Chapter 2

*Bzzt Bzzt*

"Uh, it's like 7, and you're now buzzing, didn't I set you to buzz at 8 or something?" Kai angrily told his phone, he then took it from the nightstand and checked, turns out it was not the alarm, it was a text message from his cousin, he then sighed, "So it's just you, good thing maybe since this pandemic is getting out of hand, you're the only one with trusted info." He then opens his phone and reads the text message,

"K..A..I-GET T.H.E. H.E.LL OUT OF THIS TOWN!?":#!@!" Kai stares at the message and tries to examine it, "With the random symbols again? this must be one of his pranks again, last time I listened to these kinds of messages, I got hit by a water balloon," he told himself and sighed again, "I feel a little dumb for trusting him too much and he is just sending me dumb pranks, I remember when I was a kid he used to tell me to go out of my room because there are monsters and it turns out he just wanted to steal my toy," he sill felt angry about that memory, suddenly Kai felt his stomach rumbling and then went to his kitchen and made cereal for breakfast. He then tried to turn on the TV but there was no signal, "No wonder this apartment building had such low star rating," due to his disappointment, he turns the TV off and went to the bathroom. The moment Kai turned on the faucet, there was no water, Kai sighed again. "Yesterday you and TV were working just fine, I don't like talking to those staff members, they don't look friendly though," he thought to himself. With nothing to do, he just wore his t-shirt, black jacket, pants, a bag filled with a pen and a notebook and grabbed a face mask then went outside his apartment room.

Kai noticed that the other rooms beside him are so quiet, there used to be a lot of dog barking this time of day, today is awfully quiet which made him a little suspicious, "The people here left maybe, I will miss those barking noises at night," he said to himself and went to the elevator.

At the door he noticed bloodstains on the door, it was from the door to the stairs, Kai's heart started to beat faster as he looks at the blood. He knows that he should not follow them and report to the staff quickly, he pinches his arm and started to panic,

"This isn't a dream this isn't a dream!" He keeps on repeating as his legs felt shaky, he felt to the ground looking at the blood without the knowledge on what to do next, his phone buzzes again which made him shout and instantly took off his jacket to which the phone slipped out of the jacket, which was the reason of the vibration, fell to the ground, "WHAT THE FU- oh it's just you," he said as he saw the phone, he instantly opened it to a text of one of his classmate, "Get to class now yowwws teacher be mad againnnnnn," Kai instantly tried to gather up the strength to try and stand up and reply to her message,

"OH, COOL BUT I DONT THINK I COULD GO THERE EARLY," he quickly typed out and sent, Kai then wore back his jacket and darted to the elevator and clicked the floor he is currently on. The elevator went and opened without any issue. Kai's heart started to pound again as the elevator slowly arrives and opens its doors but...

There was nothing, no bloodstains no scratches or marks, just the clean elevator Kai used yesterday, he proceeds to cautiously go inside the elevator, shaking in fear. His head was filled with mixed thoughts as he presses the ground floor button, the elevator smoothly closes its doors and continued to go down. Through the doors were terrifying screeches and groans and Kai shrugged them all off.

After a few minutes, his phone started to vibrate with a new message again still from his classmate saying, "Bruh, caps on? teacher flippin' out now, better hurry,"

"Shut up Caily, I'm having a bad day. Btw have you noticed anything weird happening right now? or is it just me? Kai replied,

"Nah, the only thing weird is you, you don't misspell words when you text, the only thing you misspell is my name though which is Kaley,"

"I'm being dead serious Kay," Kai feels extra anxious, feeling like he is going crazy,

"Uh? what answer do you want then?" she sent with angry emojis,

"Nevermind, how's the class?"

She replied instantly, "Just hurry,"

The elevator doors instantly opened, right after she sent her last message, Kai then stepped out and the background was so empty and was so quiet, it was is a low rating apartment building so it won't be surprising but the staff members were also missing. With no regrets, Kai simply walked straight to the exit without looking back. As he made his way to the exit, he saw people in his peripherals, the people were chasing around and more groaning, yet Kai simply did not mind them and forced himself to look straight and walk to the exit.

Outside was pure chaos, cars burning everywhere along with dead bodies on the ground looking lifeless. Kai found a bike on the ground near a dead body so he switched his focus to it. He ran to the bike near the posts with no regrets,

"Pranks, games, I don't care anymore I'm going to school," he murmured as he instantly takes the bike and took off. Behind him were footsteps and growling, he felt confused since there was no one standing right behind him and the street was very clear.

Kai sped up without looking at his back, his feet felt numb but he did not care and kept on pedaling straight to his school. The footsteps start to get quieter and quieter as Kai's leg could hardly move, he slowly pedals his way close to the bridge which separates his town from the school, across the bridge was peaceful, there were people focusing on what they are doing and cars passing by, they do not look like they are in a hassle.

Kai finally looked back and noticed that his town on that view looks peaceful, with no cars going to the town and no cars coming from the town,

"Why the hell should I still go to school in this kind of situation," Kai frustratedly asked himself.

Not long after a few more minutes he finally reached school, all sweaty and anxious, Kai quietly passed the guard and went to his locker to grab his books then slowly made his way to his classroom where he opened the door to see his teacher had her arms crossed glaring at him, Kaley, and the entire class quiet as ever.

The teacher opened her mouth and then
