Aftermath Anxiety

Unfortunately, when he wakes up, that bliss is gone and he's left worrying about what he did.

"Why the fuck would I kiss him?" Remy thinks. "I just ruined our friendship. Things won't be the same after this. Everything's fucked! I messed up everything!"

He didn't know what to do. He had no classes that day, so he could just lay in bed and let his anxiety build up. Maybe he could just take the day off from life. But after five minutes of trying to do absolutely nothing, he was too anxious to wait around all day. He got out of bed, got dressed and texted Emmitt, asking him if they could meet somewhere private. He texted back almost immediately, saying that he had no classes until the afternoon and that his roommate was out.

Remy made his way to Emmitt's dorm as quickly as possible, nervous for how it was going to go, but needing to be relieved of his uncertainty. He knocked on the door, getting deja vu from last night. But this time when he opened the door, Emmitt just stepped aside for him to come in. They both sat down, this time on opposite beds.

Silence surrounded the room as Remy thought out what he wanted to say. He started with "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

Remy's face flushed as he said, "For-For kissing you. I don't know why I did it. Like, I swear, I've never thought about you that way before. I don't-I don't know what - I just--"

"Hey, it's okay," he said softly. "It doesn't have to change anything, alright? If you wanted that to just be a one time thing, then that's all it was."

Remy could not have been more relieved. He stood up, went over to him, and gave him a hug. "Why are you the best person ever?" He mumbled into his shoulder.

"It just comes naturally," he said with fake arrogance.

In a kind voice, Remy told him to "shut the hell up," then turned away to leave.

Before he reached the door, Emmitt said, "You might want to do some thinking... I mean, college is all about figuring out who you are."

Remy turned to him, confused, "What do you mean?"

He casually said, "Well, I'm not trying to label you or anything, but I'm thinking you're not straight. And so you might wanna do some thinking about that. Or not. Ya know, whatever."

Remy nodded at him, then left, going back to his dorm to think.
