Chapter 9

Jungsik took a warm bath and changed into his comfortable pyjama. He might have already done this for no one knows how many times but he stared at the small piece of paper on his table. It was the card given by his wedding designer and he had been staring at it since he came back home.

He sat down on the edge of his bed as he traced his finger over the name written on the card and his lips curled up into smile as her face flashed in the back of his mind.

"Kim Jangmi," he read out the name and smiled to it before he took his phone out and saved the contact number written on the card as 'Wedding Designer Ms. Kim'.

But he tilt his head at the name he wrote, and again changed it into 'Kim Jangmi'. He smiled at the name on his phone screen, much satisfied with the change.

But why he always feel that kind of comfort everytime he's around her? Something one usually feels when they're with their close ones? A part of him wondered if this feeling is right for him to feel towards her? But what made it more confusing is that, those feelings, the comfort, everything still felt so right yet not right. It's like trying to solve a crossword that has no right answer.

His mind was in another track but never thought he would accidentally click on the 'call button'. He panicked and tried to cancel the call but unfortunately, the call was already sent and it would be more awkward now if he did in between.

"Ahmm... Hello?"

He was still nervous when the other line answered, she sounded like she was already asleep but it still sound sweet to him, which he would love to hear for the whole of his life.

"Ah... Hello? Is this Kim Jangmi-ssi?" he managed to be calm.

"Hmm... Yeah... who... is... this?"

"Uh, It's Choi Jungsik."

"Jung~sik... w-who...? Huh? C-CHOI JUNGSIK-SSI?"

Jungsik smiled when he heard her yelling out his name suddenly. Seems like she just realized who's on the phone, and he could only wish he was able to see the reaction himself.

"Oh... Were you sleeping? I'm sorry. I must've disturbed you?"

"Not at all. I'm not sleeping," but end up exposing herself with a yawn.

"Are you sure you weren't sleeping, Kim Jangmi-ssi?"

"Ah, I mean now... I'm awake now. Yeah. Ahaha!"

And he couldn't help but smile when he heard an awkward chuckle through the phone.

"Uh, and, I'm really sorry for not answering your call properly. I didn't expect you to call me at this hour."

"It's alright. I mean, it's also my fault for calling you at this hour," he did call her by mistake to be honest.

"So... why did you call me?"

"Uh? I just... umm... I called you to say this is my contact number. So... you can save it... so if there's anything, we can discuss it here," Jungsik tried his best not to sound weird while his heart tried to restrain itself from skipping it's beats which was getting out of his hand.

"Oh, okay. I'll save it. Thank you."

An awkward silence occupied after that, none of them spoke a word, neither anyone of them hung up the call.

"Choi Jungsik-ssi? Do you still have anything more to say?"

The silence was until she spoke and break it, finally. "Uhh? Uh... No. Not really?" Yeah, he doesn't have anything to say anyway.

"Ah, so you are still here. I thought you already slept in between the call."

He heard her chuckling a bit, and he find it as something really pleasing to hear.

"Aren't you going to sleep Choi Jungsik-ssi?"

"Uh? Yeah. I'm going to," but he wasn't willing to end the call yet.

"Then... shall we hang up the call?"

"No! Uh, I mean... wait... I--" he was never this way before. From someone who's always careful about his words, when did he become like this?

"Hmm? Then, do you want me to be on the call till you sleep?"

"Yeah," he answered without even thinking, the question was unexpected and it was too good to be true for her to ask him but only for him to realize she actually asked it and he actually said yes to it.

"Huh? Yes?"

"Choi Jungsik-ssi. You can be really funny sometimes, do you know that?"

"And do you know how cute you're right now?"

Jungsik thought to himself, smiling when he heard her chuckling, wishing if he could ask her the same.

"Funny? Am I? Seriously?" but he ended up asking something else.

"I was just kidding. Well, uh, Choi Jungsik-ssi, you must be tired so please take rest. It's getting late, I think you need to get some sleep. So, I'll hang up now. Good night Choi Jungsik-ssi."

He still didn't want it to end. For some reasons he couldn't understand, he didn't want to end their little talks. He really did wished he could sleep to her calm voice that made him forget all of his tiredness and stress.

"Uh, yeah. Good night Kim Jangmi-ssi."

But he didn't have any choice. He's not someone in the place to have the right to even wish for it anyway. So he ended up waiting for the other to hang up, because he couldn't dare to end it by himself.

He would never want to...
