CHAPTER 57

I WOKE UP FEELING SO RECHARGED. I looked at my wrist watch and it was 5:30am. The sun rays penetrated through the window and heated up my skin making me pull up the blanket I had.

Seeing that the morning sun shone through the glass of the plane to wake us up from sleep before arriving at the airport, I thanked nature.

The fluffy white clouds and gorgeous blue sky made a perfect combination as seen from afar.

I looked down and the building looked like spikes planted on a plain green field. I could see Cape Canaveral and the Atlantic Ocean all in one continuous view. Too bad I didn't have the full window to appreciate it as it went.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have begun our descent into. Please turn off all portable electronic devices and stow them until we have arrived at the gate. In preparation for landing, fasten your seat belts and remain in your seats..." the voice I assumed was pre-recorded, belong to the flight attendant, aired throughout the entire plane.

I fastened my seatbelt and turned to Adam who's belt was already fastened.

He was fast asleep and I didn't want to disturb him.

I parted his hair and turned back to the window. Looking at the blazing sun, I realised the story of life is quicker than the blink of an eye.

Adam and I were a forever young love story.

It was so difficult for me to understand that someone wanted to separate us. And of all times why now that we were almost getting married?

According to what Lana said, Jeannine was my number one suspect but I didn't understand why she would want me separated from Adam.

She wasn't his childhood sweetheart neither was she a girl in his life at some point.

An old times crush maybe?? And who was the girl she murdered and dumped in my bathtub?

Why would Jeannine even have her killed?

I don't understand anything but I hope with time, I can get to the bottom of this with the help of Conan O'Brien.

Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.

******

The plane landed and Adam and I quickly got checked out.

"I would certainly use a shower!" I yawned as I stretched my hands out almost hitting the roof.

"Oh yeah?" he laughed as he dragged our bags outside. I asked Ciara to help us with the luggage from the airport and she was more than happy to welcome us back.

She was with Griffin and I gave her the look that said 'Youre totally explaining this later'

She shrugged and helped Adam with my bags.

We got outside and a few men packed our bags in the car.

I tried to wear a smile on my face to conceal the pain I was feeling. A wave of sadness had just made its way into my life and I couldn't understand where it was all rooting from.

I looked at Adam and the look on his face told me he was reading my thoughts.

He shook his head and asked me to hold onto the smile.

I smiled and nodded at him. A warm hand landed on mine and I looked to see Ciara.

She was worried about me and pulled me into a hug.

I hugged her back sniffing my pain inside.

"It's gonna be alright....am just glad you're back....." she whispered and her hot breath warmed my cold body, and I could feel my heart beating all over again.

"Umm...Elley? I have to call Conan....and let him know we've arrived safely...." Adam excused him self and I turned to Ciara.

"I have to use the bathroom....come with me please...." I grabbed her hand without even waiting for her to reply.

"Why does she have to come along when you're the one who wants to use the bathroom???" Griffin asked and a look of terror raided my face as I turned to Ciara.

"Uh...big girl things. You won't understand...." Ciara winked at him and now, grabbed me to the nearest bathroom.

We walked into the ladies lavatory and closed the door behind us after checking that there was no one inside.

I took a deep breath and turned to Ciara who surprised me with yet another hug.

"Are you alright???" she asked and I nodded. I knew she was scared for me.

"I am....." I replied breaking the hug. I pushed down the toilet's cover and sat on it running my hands in my hair before scratching the back of my head.

"What's making you unease??"

"I was on a phone call last night with Lana Washington...."

"The girl that works with Jeannine?"

"Yes...." I replied.

"What'd she say?"

"She said she called to ask if everything was okay with me....and I wondered why. Her tone gave away the clue that something was wrong and she admitted to overhearing a conversation between Jeannine and some of her friends at the company...."

"Oh dear.....tell me it doesn't have anything to do with all this..." she asked and I shook my head.

"I don't know...." I denied it. "She said that three days ago, Jeannine was saying that she would be sure to exact her revenge on me come today..." I explained and just by mentioning the very same things, I got frightened.

What kind of woman would actually think of something so heinous?

"Oh My God....." Ciara's eyes widened as she covered her mouth in grief.

I sat back down on the toilet and held my mouth too. I was just confused and didn't understand anything at all.

Part of me was more than ready to believe that Jeannine was capable of something so idiotic; but part of me still acknowledged the fact that I refused to believe it was her. My hunch said it was someone else....

"She's so cheap! How could she take matters to such an extreme! Does she think it's a joke???" Ciara lashed out and I just sat there paralysed.

"Rush and tell the police then...."

"No!" I quickly denied. "This is just a doubt I have. It's a mere opinion. The court of law needs facts. Besides, if the security at the hostel was compromised then I can't trust anyone else..."

"I understand...." she said before pulling me into a hug which I found very, very much comforting.
