39. Happy birthday!!
The entire office was decorated with balloons and streamers. There were coloured lights around the windows. Two of the guys opened party poppers when the lights turned on.
In the middle there was a huge cake with candles. Lara and the others were standing around the table. Beside the cake, there was a table filled with gifts.
They started singing together.
" HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR BOSS.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU..MAY GOD BLESS YOU.. ….", they sang in unison.
This was a surprise party planned by Lara. Miles and Levy were also not informed about this so as to let them behave naturally.
Liam was truly surprised. His lips drew together into a smile. He saw Lara standing with a bright smile and sing and it definitely made his day.
They walked forward. Each of them stepped forward and wished him and gave him gifts. Finally it was Lara's turn.
" Happy birthday boss!!.. Even though there is pretty much nothing you cannot get, this is just a simple gift from my side..", she said and handed him a bag.
When he looked inside, there were two boxes and a note. One box had cufflinks which were from the latest premium collection. In the other box, there was a black tie with silver embellishments. Though not highly branded, it's elegance knew no bounds.
The last thing was the handwritten note. He took it out and read.
' Sometimes you have to go through darkness to get to the light.
Happy birthday boss. I am hoping that you will receive lots of love and happiness in the year ahead. You might be wondering as to why I wrote the quote above.
It only means that you will definitely find happiness. No matter what huge dark abyss you have fallen into, there will always be light. Hoping that you will shine like a star and reach great heights.
PS : Even though you are already in a high position, hoping that you can be more than that.

He felt a warm feeling when he read her hand written note. A small smile formed on his lips and he said," Thank you".
She just smiled back.
" So come on boss, let us cut the cake..", the others urged.
Soon they cut the cake and chatted for a while. At that time Levy cleared his throat and said that he needed to announce something.
" Well, I just wanted to tell everyone some good news. Natasha is pregnant.. We are getting married..", Levy said with a lot of enthusiasm.
Of course this was shocking. Immediately everyone started congratulating him.
" The wedding is on twentieth of the next month.. I hope all of you will after..", he said with a slightly shy smile.
" Of course we will..", they all replied.
Soon they dispersed and got back to work.
Lara went into Liam's office as she had a small meeting with him and Miles, who was already there.
" Boss as of now the plan is to book the whole of the Golden Palm Resort for four days and three nights. from next Thursday to Sunday. Fifty employees have enrolled to come along with Miss Lina and Mr Miles..", Lara said while reading through proposals.
" Are you going??", Liam asked her.." Yup, I am boss.. Do you want to join??", she replied and asked him.
He acted like he was giving the question a lot of thought. When in reality, he had already decided to go for the trip the minute he heard her say that she would be going.
" Sure. I think I could use a break", he replied as though he was reluctant but still agreed.
Liar!! You had already decided when she agreed. What good skills in acting…. Miles thought.
" The games and other activities along with who will be in which room has been planned by Secretary Levy. Though he was supposed to come, I think we shouldn't force him with his current situation..", Lara said with a soft smile.
They knew it would be rude to ask the man who was going to be a father for the first time to leave his pregnant girlfriend for three days. " True.. We can't let the guy struggle..", Liam agreed with her.
" How about we do this.. I'll take care of the rest of the things... Lara you can help me on the day of the trip ", Miles suggested." Sure..", Lara replied.
