12 | A New Life With Him

Then, someone came up behind me and lifted me and twirled me around. His touch familiar to me, his laugh a voice I'd longed for. I laughed and screamed at the same time...which sounds weird. I turn my head to Liam who is smiling from ear to ear.

"Hey Adrianne," he greeted. There he stood in all his glorious glory. Brown hair swept back, he smiled widely showing his pearly white teeth. He wore an identical tux as Sebastian's but he seemed to rock the tux better than anyone.

I held in a breath, "Hey."

"How's your night so far?" he asked.

"Shouldn't I be the one to ask you that?"

"Doesn't matter, earlier, you seemed so out of it," he said.

I shrugged, "It seemed boring."

He grabbed two wine glasses for the both of us and dragged me to an unoccupied table.

"Ready for married life?" he asked, cringing at the word 'married'.

"To be honest? Nope, but I don't have a choice now do I?"

"But again, I'm one call away if you ever need me," he smiles.

I scoff. "'If you ever need me to beat somebody up' you mean."

"Well, that too."

"You know, it's been a while since I've last seen you. How have you been?" I nudged him.

He squared his shoulders. "Boring stuff, had to get back to work. Oh, and I had to clean my condo unit which is a nightmare."

"When was cleaning not a nightmare for you?" I teased.

"Hey! I clean! Unlike you who have maids who do the work."

"That's where you're wrong, if I had the opportunity, I'd clean my room. They always beat me to it."

"Excuses. I can see right through you Adrianne and you hate cleaning as much as I do." He narrowed his green eyes, wiggling his eyebrows.

We continued talking about what happened the past few months and he kept rambling on and on and on about how he wished he could travel again. I, however, talked about how much of a nightmare this marriage was already and it barely started. We were laughing about something when Sebastian came to me, a frown on his face.

"What's it this time?" I mumbled.

"I've been looking for you...it's time to cut the cake," he said blankly.

"Oh, I'll be right back Liam."

Sebastian then yanked me by the hand and glared at me. "So you tell him where you go and not me?

"Why should I tell you, again?" I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Because I'm your husband?"

"Oops, I'm sorry dear husband but I seem to trust my best friend more than you." I pointed to him then to Liam who was sitting alone by the table.

"Now that seems suspicious," he mused.

"Excuse me? Are you implying Liam and I have a relationship?" I questioned, clenching my fists.

He raised both of his hands. "I didn't say that. Besides don't you two have a relationship? You are best friends, right?" he smirked.

Asshole.

I frowned and we arrived in front of the three-tier cake which had beautiful flowers scattered in some parts of the cake.

I forced a smile and held the knife, Sebastian placed his hand over mine as we sliced a piece of the cake. Lights were flashing everywhere and I found it hard to ignore. I felt Sebastian place his free hand on my waist and held me closer to him.

"Don't mind the lights," he whispered. "Focus on cutting this beautiful cake."

"I feel bad for cutting it though, it looks so pretty," I told him.

"For once, I agree with you."

And alas, the reception finally ended! I don't think I can endure another hour in the venue and keep acting like Sebastian and I are madly in love with each other. We were about to enter the limousine when Mr Adair stopped us in our tracks.

"Sebastian, Adrianne," he called. "We have a very special gift for you two," he said. "Follow us and we'll lead you to it."

What now? Why do we have to follow him?

"I'll take my car." Sebastian headed to somewhere, I would assume, is where his car is parked.

And so I entered the limousine, which was now packed with gifts from family, friends, and employees. We drove off, following Mr Adair's car as we turned left and right many times I lost count. I had apparently fallen asleep and Sebastian woke me up, I wouldn't say gently though. I opened my eyes and saw we were in front of a rather big house. It had huge windows and it had a modern touch to it. I exited the car and looked at Ian, confused.

"What are we doing here?" I gestured towards the house.

"This is mine, Pristine, and Louis' gift for you two," he said.

My hand dropped to my side. "What?" Sebastian and I asked in unison.

"This is your house," he approached us and handed us keys. "It's got the basic necessities, you know, stove, fridge, bed. Feel free to add more though."

"Goodbye and goodnight."

And with that, he left us. Alone. In front of the huge house. With keys.

"Is your father joking?! A house?! For the two of us?!" I exclaimed.

"Adrianne, keep your voice down, people are sleeping," he said, his voice tired.

"But a house?!" I whisper-yelled.

"Yes, a house, I didn't know any of this but can we do this tomorrow? I'm tired," he said and opened the door.

I rushed to open the light bulbs and sighed a sigh of relief once I saw the light. The house was empty which meant shopping for items which can sometimes be a hassle.

Great. Just great.

And then, I slept.

I opened my eyes to sunlight beaming through the windows bathing me in bright yellow hues of the sun. Opening my eyes, I look around the room to see a column of pillows dividing Sebastian and I's bed space. He was sleeping with his back turned to me, lightly snoring. Memories of last night rushing back to me. I got married last night, we had our reception too, and I have a house...with him.
