Chapter 6

Richard was quiet at what Casey had said.

Casey, Casey... Marie had his name in her head, she had the thought of a being capable of mind-control. She held her now bruised hand, she didn't mind it. Instead, she let a thin amount of ice cover her hand. The numbing kicked in; Marie sighed as she entered Richard's tent.

"I didn't take you as the bedside manner type," Richard said a careless smile on his face. Marie looked at him and shrugged.

"I wanted to make him feel safe," She replied. He chuckled,

"Sure Marie," He said running a hand through his hair, he headed to a lounge chair, the wooden arms were worn, the cushion on the seat was a dark green leather but had been worn in areas like the arms and legs.

"My favorite chair" He explained. Marie took a glance at him, reaching into her boot. She pulled a small knife from it; the blade was black and the hilt had white threading throughout the bone handle. A small turquoise stone sat there.

"My favorite knife," She said, a small sharpening stone appeared in her hand. The two normally would try to attempt a conversation. Not tonight Marie thought. She sharpened the knife, the edge just enough to hurt her without opening flesh to the point of bleeding.

"Why do you test it on yourself?" Richard asked. Marie looked at him, then Victoria came in. The blonde locked eyes with Richard, Marie didn't look at Victoria her focus on sharpening her blade.

"If you want, I'll leave?" She offered. Already setting her sharpening stone away and sliding her knife into her boot.

"Please," The pair said.
