the uniform of the Yang Sect, the crimson tint fading into a darker shade of red.

Each holding an artificial sword while they dance their way onto each other.

So Eun mulled it over and over, yet the event happening took his attention. He swift glanced at Han Min before it goes to the center stage which was overly packed with onlookers.

He gave them a look over and the man in front of him spoke, "This event was built for street performers, and the Yang Sect varied it for them to take turns every day of the week."

Before turning his attention to the scene.

"Oh, right. I apologize for asking this but don't you have important matters to deal with? I meant, saving this lowly Deity is already enough. What if I just ruined it again for you?"

So Eun really wanted to bring that up and avoid being hasty towards the Demon King.

And before he stops himself from talking, Han Min already stepped past him to watch.

He only blurted out a "You didn't ruin it." before his figure goes away.

The Deity he's been talking to didn't get that right, and he unconsciously furrowed his eyebrows, following him with his eyes.

From ahead of them, the two performers earlier took their time out and appeared another two young men.

The other was wearing mint green garments that went past the knees, and from the looks of it alone, it couldn't judge the fanciness lower than that of the Yang Sect.

Phoenix flowers were neatly embedded in the young man's robes, above the stomach.

While the other man clad in dandelion-colored robes, also appeared in extravagant clothing, one that would be mistaken it came from the prominent sects.

So Eun momentarily forgot his words and took a while to follow him. More people got interested and dived in behind Han Min, which startled So Eun.

The two performers in front weren't dancing or singing, unlike the previous ones who either executes their magic or danced on their own accord, these two just stand like a stand post in front of the audience.

Standing side by side until an old woman clicked her tongue from behind the stage.

The audience had no idea what gave them the sign to start their cue to perform, but the moment the old woman clicked her tongue, the young man in mint green draw his dull blade and present a few moves.

At that time, So Eun makes it up to Han Min's side.

"You're right, they are taking turns in performing."

He observed the young man's moves and consider it sword-dancing like the previous one.

So Eun easily got bored somehow and look over the people instead. Placing both hands behind his back, before his stare stopped at his left.

Those Palace Guards from before showed up again.

This time, there were five groups of them lining the wide streets, asking and prodding other people's shoulders and faces.

So Eun immediately lifted his scarf higher and turned to Han Min.

"They didn't leave." Right at the moment he said those words, his hand that was holding the scarf stopped.

Han Min was neither paying attention to him nor their surroundings, but his eyes were fixated on that stage, where the two young men were performing.

Don't get him wrong, there's nothing wrong with the performance, it's just that Han Min's expression was that of a Demon King who found something he didn't know about.

So Eun instantly noticed him, then the voices of the young ladies from the side of them resounded through his ears.

"Those two are beginners, never thought they were going to perform an ancient story for their debut. What a waste of talent."

"Looking from their moves alone, they were in fact new, and wasted it from performing instead of storytelling." So Eun turned his attention past Han Min and stared at the two ladies chattering.

"What do they gain from imitating the two sects from years ago? It was all tragic, nothing interesting." They continued talking, and Han Min didn't break his stare.

And yet out of the blue, an unexpected woman in purple joined in.

"Now, how could you say it was nothing interesting? The Phoenix and the Willow is a classic true story from the Tragic War of the Celestial Emperor and the Demon King. Those were some truly historic events. I wouldn't say it's ancient, besides, we witness it for like a decade ago?"
