Chapter 31

"Mr. Shark, who is he?" I asked in a whisper.

He sighed. "That's my younger brother, Mako."

I stared at Mako, who maintained his smile. "I'm sorry about your butterflies." I sensed no sincerity in his words.

"Mako, you should apologize properly," Mr. Shark said as he slowly placed me down.

"I refuse. I don't like her," Mako said quite bluntly. "Let's finish our talk. Are you going to follow my plan, Isuru?"

Mr. Shark sighed. "I'm sorry, Mako. Our goals are similar, but I want us to be on peaceful terms with the scientists. Not destroy them."

"Have you forgotten how they experimented on you?"

"Of course not." Mr. Shark looked sideways, recalling the bitter memory.

I was shocked by the brothers' exchange of words.

"However, I don't want to create a chain of hatred. It will only destroy us," Mr. Shark said.

"If you're not with me, then you're against me." Mako then turned to me. "Miss Butterfly, you hate humans, don't you? I can tell."

I replied in a soft voice. "Y-Yes."
