Chapter 67: Revelations and Escalation

Even though Anna was blessed with a high affinity for the fire element, this time against Jack's attack, all the fire around her seemed to rebel against her. She couldn't properly control the fire, resulting in her being injured upon receiving the attack.

With just one strike, she and the others were badly injured. Jack's strength was truly unfathomable. They couldn't predict his true power, as they were defeated with that single attack. Moreover, Jack didn't look exhausted at all after executing the spell, further deepening the mystery surrounding Young Master Jonathan's strength.

"You!? How strong are you actually?" Filled with indignation, Anna looked upon Jack's face and voiced her disbelief. She couldn't believe he was actually this powerful. Previously, there were rumors about Jack Draco and his exceptional talent, but Anna had assumed those rumors were exaggerated since not many people had witnessed him in action. She had underestimated him, dead wrong.

As she lamented her misjudgment, a thought suddenly crossed Anna's mind. "If the rumors about his strength are true, then doesn't that mean the other rumor is also...!"

"Uncle Garz, quickly retreat with everyone! He...!" Anna tried to warn Captain Garz, but it was too late.

"It's too late. Do it now," Captain Garz replied grimly.

At that moment, a group of people wearing black combat suits stormed into the hall. As they entered, they swiftly used their magic to slaughter the soldiers who had been engaged in battle.

Anna was horrified as she witnessed the rampant murder unfolding before her eyes. It was the first time she had witnessed such brutality firsthand, and the sight filled her with a sense of helplessness.

"No! Stop!!!" Anna desperately tried to intervene, forcing herself to stand up and fight back.

Thomas and Captain Garz also attempted to resist, but their injuries rendered them too weak to mount an effective defense. Despite their efforts, they were quickly overwhelmed. In the end, only Anna, Thomas, and Captain Garz remained standing, while the others lay lifeless.

As Anna's consciousness started to fade, the last thing she saw was Jack taking out an artifact and forcing a space crack to appear. Anna worried for Sarah, who was still inside, but her weakened state left her powerless. She collapsed, losing consciousness.

"So that's what happened back then," I thought to myself.

Anna had awakened and was recounting the events that had unfolded. Both Thomas and Captain Garz were more severely injured than I had expected, and Anna was the only one currently awake.

Listening to Anna's story, I once again marveled at the strength of this person called Jack. His ability to defeat Anna and the others so effortlessly demonstrated his formidable power.

"William, where's Sarah right now?" Anna asked anxiously.

"Don't worry, she's unconscious but safe for now. They tried to take her, but I reacted quickly and ran away with her. I've hidden her somewhere safe before coming here," I reassured her, not fully comprehending the urgency behind her words.

"Thank goodness." Anna sighed in relief before continuing, "It's good she's safe for now, but she could be in danger after this. William, right now I think the best thing you can do is take Sarah and run away quickly. Leave us here."

"What! How can I do that? Don't worry, I've taken care of the people around here, and we're safe for the moment. You can still move, right? I'll carry Thomas and Captain Garz with me, and we can escape together," I explained, trying to convince her to come with me.

"No! We can't! Your priority right now is Sarah. You have to make sure she's safe, or we'll be in an even worse situation," Anna insisted, her tone filled with determination.

Confused by her insistence, I asked, "Why?"

"It's because of him, Jack. When the Draco family wanted to capture Sarah before, I thought they just wanted her constitution like other families do to activate their own constitutions. The Draco family is said to be descendants of a dragon race. Legend has it that their ancestors married someone from the dragon race, bestowing their family with blessings for generations to come. Occasionally, when someone exceptionally talented is born into their family, they are also born with a special constitution related to the Dragon Constitution."

Anna paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts, before continuing, "This constitution gives them superior control over their element, in Jack's case, the fire element, while also blessing its user with draconic strength—a physical enhancement. But looking at Jack's attitude and the way their family usually conducts themselves, I doubt their intentions are anything good."

"I see," I nodded, understanding Anna's concerns. It was true that Jack had overpowering physical strength when we fought, and given Anna's experience, there was no doubt he possessed the Fire Dragon Constitution.

The Draco family was truly envied by others. Almost everyone from that family was blessed with dragon-related constitutions.

Seeing my agreement, Anna continued, "Since the moment I realized he possessed that constitution, I knew the situation was dire. Even if both you and Sarah have constitutions, you can never defeat him because his constitution is of higher quality than yours. Sarah's constitution isn't suited for combat either."

"Wait a minute. What do you mean by that? I don't have a constitution, and what does that have to do with Jack's constitution?" I asked, my confusion growing. When did I have a constitution?

"You don't have to hide it. We had already suspected it when we witnessed your fighting capabilities. Sometimes, certain constitutions can interfere with the magic core, making them undetectable. It's not an uncommon occurrence. That's why we chose to keep silent since you didn't want to talk about it."

So that's what they thought of me. No wonder they never asked about my strength.

"And since this place allows those with constitutions to use their powers, it makes it even more dangerous to go against him," Anna continued, unaware of the shock on my face.

Wait! Does that mean that's why Jack can use magic so effortlessly? No wonder!
