Through the Woods (Edited)

"What do you mean being a god? Nothing was explained Alys, you just appeared in front of me talking about some obscure reference then you force a plant into my mouth. Nothing here makes sense!" Rose could hardly feel any of her appendages save for her still aching chest. To put it in short term, she was confused, sad, and angry with no viable way to vent these feelings.

< You really need to calm down. I will explain my origins when the time's right but for now, all you need to know is that since you ate the leaf you have gained a tiny sliver of godly power. Which is a good thing because now you can exist in celestial planes without getting torn inside out like you just were. >

"Hold on. Are you telling me you knew I was in excruciating pain and you still did nothing?" < I gave you the leaf didn't I? > Rose finally managed to stand up again and get a good look at the surrounding area. The once black background had somehow become different. She could see what looked like the remnants of a scorched forest. Rose walked up to touch one of the trees. Just as her hand made contact it instantly crumbled into a pile of lifeless ash. "I miss the garden."

Rose walked forward a few more steps but there was nothing but rows upon rows of blacked trees. Some looked slightly healthier than others, but each and every time Rose tried to touch one they would instantly crumble into the same ashy substance. Rose attempted to rub some ash between her fingers but it didn't provided get any more information besides how easily it stains the skin. "Alys why are there so many dead trees here, and why do they crumble when I touch them?

< Let me toss a hypothetical situation your way. Say there was a vast plane of existence that was the home and living representation of a powerful being, and let's say this plane was the final resting place for the people who worshiped this being as a god for example... >

"What are you getting at, are you telling me. That these trees I've been touching and breaking are the souls of people who worshiped a dead god? " Rose looked back at the piles of dust that used to be the first couple of trees she touched and then back at the black soot currently covering her fingers and began to feel lightheaded. "I don't like this place."

< Don't worry about it those people left a long long time ago. You can't do anything to them now so don't you go passing out on me yet. >

"Please tell me the location of the nearest exit; I don't want to accidentally desecrate graves anymore if I can help it." Rose continued to walk as carefully as she could back to where she had initially appeared waiting for an answer from the new voice in her head.

< There are one of two ways we can get out of here. You could either use the power I've just given you to open a portal, or we could wait until this place finally collapses from me not being here anymore and we both parish. >

"So either I learn how to perform miracles which up until this point I've never had to do before or die a probably very painful death?" I could feel an energy welling up inside me as the black smudges on my hands began to pulse with a familiar faint green glow.

< I wouldn't put it that way but yes this is a literal do-or-die situation so hop to it. Just don't be too discouraged, interdimensional travel is only hard when you do it the first time all you have to do is concentrate and envision the effect you want to happen >

"Well here goes nothing" Rose pushed her hands forward and envisioned herself standing in a forest. The green light at Roes's fingertips began to glow brighter and brighter as it stretched out towards the nearest tree in front of her rejuvenating any shreds of life remaining. When Rose was done any remaining energy was gone leaving her on the verge of collapsing as she slowly limped forward through the newly created opening in the renewed tree.

When Rose stepped through she immediately fell to the ground. She could hear the sound of howling wolves accompanied by the sound of heavy footsteps, with the last thing she heard was a man shouting.

"Dismas cover the girl while I strike down these rabid beasts!"
