Chapter 344

"You might have some strong allies, but Kirkwall's army is massive. By making an enemy of the admiral you're only making matters worse. No wonder the demons don't pick kings often." Sullivan taunted.

'I imagine after today there will be some new rumors about our kingdom.' Zack smiled.

Halfdan's fleet had the edge, but rapidly encroaching their location was reinforcements. They witnessed a large wave sweeping their way. It was supporting another fleet with a familiar leading the way.

A massive swordfish was aiming straight for their boats as the waves subsided. The formation split to surround Halfdan's fleet. Skade was standing at the front of the boat chanting with her arms open to the sea. Runes shot towards the familiar as Skade lifted an empty rune from her pouch.

After the magic branded itself upon the familiar's body it dissipated. The rune in Skade's hand ignited as she stored it for later. Mist covered the battlefield as Halfdan's fleet made corrections. Through the mist, the sound of clanging shields, and chanting could be heard.

The admiral was struggling to maintain control of his men when the chanting reached them. He didn't understand the point of a tactic like this. It obscured their soldiers, and ships just as bad. Not to mention the chanting was a dead giveaway of their location.

"Forget the stragglers, and focus on their ships!" The admiral ordered.

'This isn't my first run-in with your lot.' The admiral smirked.

As the mages aimed at Halfdan's fleet, the ships began to quake. They didn't know how, but a breach was made on the surrounding ships. Every vessel but the admiral's was quickly taking on water. They sent a few fighters to patch it up as they continued battling. As a pirate rushed downstairs to the waist-deep water something dashed by.

'What the fuck was that?' Something brushed against his leg.

The pirate looked down seeing nothing and pushed forward as a dark figure emerged behind him. Rowan plunged his hands through the pirate's heart before fading back into the water. When the others arrived the water was already reaching the steps. They noticed bloody water and saw glowing eyes encroaching.

A ball of lightning was shot towards the water, but Rowan countered. His trident went flying through the blast and impaled several men in the process. When it struck the ground the water below deck rushed to its location as the frenzy ensued.

Similar attacks were occurring on each vessel taking water. He was trying to assess the situation, but couldn't reach his men. Realizing it was futile he focused on the reinforcements.

"Hurry up with the trash, and get over here!" The admiral relayed.

In the fog, a powerful aura erupted as several ships were halted. The men rushed to the side of the boat to see a tentacle wrapping around them. It was seizing the ship rapidly, and preparing to drag it under.

"Kraken!" The pirate shouted.

Once the ships were deep enough force was applied. The edges of the ship broke apart and rapidly filled with water as the tentacles retreated. Pirates were firing arrows, and harpoons randomly into the water to prevent another attack. Lydia dove deep and began to swirl around violently with her tentacles.

When a Kraken ignited its essence their tentacles grew tremendously. Each one was strong enough to drag a large vessel to the bottom of the sea in an instant. A simple flick could render bones to jelly, and as they whipped around in the water a maelstrom ensued.

Halfdan's fleet had no intentions of attacking right now. The chanting was to prepare for the storm Lydia was creating. They slammed into each other, and even dipped under the water, but still remained unscathed.

Gradually the mist was blown away, and the admiral witnessed the destruction of his reinforcements. A few stragglers continued battling among the floating wreckage, but help was no longer on the way. Those trying to recover in the water quickly became surrounded.

They were struggling to hold their breath, and ready their magic when shimmering figures came into view. Glancing around there was an army of mermaids covered in mithril armor. In an instant, they began to dash around, and strike the pirates forcing them to breathe water.

As the mystics chanted pirates began to get apprehended. Surrounded by water, and unable to hold their breath resistance seemed futile. Some pirates fled to the wreckage and prepared to lay cover for their comrades in the water.

When the pirate reared back his hand a black tail seized his arm. He turned to see Kim pulling him back towards the water. The pirate struggled to break free of the grip when a pulse of electricity struck his wrist. Seizing from the pulse he was yanked back in and apprehended.

"Anyone who resists won't be shown mercy," Kim announced.

The admiral was preparing his boat to retreat as several shadows sprang out from the water. Mero shredded the pirates in her vicinity forming a foothold for the others. Taking a formation around her was the nereids with artifacts in hand. A pirate took aim as Shiro hurled a spear into his shoulder before recalling it, and piercing a charging assailant.

"Don't charge in recklessly when we have the advantage!" The admiral ordered while launching harpoons from the water.

Fuuka used her bow to cancel their shots before returning fire. The admiral deflected it as he ordered the next attack. Slithering up the side of the boat was Anaya, and a group of elites. They reached the edge of the boat as she brought forth an urumi whip.

"Now!' Anaya shouted.

The numerous blades were aiming for the admiral's arm. He turned around in time to see them wrapped around his forearm. Anaya yanked it back as the admiral's limb was shredded in an instant.

After shouting in pain, the admiral extended his remaining arm as mana condensed around it. A rudimentary cannon appeared as he pulled the string with his teeth. The battlefield erupted with a surge of mana as a cannonball went straight for Anaya.

Anaya lifted her small shield and braced for impact as her essence flared. As sparks flew from the collision she slid back. Rolen's work wouldn't be shattered so easily, and the royal family wasn't to be trifled with.

When Anaya skidded to a halt the hood flared along her neck. She opened her mouth revealing large fangs as venom discharged. It struck the admiral in his eyes as the tissue went necrotic. While squirming in pain, and attempting to wipe the venom off his face Anaya reared her hand back.

"This ends now!" Anaya shouted as the whip wrapped around his neck.
