Don't You Forget About Me

~*~

Letting out a small sigh to calm her nerves since this would be nerve-racking her though she had to relax. Looking over at the people in control of the music, letting them know she was ready with Michelle cheering for her. Jess smiled, listening to the beginning of the music before starting to sing to the song.

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Ooh Woah

Won't you come, see about me?

I'll be alone, dancing you know it, baby.

Let me know your troubles and doubts.

Giving me everything inside and out and

Everyone started to dance since this was a classic 80's song and were surprised how well Jess was able to sing it.

Love's strange so real in the dark.

Please think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart.

When the light gets into your heart, baby.

Don't you forget about me?

Don't, don't, don't, don't

Don't you forget about me?

Jess started to get into the music and smile while Peter and Ned were cheering to Jess and Michelle, who all started to dance along.

Will you stand above me?

Look my way, never love me

Rain keeps falling; rain keeps falling

Down, down, down

Will you recognize me?

Call my name or walk on by

Rain keeps falling; rain keeps falling.

Down, down, down, down

She started to dance to the music while she was singing, pretending like she was alone in her bedroom and no one was watching her.

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Ooh Woah

Don't you try and pretend

It's my feeling we'll win in the end.

I won't harm you or touch your defenses.

Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me?

I'll be alone, dancing you know it, baby.

Going to take you apart

I'll put us back together at heart, baby.

Peter thought she was really amazing, like she was comfortable up there and didn't think she was bad at what she could do. Since she was breaking free from the fears held her down, he needed to do the same things with her.

Don't you forget about me

Don't, don't, don't, don't

Don't you forget about me

As you walk on by

Will you call my name?

As you walk on by

Will you call my name?

When you walk away

Or will you walk away?

Will you walk on by?

Come on, call my name.

Will you call my name?

I say

(Lala la, la la la la, la)

Will you call my name?

As you walk on by

Everyone continued to dance around the gym, thinking this would be a good homecoming since it still shocked them how well Jess could sing. Once Jess finished singing, she smiled when everyone cheered, feeling like it was only a dream she had been in right now. How could this even be real right now, before getting off the makeshift stage going through the crowd of people? Looking for her dancing partner before finding Peter tipping on his shoulder gently with him turning around smiling at her.

"You did a really great job out there, Jessie," Peter complimented her with Ned and Michelle nodding in agreement before walking onto the dance floor.

Jess smiled at him, "Thanks, Pete, I was really nervous, to be honest."

"I couldn't tell since you were having a good time up there getting everyone else into it," Peter said to her thinking about how he planned to tell her.

Jess hugged him with Peter blushing thankfully; you couldn't see it. He hugged her back before they separated.

They went onto the dance floor, having a good time listening to the music playing going from Back to the Future, Footloose, etc. Peter thought about what he had to do. He would tell Jessie about him being Spider-Man.

"Hey Jessie, I need to talk to you about something," Peter said to her before gently taking his hand into hers.

Jess felt Peter's hand lock-in with her's before following him out of the gym towards his locker since he didn't want anyone else outside of Ned to know this about his secret life after school.

"What is it you wanted to talk to me about Pete," asked Jess wondering what he needed to tell her.

Peter rubbed the back of his neck, "Well...um...I want-I wanted to tell you that I like you, Jessie. More than just a friend, you've always had my back, and I couldn't ask for a better friend. Though with me being Spider-Man, I can't risk you getting hurt or have my enemies find out about you. I'm sorry, Jessie, I'll always be your friend."

Jess was blown away by what just happened. He liked her then say he was Spider-Man, finding the last part hard to believe.

"Peter, why would you say that you care about me only to tell me you're a superhero. If you didn't want to be with me, don't make up some story. I'll always be your friend, don't do something like this to me, please. Because that's not the Peter I fell for," Jess said calmly, trying to hide the fact she was crushed walking back towards the gym.

Peter noticed Jess started to walk from him, clearing his throat, "Jess wait a minute, please."

Secretly putting on one of his web-shooters, getting his spider webbing on her right side, spinning her into his arms.

Jess looked up at Peter in shock, "How did you---what---"

Peter cut her off by gently kissing her on her lips, cupping her cheek while Jess had her hand on his chest. Jess felt the same way she did in the alley that night, knowing she was with her hero and the fact Peter webbed her dress. Feeling ba,d she thought he was lying to her about this though she didn't know or think it was true in her defense. I mean, who do you know is a superhero? Probably zero, and anyone wouldn't believe someone regardless of who they are. After five minutes of sharing another kiss between them, they rest their foreheads on each other's heads.

"I'm sorry, Jessie. I want to be with you but with this side of my life; I can't risk having something happen to you. Spider-Man is always going to have enemies. I can't let you take that risk," Peter explained to her, knowing out of all the things he's done.

Right now, he didn't want to allow himself to tell her they couldn't be together though he remembered the pictures he promised her.

He handed them to her, "I didn't forget it since I promised to help you. I got them tonight. Ned had helped me out with those. I can't wait to read your article since I know you'll do good on it."

Jess hugged Peter, and he hugged back, knowing she would have to explain to him tomorrow about how she felt about this. Right now, she just wanted to enjoy this moment, and nothing else really mattered to her other than being with her friend. Even though she wanted with every fiber of her being to tell him he didn't need to make this decision for her.

"It's alright, Peter. Let's enjoy the rest of the dance; okay, thank you for this and for telling me this. Because I could tell this wasn't an easy thing for you to say," Jess said, smiling at him softly.

Taking his hand into her's knowing things were going to be hard for him to tell her thinking about how things were going to end up? The dance had come close while they talked to each other though they had a good time and shared slow dances. She felt like this would be a good idea for her to tell him how she felt towards since she truly cared about him. This would be the first time Jess would fight for something she wanted once; she always put others' needs before her own. Following the others out of the school since the dance was over, seeing her mother was waiting for them. She had promised Peter opening the car door for her before getting inside along with Peter with them heading home.

After hugging Peter with her mother walking him over to his apartment to give May the pictures, she had developed. Jess headed into her apartment building, walking into her bedroom, closing the door, putting on her PJs. Turning on her computer, putting in her flash drive, opening up a Word Document, typing out her article for tomorrow. She smiled at this since she knew this would be good because she planned to check it when she would head to school tomorrow. Jess had picked out the perfect picture for the article knowing this was a story that matters and would be apart of the school paper. Once she finished typing her article, she saved it to her flash drive before turning off her computer and going to sleep.
