Chapter 39.5 - Urusla Gaiden; Put Our Lives On You

Exactly a week before the battle against Minori, Kotsukuo sat his sixteen year old daughter in front of him for a talk.

After Kotsukuo had gotten his power from an unknown entity atop Shisui Mountain, he set up an underground kingdom for demons alone where he reigned supreme. The residents didn't have a feeling of happiness for finally setting themselves free, but rather one of getting revenge on the other species, greatly influenced by their king's anger.

"What is it father?" Urusla asked, "I should get back so mother can finish braiding my hair."

Kotsukuo sighed before laughing slightly as he placed his hand on his daughter's head, he stared into her demon eyes and began to speak in a serious tone, "My dear Urusla, as you know, I will soon engage in a battle that will decide when our path of revenge will begin…"

As he paused briefly, Urusla's expression became curious as she asked him to continue.

"…but, I may not come back from this battle," he continued, "although I am immortal. My enemy is a quick thinker and I know he has a acquired some great power as have I… and as such I need you."

Urusla's expression changed again to that of surprise, her father usually didn't get her into the mix of the revenge plans out of him being…well…a father, overprotective of their daughters and so the mere fact that he suggested this made her heart race.

"Why me? Why not mother?" Urusla asked as she began to unconsciously twirl her hair.

Expecting such an answer, Kotsukuo skillfully navigated the conversation so that Urusla could understand.

"Your mother is too old," he began once more, "you are needed in both scenarios, if I end up losing the battle then you will have to be put into a jade crystal and infiltrate whatever civilization they put up, creating more demons with your blood and conquering the land in my name."

By now a voluptuous figured woman with short, black hair and horns bending backwards over her head was walking towards Kotsukuo's chamber, but as she heard the conversation from her place at the door she decided to walk away; That woman was Nemu, the mother of Urusla.

"And if you win the battle?" Urusla's nervousness subsided slightly as she questioned.

"Then you," Kotsukuo added as his smile grew brighter and more menacing, "a direct descendant of me, therefore having the strongest inheritance of my power shall rule by my side as Demon Queen Urusla!"

The last part completely shattered any insecurities Urusla had, the thought of being a queen has excited her immensely since birth and she would do anything to have a throne.

"I'll do it, Father." she said while her smile got as menacing as Kotsukuo's.

"Wonderful."

Over the week, Kotsukuo announced his plan to the demons which they all agreed to with loud cheers. Urusla was also taught that the jade crystal would preserve her body until at most ten thousand years, where it with deteriorate and shatter; it was then that she will rise and begin her infiltration.

And finally…

The day came, the day of the battle between Kotsukuo and Minori.

Urusla and Nemu accompanied him into the desert where he said he would meet his adversary and soon enough he did. The mother-daughter duo stayed a few meters off, being camouflaged by the stealth skill of Nemu as Kotsukuo initiated the battle.

Raging on for hours, the fight seemed to be in Kotsukuo's favour for the most part which Nemu was happy to see… but not quite the same for Urusla, deep down she wanted her father to lose so she could rule the land by herself and reign supreme.

But to her surprise, as Kotsukuo was about to deliver the killing blow, something astonishing occurred, she watched attentively as he was drained of his soul which was trapped in another dimension encased in a spiritual dagger. This sight brought tears to the eyes of Nemu but Urusla was trying her best not to explode in laughter.

They both waited until Minori was not alert and retrieved the dagger which he was stupid enough to leave unattended, in hope that there was a way to set Kotsukuo free.

Upon returning to the demon lair, Nemu informed the residents of the loss, a disappointed vibe filled the air until Nemu mentioned Urusla.

"My daughter here is our one ray of hope, she will live to avenge us and bright forth our era of demons on this world!" she encouraged.

Urusla couldn't help but smile as she heard this.

After the speech, Nemu brought Urusla to a temple that she had never seen before. Inside was an alter broad enough to bear a person laying on it.

"Lay there," Nemu asked with a hint of sadness in her voice.

Urusla was too excited to notice this as she laid on the alter and closed her eyes. Seeing her daughter's eyes shut gave Nemu a sense of relief, for what she was about to do would be too painful for a daughter to see.

"Urusla," she muttered, "we place our lives…on you."

Nemu raised her hand above her chest and took a deep breath, she calmed herself before plunging her hand deep into herself reaching her scarib, as she ripped it out brutally she could feel all sources of energy rapidly leaving her body but she tried her best to stay upright.

With what little strength she had, she placed her scarib above where Urusla's would be located and muttered some words…

"Sus…pend,"

The circular crystal scarib shot out a light and exploded, forming particles that were rapidly multiplying and continued to do so until they formed a casing around Urusla. Nemu finally allowed her body to give way and collapsed, dying right there with a contented smile on her face.

Almost ten thousand years after, the crystal shattered and Urusla woke up, her clothes had disintegrated over time leaving her nude but she was feeling no exhaustion from ageing whatsoever.

"Ahh-," she yawned but was halted by the devastating sight. The settlement had decayed into ruins and only looked like a shadow of it's former glory.

Even though Urusla was apart of a race hell bent on revenge, she had never gone through the pain of loss and this sight completely shattered her moral, but she didn't start breaking down in tears but rather began to formulate a plan to infiltrate whatever civilization was set up, just as she was asked.

Coming up with her human disguise, she set out to the forest where she noticed a grand kingdom built, and as such, she scratched herself up with rocks, halted her healing and laid on the ground.

Minutes passed until she heard a voice…

"Miss, are you alright?" said the voice of a teenage male.

"Mmnn, ugh, I think so," she perfectly replicated the demeanor of an injured human as she slowly opened her eyes and saw the brown haired young man dressed in fancy robes standing over her.

"Good, let me take you back to the kingdom to get you fixed up." he said as put out a hand to help her up.

Urusla saw this as a chance to build up her innocent persona which she would use to fool the residents and covered her sacred areas in an attempt to look embarrassed.

"Ah- my apologies," the young man uttered as his cheeks became a bright red, "here, take this." He presented her with one of his robes and she timidly accepted, he accepted his offer to help her walk and they trotted to the kingdom in the distance.

"I…didn't get your…name," Urusla asked, still keeping up the timid appearance.

"Oh, I am Lancelot Orametan, prince of Tenshu kingdom. And you?" he answered.

"U-Urusla…"

And thus, the infiltration which would soon lead to destruction began.
