Time.

As seconds, minutes, and the lesson itself passed, the classroom was not as quiet as it usually was when someone tried to teach. In contrast, the classroom was filled with students that had high amounts of energy and enthusiasm for learning and educating themselves, rather than teens radiating laziness and lacked enthusiasm for anything other than sleep. Though the substitute tried his best keep our motivation and enthusiasm up, my mind was still filled with thoughts of him, of us. Was there still an us?

He didn't say anything to me.

I didn't say anything to him.

We had barely looked at each other.
