Dream

I went inside the dark theatre and wondered my eyes around nervously.

"Hello?" I asked as my voice echoed through the auditorium.

"Hi are you looking for me?" Josh singed.

My eyes widen as I couldn't believe he even had an sweet voice that anybody could fall for.

The lights turned on and I asked "Are you sure detention is here?"

Josh said "That was what I was informed."

I walked on the stage and saw a table in the middle of the stage. I put my things down on the table and took a seat. Josh just couldn't stop gazing at me and smiling.

"What?" I asked with a squared smile.

Josh's face turned serious as he saw a teacher come from backstage and I turned to look at him.

"Take a seat and let's begin." The male teacher ordered.

Josh sat next to me and asked "What exactly are we doing? Is it just us here?"

The teacher said "Doesn't matter. Just get to work."

"On what?" Josh asked confused.

"School homework or other things that need to be done." He answered.

I asked "What if there is no homework?"

"Sit quietly and read a dictionary." He replied as he took out a book to read.

Josh looked at me with a pout and I took out some paper. I began to create a envelope and stick a piece of paper inside that read "I'm very sorry."

Josh got his homework and began to do it.

I gave it to Josh when I was done and the teacher said "Quit passing love notes and study."

I looked at him surprised but I wanted to laugh. All of sudden his phone began to ring and he left outside in the hallway.

Josh said "This is so sweet but I'm glad I'm here."

"Why?" I asked as I wanted to laugh.

"Because I wouldn't have done all this homework if it weren't for us being here." He said wanting to smile.

I nodded my head sideways with a big smile on my face.

"Thank you. I really love this." He said sticking it in his folder.

The teacher came back and said "I have to leave for an emergency but you guys have to stay here until the rest of the 30 minutes is over! Do not leave before or you'll have detention tomorrow again!" He rushed out of the theater room quickly and I looked over at Josh.

Josh stood up and I asked "What are you doing?"

Josh said "I'm done with homework and you don't have any. So, we're going to put on some music to have a singing competition."

I shouted "What?! Are you crazy?! I'm not good at singing!"

Josh laughed and said "Good! I don't want a professional singing with me."

I covered my face with my hands as I couldn't believe what he was saying but I stood up anyways. He went into the studio room with all the lights and turned on some music. He handed me a microphone and he got one as well.

I blushed as I said "I can't believe you."

Josh asked excitedly "Ready?!"

I nodded my head and we both started to sing really silly. I couldn't help but to only laugh at his face expressions. The way he moved around me made me burst into tears as I couldn't take his actions seriously. I loosened up and began to act silly with him. He began to laugh so much that he had to take a seat to calm down. I wiped the tears from under my eyes away. So, that I could see clearer and better.

The generator came in and said "I need you guys to pack up and leave, please. I have to clean up here."

We grabbed our things and we left together after awhile.

"I'm taking you home. If that's ok?" Josh looked over at me for approval.

"Yes! I'm ok with that. Thank you!" I said as we walked to his car and he opened the door for me to go inside. I got inside his car and then he hopped onto the driver side.

"What are you doing later?" I asked.

Josh said "I have no idea. Why?"

I said "You're full of adventures. So, I thought you would do something crazy tonight."

Josh chuckled and said "I don't know. Maybe, if I do. I'll call you. So, that you can join me."

"Oh my." I said with a sting in my heart.

Josh chuckled and said "Atleast, you love them."

I turned up the radio and we began to sing our lungs out to every song that came on. We made eye contact every single time and I loved it very much.

"I'm so happy the radio exists!" I said really grateful and thrilled.

Josh agreed and the rest of the ride was of us singing. Finally, we arrived and he said "Well, here it is."

I looked out the window and then glanced back at him.

"Thank you for the ride." I said before getting off.

I went inside the house and took a shower. I came to eat and went upstairs to my room. I didn't have homework but I did have a messy room. I started to clean my room but I got exhausted afterwards. I took a break and laid down on my bed. Next, thing you know I was dreaming a nightmare. I was dreaming that Josh and me were in his car. All of sudden it stopped working and we were stranded on the side of the road. It was so cold and it felt so unsafe.

"Wren, wake up." My father said wiggling my leg.

I sat up quickly and he asked "Another nightmare?"

I slowly nodded my head and I said "Don't worry it's not about you this time."

He let out a relief sign and said "I'm going to the store. Do you need anything?"

I said "No, I'm fine."

My father said before leaving "Who ever you dreamed of. Tell them to be careful."

I rubbed my eyes as I thought "I hate when I dream because they always come true. Sooner or later they all come to life. Similar or exactly the same but it's a for sure thing."

I looked at my phone and said "I can't tell him or he'll think I'm crazy. I'll just stay near. Besides, I am in the dream."

Josh lit up my phone with his text message and asked "Want to meet up for a movie night?"

I smiled and texted back "Yes!"

I wet my face in the bathroom to cool down after the nightmare I had. I left to go to his house and got nervous about maybe his parents being home. Yet, I remembered they were never really home because of work business. I shrugged it off and I continued my walk to his house. I knocked on his door and he opened it.

His smile made me smile and I didn't want nothing to ever harm him. I walked inside and he had the living room looking like a cinema. He had the movie projector on the ceiling and he had the screen pulled down too. He had popcorn and hotdogs. Some water and sodas.

"Wow, this is amazing." I said very impressed by his creation.

Josh said "I didn't want to go to the movie theater because last time I went. I got gum stuck on the back of my shorts and it wasn't pretty when my mom looked at it."

I nodded my head and said "I don't like it either. It smells and I can't concentrate."

Josh smiled again and got my purse. I walked into the living room with him and he said "I got all these pillows on the floor if you don't mind."

"Not at all." I said as I sat on the pillows and looked at the food.

Josh pushed play and the movie began.

"I got a funny and action movie." He said giving me a plate.

"It's perfect." I said grabing the plate from his hands. I looked at screen and we began to watch the movie. I ate as I saw the movie but I couldn't help but ask.

"Are your parents coming?" I asked.

Josh said "Maybe, later on in the weekend. They're very busy people."

I asked "Don't you miss them or get lonely here?"

Josh smiled as he looked at me. "No, I'm used to being lonely but I don't feel it. I'm usually always out with the guys and you make me forget about everything when I'm with you. I even forget about my phone that always tends to be stuck to my hand."

I didn't ask anymore because I wanted to finish the movie. Whenever, the movie finished it was time for me to go and I worried for him.

"I'm going home." I informed him kind of upset.

Josh said "I'll walk you home."

I nodded my head and I said "Aren't we going to clean first?"

Josh said "I'm sleeping here, like this."

I laughed and said "Wow! You're something else."

Josh smiled and we left his house. He took out his phone and put on some music.

"Don't you just love music?" He asked looking up at the beautiful sky.

I nodded my head and said "Of course. Music is the medicine to our lessons. Music releases all of our toxic tensions. I feel like it was made like the inventions we can't live without."

He looked over at me and said "I can't help but love it so much. It just makes me feel so good."

I looked at him and said "I've only known you for a little while and I feel like I know which songs are the ones that you love more."

He chuckled and changed the subject as we heard the music. "Want to go to school again tomorrow morning?" He asked.

I looked on the ground and remembered my dream.

"Is everything ok?" He asked worried.

"Mhm, everything is ok. I was just thinking how we'll graduate soon." I quickly changed the subject.

Josh pat my back and said "Wren, don't worry about that. Everything, will work out in the end. We're all here for a reason and we're all going to find out when it's time."

He brought his arm up for a side hug. I didn't hesitate to give him that hug that I most needed. I worried so much for the future and I just wanted answers now. I didn't want to wait for it to be clear.

I heard honking and I let go of Josh. I looked back and saw my dad.

He rolled his window down and asked "And who are you?"

Josh looked over at me to get an answer and he did.

"I'm Josh! You must be her dad." He said approaching him. "Nice to meet you!" Josh said as he held out his hand for my dad to shake from inside the truck.

I gave my dad the stare and luckily my dad did shake his hand. I quickly said "Ok! See you tomorrow." Josh moved back and opened the door for me. I quickly got in and waved goodbye. Josh waved bye to the both of us and my dad pulled away.

"Let me guess. He's the one you dreamed of, huh?" He assumed as he saw my face expression.

"Don't worry." I said trying to convince him that nothing bad was going to happen.

My dad said "Just remember, those dreams you dream of aren't no joke and need to be taken seriously. I don't want to get a phone call that you're dead or hurt."

I said "Calm down, dad. I said to not worry. Everything, will be fine."

He sighed and said "Stop speaking like you know it."

"I'm just trying to make you feel better." I said looking over at him. He parked the truck and I helped with the bags inside the house. I unpacked the items that were in the bags and whenever I was done, I went to my room. I looked at my picture frame and whispered "Please, be careful."

I sighed and tried not to obsess over the idea of it actually coming true. I laid down and tried to forget about the idea.

I woke up to my alarm and got ready. I walked outside and he was already there waiting for me. I smiled lightly and began to think only but positive things. He was about to get off the car but I stopped him. I didn't want him to slip and hurt himself. I hurried inside his car and said "Good morning."

"Good morning. How did you sleep?" He asked as he drove off.

I lied "Good and you?"

Josh held his neck and said "I don't think I slept well. My neck feels stiff and it's really uncomfortable.

I chuckled and asked "Where did you sleep?"

Josh answered "My parents got home and I helped them with their luggages. I woke up on the couch in a horrible position."

"Oh my goodness." I said covering my mouth.

He said "I know."

He put the direction signal on that he was going to make a turn but it began to make a very slowmotion sound.

My heart pounded a little harder against my chest and I asked "What's going on?!"

Josh looked down at the screen and said "I don't know. Nothing is showing up. The arrow sound is ticking slower than usual."

I gulped really hard and order him to park the car on the side of the road. The lights on the screen all turned on and then turned off.

"Park the car!" I shouted very scared.

He immediately parked the car on the side and turned it off. Josh held my hand and said "I'm sorry. I don't know why it did that. This car has never done such a thing before."

"It's ok. It's not your fault." I said relaxing as we didn't die on the road.

He tried to turn on the car but it didn't turn on. I took off my seatbelt and got off the car. He opened up the hood and I looked around as he did too.

"I'm sure it's the battery." I said looking at it.

Josh said "Yeah me too. The worst part is how will we get power to get it functioning?"

Snowflakes began to fall over our heads and he looked very beautiful.

"I'm glad we didn't die." I said admiring his looks.

Josh said "Go inside the car. I don't want you to freeze out here."

I nodded my head as he looked a little stressed but I knew he was worried about me. I walked around to the passenger side and ducked down. I grabbed the snow that was already piling up on the ground. I turned it into a snowball and went around to throw it towards Josh. It hit his back and I couldn't hold in my laughter. He turned around and he was on the phone. I put my mouth over my mouth as I already had laughed out loud.

"Mhm, I'll wait for you here. Thanks." He said before hanging up.

He ducked down to get snow. "Hey no! Stop." I said holding up my hands in front of my face for protection and closed my eyes. I felt snow all over my head and I opened up my eyes.

"Hey!" I shouted.

Josh rushed away and I threw snow at him again. He grabbed snow and threw it towards me.

"That's how it's going to be." I said getting ready to fight him with snow.

He laughed and shrugged. We both began to have a snow fight and forgot about school starting any minute.

Josh said holding up his hands in the air "Ok! I surrender!"

It hurt to laugh because of the cold air that took over my lungs. I threw my last snowball without much thought to where it would hit. Sadly, it didn't hit him. Instead, it hit his dad's leg and it was now stained with snowflakes. I squeezed my lips together of embarrassment and didn't even know what to do.

Josh turned back and said "Hey, dad. That's my friend Wren."

"I'm so sorry." I said walking towards his dad to shake his hand.

He looked very mad and upset. I raised my hand forward and waited to see if he would shake it. Suddenly, he began to laugh and shaked my hand. I was confused but I still tended to laugh.

"Nice to meet you." He said with laughter.

I sighed with relief and Josh said "It's ok Wren. He's really cool and fun."

I smiled at him and then looked at the car. "Looks like it may need a new battery." Josh informed his dad.

"I'll take you guys to school and the insurance will take over. Don't worry about it." He said.

We got in the back of his car and the ride was quiet.

"Could you turn on the radio? Wren, likes the music on and not off." Josh told his dad.

I got so embarrassed and said "What?! No, it's ok. You can keep the radio off. I'm fine with it."

Josh said "Don't lie."

I looked at him shock and his dad turned up the radio enough for us to hear.

"It's fine. I just turned it off when I got my son's call. It worried me so much that I just wanted to concentrate on him being ok." His father said.

I held Josh's hand without thinking about it and said "I'm glad we're ok and nothing worse happened."

His hand tightened around mine and gave me such a comforting smile. I didn't even regret holding it in the first place and now I didn't want to let go. Before, we got off his father handed us each a peach.

"Sorry, guys that's the only thing I found in the fruit basket." He said before driving away.

I looked at Josh and before he even looked at me back. We were already laughing until our stomachs got sore.

I was writing in my notebook and then I got lost in space. I began to recall my dream and how it came true. I was just so grateful that nothing worse happened to us. I didn't know why it happened but I did have one thing clear. We're all going to die one day and it can't be preventable. It's all part of life. We're all born to die sooner or later.
