Generation's Fading Fortune

The two ladies in their twenties heard the new voice, and the lady beside Han Min looked behind her.

"What? You talk like a fan of that classic tale?"

Out of all the common folks standing by for a good show, So Eun saw a noble maiden, fanning herself with a purple fan covering half of her face.

She's the one who initiated a conversation with those two in front of her.

So Eun gave her a side glance while still studying Han Min's complexion.

The noble maiden who spoked inhaled before she crossed her arms.

"You've seen through this fan, milady. I am indeed a devoted believer of the Phoenix and the Willow." Then she waved her fan a bit more, closing and bowing to the women.

The woman on the right who wore a dusty white robe, turned her small figure to look at the maiden who popped up out of nowhere.

"You.. You look so young, how are you a devoted believer of that classic from ten years ago?"

She chuckled in return before speaking, "I am flattered. But milady doesn't have to say such things about the events that made the Yang Sect flourish like it is now."

"And besides, it was only ten years later, even a ten year old child can be a fan of a renowned artist, right?"

The other in red seemed to agree over that, "You have a point. So, you came here to watch the show?" She gestured over at the performers and looked back.

The maiden in purple only nodded her head, "You're right, and to do other matters as well."

She took out her fan and slightly bow at them again.

"Please don't mind how I construct my words, but, you two have something against this story?"

She spoke with a softer tone than before, delivering a hunch that she meant no harm.

Both ladies were out of words for a while, before the one beside Han Min smiled apologetically at her.

"No No, eh how can you say that? It's just that, we are the generations of this age who don't get fazed about wars and deaths anymore. I'll be honest, This was all about history, which is so boring to me."

Maiden in purple didn't finish her sentence before she's waving her hands at her, crescent eyes hiding because of her smiling plump cheeks.

"Don't be like that, I'm glad you answered it honestly. I'm sorry for disputing beliefs with you, milady. I am Li Hua,"

Stretching her fan to herself for the greetings, the women then completely turned around to exchange formalities with her.

That's his cue to stop listening, and paid attention instead to Han Min.

"Did you see something?"

Because of the bubbling crowds around them, So Eun made sure his words are clear and stepped closer to the man. Only then did Han Min retract his eyes and glance at him.

"Nothing, those uniforms they're wearing are from the Han and So Sects."

Looking refined and collected, as usual, his expression didn't gravely change, and looked anywhere but the two performers at the center.

Then came a few seconds, So Eun was deliberating it again. Han and So Clan might be the two sects that the Lady mentioned before.

Instead of looking at the man beside him, he watched the two-masked players and furrowed his eyebrow.

Then he whispered despite himself, "The Phoenix and the Willow?"

There's a nod and a soothing voice beside him, "They are just the two main characters during that Tragic War ten years from now."

"Characters? Isn't this classic a true story?" So Eun didn't have the time to observe the clothes of the dancers before they quietly exited the stage, receiving minimal applause from the crowd.

"Do you believe it is?"

Han Min held his arms crossed and was now staring at him. His figure of composed and unfazed only pushes So Eun further to realize that this man beside him really is a Demon King.

So So Eun instantly scurried for words.

"What's that have to do with me? But if you're just asking for my opinion, I think it's not false."

The next entertainer controlling the stage was a young man in his plain cultivator robes.

"Hm? Why it is then?" Han Min subtly tilted his head towards him.

"From the ladies' conversation alone. I'm sure you heard it too. They have enough believers and such." He purposely avoided his gaze up to the young man speaking in front.

"-Since anyone had come here today to either be an audience or spectator, please be nice to spare some coins to this lowly one for his grandmother."

Due to that, the onlookers at the very back felt that this guy wouldn't execute an interesting show and just talk his way to get some coins, so they leave right away, causing the young man to chuckle.

"Ay-yah, I just said that to be nice to me, but anyways before I completely lose all of you. Have you heard of the Fading Fortune?" So Eun had just thought of leaving because of the Palace Guards still patrolling around the area. But as the humming crowd gasped in unison, he looked back at the scene.

"That's right, here beyond you today is my grandmother who traveled from the capital up to here, to show you your fortune for the next year to come!"

He waved his hand and an old woman with an amber glass canister in her hands entered the center stage.

The mass then started to get interested in the show, some of them raising their hands high, while some continued to look apathetic.

One of them was Han Min, then So Eun was on the verge of running away or painfully staying to watch what is about to go on.

Han Min seemed to notice him standing on his toes to get a good look, "We can watch the show for a while, there's still a mass of viewers behind us. Those idiots wouldn't find us so easily."

"Yeah, oh, and sorry for wasting your time. Hehe. I just want to see for myself if this old woman really is a fortune-teller." He continued to stand on his toes while balancing himself.

"See, the demand here is a lot more compared to the capital. We wouldn't be wasting time talking. Since I'm not the one who's doing the fortune-telling, my grandmother here will choose five people in the crowd to stand on the stage and prove to all of you that the Fading Fortune, isn't fading because of her age, but she still possessed the power to foresee your fortune!"

"This guy said he won't be wasting time talking."

So Eun said despite himself and watch how the old woman wandered her eyes from each of the people.

He heard a hum in his side.

"Fading Fortune was a vague title from the past and was passed generation by generation to a person who had the power to tell one's luck. If it turns out that she can predict their faith in fortune, then she's the Fading Fortune of this generation."

Han Min also looked at the two people, and as the old woman didn't call anyone, So Eun turned to look at him.

"That's impressive, for a fortune-teller to have this lot of reputation in this world, people must have really believed this kind of hopeful things coming from them."

So Eun chuckled at that and stood on his toes again to see that the old woman disappeared on the center stage.

He silently gasped and a voice spoke beside him.

"If you had a chance to meet one of the fortune-tellers, would you listen to what will they say?"

Han Min saw the woman going down the stage, and didn't appear interested anymore.

Then So Eun finally gave up, giving Han Min a confused look. What's with him throwing questions at every chance he gets?

"It depends on what she will say, but if I ever met one, I'll gladly accept her service to tell my fortune, there's nothing to lose right?" He ended up smiling at Han Min, and the other stopped at his face.

Long before Han Min replied to him, there was a gasp around them, and the burly man standing high in front of So Eun stepped aside.

He didn't know what was going on, but when the muscular man leave a space for him to see, what he saw made his eyes widen.

Turns out, she didn't point out or called out to anyone but personally choose her first customer.

Standing in the middle of the crowd with her grandson holding the canister beside her, was the old woman.

Han Min was surprised too, putting down his arms from his side to look serious.

"Young Master, your eyes are so bright that you piqued my interest." She smiled warmly at So Eun, whose looking stunned in the eyes.
