Chapter 11: The Path to Magic University

After graduating from magic high school, the next step for students aspiring to become great mages was to attend magic university. There were numerous academies available, ranging from mediocre to exceptional.

It was widely acknowledged that in order to become a great mage, one had to enter a prestigious university. Such institutions not only offered excellent education and knowledge but also provided access to valuable resources and opportunities for growth.

Being a mage required substantial resources. Although one could rely on the ambient mana in the surroundings to advance, progress would be much slower compared to those who utilized external resources. Additionally, as mages advanced along their paths, they required magical equipment such as artifacts, scrolls, and potions. Hence, a reputable university became the preferred choice for most students.

However, not everyone had the privilege of entering these esteemed universities. The Central Magic Academy, recognized as the best magic academy across the five continents, set stringent admission requirements. Magic affinity and talent became the primary factors in securing a spot as a future student.

It was said that those with exceptional talent would be scouted early, even before finishing high school. Phillip was one of those individuals. With his high fire affinity, the Central University must have deemed him talented enough to be invited.

Apart from being directly invited by the university, an opportunity to enter a good university could also be obtained through the graduation test.

The graduation test consisted of two parts: the theoretical test and the practical test. The theoretical portion assessed the students' knowledge of magic theory, including magic circles, magical engineering, and more. This knowledge was introduced during high school, as there were still students who had not yet awakened their magical abilities until the awakening ceremony.

The practical test evaluated students' ability to use magic and their combat skills against magical beasts. This test could be disadvantageous for students who awakened their abilities later, but there was little they could do about it. Since they would eventually have to face magical beasts, this test determined whether students possessed the capability to use magic in combat and adapt to unexpected situations.

Based on the results of these two tests, students received their marks, allowing them to gauge their own capabilities and determine which universities would accept them. Naturally, top-tier universities like the Central Magic University required exceptionally high marks, as numerous aspiring mages vied for admission.

I, too, had once dreamt of becoming a student at the Central Magic University. I yearned to make my parents proud and bring joy to my master. However, fate had led me down a different path.

Since I no longer followed the traditional mage's path, magic academies were no longer suitable for me. If I wanted to know what lay ahead after graduation, I would have to seek guidance from my master, as he possessed knowledge of the warrior's path far beyond my own. It was time to consult him and discover the next steps on my journey.
