-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even after winning against Sunny, the sky outside remained as red and dreary as ever. People were still laying against the ground, unconscious, and the atmosphere was still dark and gloomy.
All of this can only mean one thing; that simply beating Sunny changed absolutely nothing at all.
I'm really hoping that his friends and Mari can talk him out of this, since that would make my job so much easier.
I hope I won't have to resort to killing him, even if I think I don't have the will and confidence to do so.
(Speaking of his friends, we have arrived.)
Soon enough, a familiar pastel-colored house soon appeared in sight, differentiating itself from the dark and gloomy surroundings around it.
"Hey Sunny, we're almost there."
"..."
The boy still remained silent and mute, still bound in the cocoon I put him in.
(Still silent huh? Well let's see how long you can keep that silence once you're in front of your friends and big sister.)
Finally, in front of the pastel-coloured house, I began to yell to draw the residents attention.
"Hey, I got your friend here with me!"
Not even five seconds after I yelled that out, Mari immediately burst through the front door and appeared in front of me.
"Where's my little brother!!?" She then began to grab my shoulders while looking as threatening as possible.
Seeing this I quickly pointed to the cocoon Sunny was trapped in so that she could calm down and not hurt me.
"Sunny!" As soon as I pointed where he was she quickly let go and began to attend to her brother.
"Why is he in a cocoon?!" She yelled at me with the rage of an infuriated big sister.
"Ah, let me get that for you!" Deciding that I didn't want to die today, I quickly began to transmute the cocoon of cloth away.
*Clap*
With a spark of white electricity, the cloth encasing Sunny in a cocoon quickly fell away.
As soon as the cloth that bound him fell away from his body, she quickly pulled him in for a tight hug while crying a river of tears.
"I'm so sorry Sunny! I neglected you so much! I-" Mari kept talking on and on, sobbing as she apologized profusely to the unconscious boy whilst crying into his shoulders.
Awkwardly scratching the back of my head, I quickly distanced myself from the two to give them some space.
(Wait where are the others?)
As if reading my mind, the other denizens in the house soon came out the door with varying looks on their faces.
looks of joy and relief.
Kel, Aubrey, and Basil, immediately joined Mari in hugging Sunny all the while crying tears of relief and joy.
While Hero stood in the sidelines looking relieved at all his friends reuniting.
Walking next to Hero, I spoke.
"Why aren't you joining in?" A simple question, since I was curious as to why he wasn't joining in on the crying and hugging with them.
"I...uhhh...I wouldn't want to impose?"
I only blinked at him.
Was that a question? Freaking young teenagers. Just go already.
"They're your friends, just go already," I blatantly spoke out feeling a bit annoyed at his dishonesty.
"Thank you."
Hearing him say that I focused my attention back at him.
"Why thank me?"
"For bringing Sunny back. Although she wasn't showing it as much, Mari was depressed, anxious, and fearful that Sunny was lost."
Nodding his head, he joined the others in their group hug. I stood on the sides looking at their display of familial love.
Seconds later, I began to feel awkward.
"I see." Not really used to being sincerely thanked by another person, I kinda just stood there awkwardly staring at them being frie- no family.
This wasn't normal friendship, this was family. A true family.
Truly I am jealous of their familial bonds.
I wonder if I'll ever find people like that?
(What am I thinking? This is no time to contemplate on trivial matters.
Faraway still has it's paranormal situation. The people outside still haven't recovered and I'm certain that the cause Is Sunny.
(I really should tell them… But I should wait for them to finish first.)
And so I waited for them to finish their reunion.
As I waited for them to finish, I staved my boredom by staring at the pastel-colored boundary that separated the inside from the shadowy and dark outdoors.
I watched wearily as the border slowly receded, being overtaken by the shadows from the outside.
(Wait…being overtaken?)
Slowly I came to a realization that the pastel like border was in fact receding while the wavy-shadows from the outside began to overtake them.
(Crap!)
Quickly turning my head towards the group, I made contact with Sunny's lifeless and dull like eyes as he stared back into mine.
"Everyone Inside the house! Quick!" Not caring if their reunion was ruined, I hastily screamed out, not really knowing if going inside the house would do anything.
Unfortunately, by the time everyone processed my words, it was too late the pastel-like color that surrounded us was gone, replaced by the dark, gloomy and shadowy environment.
"No, Sunny ta-"
*Thud*
Mari wasn't able to finish her words as she soon passed out and fell down on the grassy ground..
"I feel sleepy..*Yawn*," Kel tiredly spoke as he began to close his eyes, falling abruptly onto the ground.
*Thud*
"Mariii.." Aubrey quickly followed Kel and Mari's actions.
*Thud*
"Wait wha-" And soon enough Basil.
*Thud*
As the others fell unconscious only Hero was left barely staying conscious enough to speak a few words-
"Help..help th-"
*Thud*
But he too was soon embraced by his dreams.
"Dammit!" I cursed out loud, seeing all of them fall unconscious.
(Was this his plan all along!? Or his attempt at escaping?
Either way I'm not letting him go that easily.)
Just as I was about to clap my hands and transmute the surroundings to attack, I realized something. It was that Sunny was in the middle of his friend's unconscious bodies.
Realizing that I can't attack since it would cause collateral damage to the people around him, I abruptly stopped my transmutation.
"God freaking dammit," I cursed again, this time because I can't attack Sunny without harming anyone in the process.
Sunny, seeing me not attacking, responded quickly by attacking me instead.
Four red hands began to hurl towards me at fast speeds. Seeing them come towards me I tried to dodge by rolling to the side.
Sadly, I was too slow on dodging as I was grabbed by them on the arms and legs. I was then thrown around like a ragdoll.
Being spun around in the air a few times, I started to feel sick, before I was finally thrown towards the ground.
*Boom!*
I crashed on what I could feel was metal, and a small, but quick glance at what my cushion was. I could see that I was slammed into the garage door, and it was bent from the impact.
Tiredly groaning from my spot. I felt my body ache and protest in pain from the force I was slammed with.
I wasn't given time to even think for a moment, as I was once again pulled back and slammed into a glass window.
*Crack!*
Bits and pieces of glass flew everywhere as I crashed into the living room.
Deciding that I had enough being thrown around, I quickly transmuted a wall where the hands were connecting back to Sunny and promptly cut them off.
Seeing that I bought myself time and was no longer in immediate danger from those Red hands,I took a moment to rest and think.
"I hate this."
A statement that summarized my entire being after being thrown around like a ragdoll by Sunny.
"God what do I do?" I pondered as I was at my wit's end. Transmutation can only get me so far in this task.
(I could just abandon my morality and kill Sunny, that would be too easy…).
Heh, yeah no, that path always leads to more problems. Especially to myself.
I mean sure it would save a lot of people… but I shouldn't justify the means with the end, I'll be killing a child for Christ sake!
*sigh*
Sighing tiredly, I started to think of any solution other than murder to my situation.
"I would be very thankful right now if the board helped me."
*Silence*
It was a shot in the dark really, I have very little hope for them to actually help me right now.
"God I wish I had more chloro-"
*Riing*
I was interrupted by the sound of a phone ringing.
"Huh?"
I looked around.
*Riing*
Hearing it again I was sure that it wasn't just a hallucination in my mind, knowing that, I quickly started to look around for the source of the ringing.
*Riingg*
*Riingg*
After a bit of searching around, I eventually found where the ringing came from.
It was a red telephone that looked like it belonged in the '90s. The place where its rotary dial had been was replaced with what looked like a black knob with an unknown purpose?
*Riingg*
Deciding to answer the ringing telephone, I proceeded to walk up to it and picked up the phone.
Putting it against my ear, I was pleasantly surprised when I heard a familiar voice come from the receiving end.
(What?)
I was confused. Why were they apologizing?
(...Why didn't it tell me this sooner?!! I could've finished this task quickly!!) I mentally complained but chose to keep silent.
Oh, that's not good.
Very not good.
And with that the line immediately went dead as a long beeping noise ringed out from the phone.
*Tak*
Placing the phone back to it's spot it quickly started to turn to dust leaving nothing behind in it's remains.
Taking in the board's words, I quickly fell in thought.
"I already expected them to not be able to help, so nothing new there.
But still withholding to mention a vital function of the Gloves?!! That's bullshit!
Man what a bunch of assholes."
Even though I was complaining I still couldn't help but be thankful to them for actually revealing this function.
Since they could've just kept quiet and made me suffer on my own.
So thanks I guess, it's not like I'm thankful or anything.
"Right time to go inside a child…. That sounds wrong, let me rephrase that."
Realizing how wrong that sounded I immediately corrected myself.
"Time to dive inside someone's soul." I spoke with newfound confidence in myself.
(Yeah that sounds better. Definitely better than what I said previously.)
While walking back to the wall I transmuted, I realized a crucial detail that I forgot to think about.
"How do I use it?" I questioned myself, just realizing that I don't know how to use its function.
(Screw it. Improvise just think of using it and activate my trigger. Wait, do I need to get close for it to work? I probably do.)
"It's time to get ready for round three!"
Punching my fist together with my palm, I pump myself up for the oncoming struggle.
"I need something to disorient him again."
As I muttered that, I started preparing for round three.
