Days passed. Kiel never brought up the topic of marriage since then. I was slightly relieved.
I still thought about Isuru and wondered how he was doing. As each day passed, it felt as if he was drifting further away.
People come and go. I knew that was a fact, but there were just some people we all wish we could keep forever. That maybe they would exert some effort to remain at our side. I think everyone deserves at least one person like that.
Kiel, Ms. Cat, and I stepped out of the car. We were standing in front of a large mansion, even larger than Kiel's house.
Guests in evening gowns and fancy suits walked past us. I was in a blue gown, but my petite body only made me look like a kid trying to appear grownup.
Kiel passed white masks to Ms. Cat and I before we entered the building.
"This is my first time attending a masquerade party," said Ms. Cat as she placed on her mask.
"The mayor sure likes to throw lavish parties," remarked Kiel.
