40. Nightmare

During the following days, Lara and Miles were busy confirming different activities for their trip. The number of people attending had a sudden spike when the rumour got out that Liam would join them this time.

It was finally the day of the picnic. Lara had come a little earlier than others to make sure that all the arrangements were made. She put her luggage in the bus and walked into the office building.

Even though it was early, the office was buzzing with action. Quite a lot of people were standing in groups inside the office , ready to leave. The woman were wearing sexy dresses and had a lot of makeup on to impress Liam.

When they saw Lara walk in, they couldn't help but get mesmerized by her beauty. She was wearing black shorts and a light blue shirt, which she had tucked in. This highlighted her slim figure. She was wearing casual shoes and her hair was tied into a messy bun. She had just put on some sunscreen and light lip gloss.

Despite this simple look, she looked much more beautiful than the others. The woman couldn't help but feel envious of her beauty. She just went up to her office and took the itinerary that she had left there the day before.

By the time she returned down, almost every single person had arrived. Lara greeted them with a smile. Liam, Miles and Lina arrived in his car shortly. They decided that they would go on in their car. The people started boarding the bus.

Lara was the last one to get on. She realized that there were no seats left. Liam asked her to join them and she had no choice but to agree with him.

Liam was so overjoyed that he mercilessly kicked Miles out of the front seat and threw him into the back. He then made Lara sit in the front.

Miles had a scowl on his face. He remembered how Liam forced him to make sure that there would be a shortage of seats so that Lara would join them. They soon started to the resort.

Miles was just going through some files while Lina put her ear pods on to listen to music. Lara just pulled out her gaming phone and put on her headphones and started playing The Oriental Odyssey*.

It was an RPG game, that was very addictive. There were multiple players from all around and there were even Lara's college mates among them as well. But their identities were hidden. She had been playing it for years now and was a top notch player.

The journey was going to take over two hours. Lara played for almost an hour and then she kept her phone aside and started looking outside. Liam was busy stealing glances at her while driving. After a while, he noticed that she had dozed off.

He saw her frowning because the sunlight was hitting her eyes. He pulled the sun viser down to block the rays of the sun. Her frown eased and she let out a soft sigh. Liam had a faint smile on his face.

Lara and Miles were intently observing Liam's actions." I never thought that my no good brother was this caring..", she whispered to Miles." Even I am shocked.. Lara is definitely changing him..", he replied softly.

After sometime, Liam felt that he was hearing soft sounds from the side. When he turned he saw that Lara was slightly fidgeting on her seat. She was sweating like anything and was frowning. His brows knit together. He realized that she was having a nightmare.

He thought to stop the car but right at that moment her eyes opened and she jerked forward. Her eyes were filled with fear. That was the first time he had seen her this scared. She fell back to the seat thanks to the seat belt. She tried taking deep breaths to calm herself and she closed her eyes.

Liam became very worried and asked her," Hey?!! Are you okay Lara??"." Huh??.. Yes I am. Thank you boss", she replied after a few seconds.

She slowly massaged her face trying to take her attention away from her nightmare. Ugh… Why now of all times??!!

Liam took his water bottle out and gave it to her." Drink some water. It will help you calm down.", he said softly. " Thank you", she replied with a faint smile. She took the bottle and took a few sips. She then closed her eyes.

She was quietly thinking to herself. Liam was considered a devil with a no care attitude. But while she thought about the time she spent with him, he was always caring towards her. She just guessed that he would have treated everyone like that and people were simply spreading rumours about him.

Little did she know that the man was actually a devil. He was just a tamed cat in front of her and only cared for her.
