Episode 5: Lost Labyrinth (2): First contact (4)

I stepped forward.

*Drip* *Drip*

The liquid continued to drop down the back of my suit.

I took another step forward.

The sound of the shot echoed through my ears.

I painful sensation filled my body.

"RAYY!!!!" Sam shouted. He ran towards me.

The bags, Sam was wearing, swayed off his body as he quickly approached me.

I could hear the ringing sound of the bag. I looked down and there was a hole in my suit.

Funnily, nothing was flowing out but I felt a wet sensation dripping down my body.

*Clack* *Clack*

I could hear the gun trying to shoot again but it didn't.

"AHHH!!!" the middle-aged man continued to scream.

I crouched down a little and looked up to Sam; his face was completely stoned as he stopped in his track.

"I can't let him get hit!" I muttered to myself. Twisting my body, I leapt towards the gun moving sideways quickly.

The middle-aged man continued to aim at me and shoot but nothing came out of the gun.

The bleeding gradually increased and I felt a continuous burning sensation within my wound. I couldn't cover it from bleeding so I pushed forward.

"I need to get that gun!" I told myself.

"SAM!!!" I shouted. "Step back!!! Hide!!!"

He didn't move an inch; he was looking straight at me.

My foot splashed on the liquid and the little droplets flew towards the middle-aged man into his eyes.

"AHHH!!!" The screaming continued and he pointed the gun higher than before but this time, it was pointing at Sam.

I reached out my arm and pushed the gun's aim away from Sam and grabbed tightly on to the top of the gun.

The middle-aged man covered his eyes with one of his hands but it made it worse. His bloodshot eyes wavered and moved around continuously.

I lifted my leg and kicked his arm, that was holding the gun, but he didn't let go. Instead, the arm twisted and aimed towards my direct body again.

He was powerful.

The strength he had. It was not normal. The way he continued to grip on to the gun was abnormal.

I fought back trying to change the trajectory of the aim but nonetheless, it was directly aimed at me.

"YOU." The middle-aged man breathed heavily. "WILL." He was out of breath but he continued to speak. "PAY FOR THIS!!!"

*Clack*

*BANG*

A shockwave ran from my hand towards my arm and blew me backwards slightly. I fell on to the puddle of the liquid and some of it seeped through the hole in the back of my suit.

"ARGH!!" I screamed. Twisting my body, I quickly shook my body and the liquid flew off my suit. I got up and frantically looked into the corner where he was lying.

The gun was in shambles and I could only see pieces of it left embedded in the victim's hands.

Glancing at the floor beside him, I saw a key card with the man's face on the profile picture.

I grabbed it and limped my way over to Sam.

"Sam! L-Let's go!" I said.

He was still stoned.

"SAM!!!" I wanted to grab on to his shoulders but my suit had that liquid on it. "SAM!!!"

Sam stepped back a little and then looked up at me.

"Uh..." he muttered.

"Let's go!!!"

"A-A-Ahhh... yes!" he turned around and reached out towards the handle with his shaking hand.

"Wait!" I shouted. "I'll open it!"

"There's probably the residue of the liquid on the hand," I thought to myself.

I continued to limp over and opened the door.

*Clack*

The bright light seeped through the door and we headed out.

* * *

"Where are we heading to?" Sam asked.

We were running down the corridor.

I had my hand covering my gunshot wound.

The bullet pierced my back, near my waist, and through the front.

"Ah... I wonder if it hit any organs..." I muttered as the blood continued to flow out from the back of my wound.

We continued to speed our way down the corridor but then Sam stopped.

"Hey... what about that guy!?"

"Huh...?"

"The guy who ran away!!!"

"..."

"He's gonna get reinforcements..."

"Let's get out of here first..." I said. "We should get as far as possible..."

My vision began to blur. His voice began to faint a little; I felt light-headed.

I looked around and saw some room doors but one of them caught my eye. It had a place for the key card to swipe.

"Sam..." I said breathing a little. "Take this and go open that door..." I handed him the key card.

He took it and stepped in front of the door. I stumbled my way towards him.

After a few attempts, the card unlocked the door and it slid open.

The darkroom illuminated.

"It's... empty..." Sam muttered.

"That's good... let's hide in here for a bit-" I fell down on one leg.

Sam placed his hand on me and helped drag me into the room.

I sat on the floor and Sam opened our bags sieving through the items inside.

I leaned against the wall and lifted my shirt.

"The wounds... deep..." I moved my head slightly.

Sam threw some cotton pads and supplies at me. I cleaned the wound slowly and then wrapped the entire waist with a bandage. We didn't have stitches or a needle so it wasn't possible to completely close the wound.

"This... will have to do..." I murmured. My lips were becoming dry.

Sam passed me some water and food.

Luckily, the bullet didn't pierce my stomach.

"Eat this and rest..." Sam said quietly.

"Mhm..."

The room was cold and the air was still.

Sam sighed and collapsed on to the wall. He fell asleep and snoozed.

I closed my eyes and looked up towards the ceiling.

"Have a good rest, Sam."

A lot of thoughts passed my mind. From the university lecture hall to saving Rose then meeting Sam and finally the Transport Museum. Nothing had been stable. We were only running, hiding and surviving.

"When will this end?" I muttered.

The siren sounded.
