Chapter 27: Sophia

Wind whistling can be heard in the forest. Leaves dancing with the wind were happening in the air. And unlike a normal forest, this forest didn't have any animal living on it, like it was made for a different purpose.

In the middle of the forest, wreaked trees can be seen in the surrounding. Blood can be smelled in the air. 

But an odd scene can be seen In the middle of it. 30 or more dead bodies of the red wolf that was residing in the forest were lining up in a straight line that made it an unusual scene.

And meter distance from the lining bodies, There is also a stockpile of dead bodies of red wolves that made it look like a small mountain. 

And you can see two people who were silently dissecting the poor body of the red wolves while taking the crystal core inside.

Ten minutes passed like a wind, the two didn't talk while dissecting the body of the wolf. Ian didn't ask or say anything. He feels that talking to her will only make her embarrassed so he didn't initiate talking. Instead, he was talking to Lily about many things about this world. He now knows that his information broker, Lily also didn't know all the information around the world. But he didn't get discouraged since there's no need. Just beings knowledgeable enough for his ignorant self was already satisfying for him. 

Another ten minutes passed and they all dissected all the bodies of their crystal. After cleaning their hand of the blood with water they were carrying, Sophia sat on the ground resting while Ian floated to where he piled the body of the wolf.

He looks at Sophia and asks.

"Hey Sophia, do you want to join me after we finished this raid? What I am talking about is I plan to create a party so I am asking you if you will join me?"

Sophia looked baffled, she didn't understand why Ian was asking her since she is just a lowly porter that can't fight. She hesitates for a few seconds before she asks.

"Why me? I am just a porter, and I don't think I can help with fighting since my ability is useless. Many porters have better abilities than mine so why me?"

Ian shakes his head from how pessimistic she is and replies  "there's no need to lower yourself, although you don't have a strong ability right now, but what about the future? No one knows what's going to happen shortly so there is no need to be pessimistic."

"And if you're worried about your ability then you don't have to worry about it. Look at me. I am also a porter who can only make the thing I touch become light on the past but what happens? I re-awakened and became stronger, so there is no need to worry since maybe you will also become like me." Ian reassures her.

Sophia who heard his word and hearing him encouraging her made her eyes red. She feels like crying remembering her parents. It's the first time for her to hear encouraging words from someone else besides her parents and a stranger no less.

After awakening her ability some of her friends leave her like a plague while others mock her. She didn't know why they were like that at first but after her parents died from the raid. She faced a society full of injustice and cruelty. 

Because she just has awakened a low-rank ability she was mocked and bullied by her so-called friend from the past. If not because of her little sister that needs her support she doesn't know what will happen to her.

She becomes distant from those who have stronger abilities, she didn't talk or ask questions to those who hired her as a porter. Since for her those people will only think lowly of her.

She talks to Ian because he was also a porter so she knows how hard it is to become a porter since she was also like that. She just didn't think that Ian has re-awakened that made her shame for thinking that he is like her.

Ian saw Sophia become silent and added.

"And it's not like I am looking for a stronger member since I know how arrogant people with stronger ability are. There's no need to think lowly of yourself."

Sophia was thinking about what Ian offered to her. It's not rare to offer a porter to become a party member since there are also porters with a versatile ability that although can't be used for the fight nonetheless can make the work effortless.

High-level Gifters that have an organization have those versatile Porter that have an ability like [Storage], an ability that can store non-living things inside with a different kind of space depending on how powerful the Gifter is.

Porter with abilities related to those abilities was raised like a star because the organization profits depend on those Porter that can carry the bodies of monsters.

Ian didn't urge her for an answer, while he was practicing his ability by floating while waiting for her answer.

Thinking for five minutes Sophia look at Ian who was floating up and down and asks.

"But why me? We just met today after all"

Ian grinned at her question and said; "We'll the truth is, since you are going to be my accomplice for today it's best if you become my teammates."

Sophia was at loss, she didn't know what he meant. She plans to ask him what he is talking about but saw him floating in the direction of the stack bodies while extending his arm at the bodies that after he touched it the bodies disappeared like a bubble that popped.

Sophia, who saw how the stack of dead bodies of the red wolf vanished was shocked that her cute pink mouth was wide open with her eyes bulging from its socket.

Ian who saw her expression chuckled at how funny her expression was.
