Chapter 3

"Kai...

her grumpy looking face slowly turned into a worried look,

"Yes, mam?" Kai fearfully asked, his teacher worriedly walked towards him and put her hand on his shoulder, "I heard that there was a disaster currently in your town and sorry for giving you a bad look, I thought you were one of those soldiers,"

"Soldiers?" Kai was shocked,

"There were people with guns and doctors checking from room to room taking away pale-looking kids," while the teacher was explaining, Kai was looking at his classmates many were absent, and most of the absent students were from Kai's town, all of them were terrified, Kaley was also there but her face shows fear, Kai slowly faces the teacher and asked, "Why is everyone looking a little weird here?"

"Oh because you were from the town and they are just keeping their guards up,"

"Uh? ok," Kai simply replied as he goes to his seat which is at the very back of the classroom, pulled it to near to the wall, and sat down without any words and with his arms crossed, "I'm staying on this part of the room then," Kai announced, the teacher worriedly nodded in agreement and took out her marker to finish the lesson.

Kaley, who was in the seat just in front of him, gave him a glance. Kai thought she was trying to get his attention so he took out his phone from his pocket and set her a message,

"Sup? I thought the teacher was flipping out," Kai then looked at her table where her phone was and it then began to vibrate, she took it out and it seems like she was typing something out.

*Bzzt Bzzt*

Kai opens the message, "Welp, she was but after the soldiers checked in she suddenly became worried,"

"Why? what did those soldiers do?" Kai asked, Kaley tried to send a response but the teacher caught her, "Kaley!," she yelled out, "This might be our last day due to the virus, at least pay attention to my class,"

Kai and everyone in the room was surprised, "Last day?" one of the students asked, "Yes dear, I doubt we would all see each other tomorrow," Everyone in the classroom felt sad,

*Bzzt Bzzt*

Kai checked his phone to see that Kaley actually replied, she used the moment the teacher was explaining to send Kai the response,

"They said something about being careful about people from your town, the virus evolved into something, scary they say, maybe that's the reason you were asking about weird things recently," The teacher stopped the drama and continued with the lesson with tears still in her eyes.

Moments later, the bell rang, everyone then went out of the rooms in tears. Kai went straight to his locker with Kaley. The moment he opened the locker he was surprised, there was a letter in his locker, it was a violet letter with a heart pin, Kay didn't seem to notice it so Kai just quietly put it inside his pocket and grabbed his books, and went to his next class.

While walking, Kay asked Kai, "Why do you look so tense? she asks,

"I might be going crazy that's why," Kai simply answered,

"You may be going crazy but don't you always carry your books with two hands?"

"What's that your hiding?" she said as she noticed a violet paper on Kai's pocket and they do not have any violet books, "Huh?" Kai asked her,

"What's that your hiding?" She repeated,

"What hiding?" Without any more words, Kaley snatched the letter from Kai's pocket, she then rejoiced but her happiness didn't last, "Ohhh, hahaha"

"Hey! Give that back," Kai told her, she did not listen but the moment she looked at the letter her happy face slowly turned into a frown,

"Did you already read what's inside the letter?" she asked, she sounded like she was going to cry,

"Not yet and what's wrong with you?" she shrugged and gave Kai back the letter,

"I guess... ugh nevermind," Kaley went to her next class without giving Kai a second glance, Kai was left confused, standing in the hallway as he watches Kaley slowly disappear into the crowd.

Kai knows that Kaley is always mad so he just gave her time, "Even though there is a deadly virus which can easily infect people through breath, still wants to go out with me, she may be out of her mind or just desperate," Kai said to himself, as he goes to the nearest CR instead of going to the next class.

He then went to the stall on the very last, opened the letter, it was just a small paper inside with the words written,

"Room 45" it was the only word written on the paper, Kai was wondering what it meant, the sender was implying to meet her in room 45, Kai wonders what building room 45 means, his apartment is room 47 and his classroom is room 46 making him a little more confused. He scratched his head and ripped the paper, "This might just be one of those seniors, wanting me to go to that room then mug me or something," Kai assumes, he threw the paper and went outside.

The moment Kai touched the doorknob he heard many footsteps, he just ignored them and opened the door. Through the door, were soldiers, all of their guns were aimed at Kai who just came out of the comfort room, All of them were on their guards and told Kai to get on the ground with his hands on his back.

He did as they said and got on the ground, his eyes wide open, and was breathing really fast, "I really want to die," He whispered as one of the soldiers tied his hands, "What's going to happen now?" Kai anxiously asked,

"Don't worry kid, we just want to talk, we are just tying you up to make sure you don't try to do anything fishy," All of the students were just passing by, watching Kai getting tied up, Kaley was also there, she just stared at him, she did not even call out his name, the moment Kai saw here, she instantly walked away and continued on.

Kai watched all of his classmates just staring at him not doing anything to help even his teacher just watched him, he felt betrayed, "I know that helping me is wrong but why would she just brush me off?" Kai asked himself, he looked at his classmates for the last time as he was going with the soldiers, as looking, he noticed a girl with glasses peeking at the corner looking at him in the eyes. She looked awfully different, her face was hard to make out since she only shows her eyes and forehead along with her dark black hair,

"She looks...," Kai tells himself as he goes with the soldiers.
