Luckily, the Great White missed the opening and collided against metal. The door shut tight.

We were safe.

I stared at my hands, which were trembling heavily. I found it fascinating, but I wanted to calm myself down.

Mr. Shark was staring into space, looking emotionless. I couldn't tell what he was thinking or feeling. I moved closer and hugged him, seeking a source of comfort to make the anxiety die down. It helped me calm down a little.

He snapped out of it once he felt my warmth.

"That was a close call," he said and gave me a pat on the head.

He said nothing more during our whole elevator ride down.

"Did you lose, woof?" Prof. Dog's wet nose was the first thing that greeted us once we got to the lobby.

Mr. Shark shot him an intimidating look.

"O-Ok. I won't ask, woof."

I stepped forward. "Prof. Dog, why is Ms. Cat helping Mako?"

"Mako? Who's that, woof?" Prof. Dog appeared confused. I think. It's really hard to tell with his dog face.
