Kit's tails twitched behind her as she sat at her desk looking through the student files she was trying to put together. She pulled out a couple that she wanted to speak with at the beginning of the next semester to check in with them. There was one in particular, Shinso Hitoshi, which she pulled in every couple of weeks. His case pulled at her heartstrings just a little, but Aizawa also had a soft spot for the kid as well ever since he saw him at the sports festival.
Shinso was a decently tall teen with indigo colored hair that sat quite messily on top of his head. His eyes are a dark shade of purple, somewhat narrow, and very noticeable bags under them. She couldn't tell if it was because of the stress he was often under, if he was perpetually tired, or if that was just how he looked.
She had actually met him during the first few days of school when he asked to speak with her. After several visits, she found out quite a bit about him and she couldn't help but want to hide him within her tails. His quirk, brainwashing, gave him a bad reputation starting almost day one on developing the quirk. His parents were none too supportive of having a child that had a quirk that could control someone against their will; so they didn't speak to him. They would leave him notes on things they wanted him to do and constantly reminded him to keep his quirk in check. If that wasn't enough, most of the peers he grew up with treated him very similarly.
Despite the harsh treatment all of his life, Kit believed he turned out to be a good kid, though not very social. He didn't seem to have the urge to make friends and it almost made her think that was the reason why he requested to see her often. So she then made it her personal goal to see him before he had to come to her. They actually had very good conversations and she trusted him fully to not use his quirk against her, which she hoped would help him trust her more.
She pulled out a couple of more files before putting the rest away and looked at the time, reading it was still just a little after eleven in the morning. It had only been a couple of days, but she couldn't help but miss Aizawa's presence. He was calming to her and sometimes she noticed that her anxiety got the best of her when he was not around.
She got up and was out of her office to make her way to the staff lounge where there was a tea maker; she really needed to buy herself a tea maker for her office so she didn't have to leave it just for some. She was coming to the staffroom where she was surprised to see Midnight, Yamada, Snipe, All Might, and Nezu walk out of the conference room.
Nezu looked surprised to see her, "Oh, Kit, I didn't know you would be here this early in the morning."
Kit eyed everyone who looked more stressed than normal, "I wanted to get myself ready for the next semester; the earlier the better."
"If I would've known, I would've had you join the meeting as well." He sighed, "There was… an incident at the training camp with the Wild, Wild Pussycats."
Kit's hand came up to rest above her heart, "What?"
Yamada could see the panic begin on her face, "Whoa, calm down, Little Missy." He came forward to put an arm around her back while the other held a wrist, "Breathe."
The other teachers eyed her with a worried expression and even Snipe stepped forward, "Maybe we should sit her down."
"I'm going to make a few phone calls." Yagi put his hands together, "Forgive me."
Kayama looked conflicted as well, "I need to go finish up some things for the start of the year as well."
"I think we have her." Nezu told them kindly and opened the door for Mic to guide her through to a seat, "I'll get her some tea."
Snipe followed closely behind, "Where should we start?"
"The beginning is always best." Nezu sighed as he quickly returned with a cup for her, then relayed to Kit the details of what happened, "I should've thought to call you any way to come to the meeting. Please forgive me, Kit."
"Who all knew where the location of the training camp was supposed to be?" Kit's voice was hoarse, yet showing her frustration.
"We've already spoken about the possibility of there being a traitor here at U.A." Mic told her softly.
"You're saying this again and basically pointing fingers, Yamada." Snipe snapped at him.
"Well, I know Kit isn't the traitor and I sure the hell am not; my fucking best friend was there and I wouldn't want anything to happen to him." Yamada's voice was rising slowly and Kit could tell he was close to activating his quirk if he wasn't careful.
"I do not think she is the traitor," Snipe looked at Kit for a moment, then back to Mic, "But how do you know she isn't?"
"Because she is practically in love with Aizawa! She wouldn't hurt a hair on his head." Mic shouted, causing the rest of the group to go quiet.
Kit closed her eyes slowly; was it that obvious? "Thanks, Mic." She stood from her seat then looked to Nezu who was trying to calm down Yamada, "Call me if you need anything." She pulled out the key to the building and placed it on the desk before making her way out of the room.
"God… Fuck, Kit!" Mic stepped away from the group as well, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to tell everyone that, but I want them to know how I know you're innocent."
She knew he meant well, but the hollow embarrassment settled in her chest, causing her to become paranoid about her own feelings; did Aizawa know she cared so deeply for him? Did everyone else know she carried deep feelings for him? Maybe she should've taken her lessons on concealing her emotions a bit more seriously when she was back with Master Takao and Master Kanda.
She couldn't bring herself to say anything to him, so she just kept going till she reached her office. She gathered up her things slowly, placing the files on the desk for when she got back and made her way home to think about what god she pissed off in her previous life.
A few nights later, Kit watched on her rarely used television as both teachers that had gone to the training camp and Nezu, spoke to the press. It was actually hard to watch Aizawa on the television because she knew how deeply he resented reporters and the media. Sometimes she found it funny that his best friend just happened to be in the media as well, but that wasn't very funny to her at the moment. The only thing she took slight pleasure in was the way Aizawa looked in a suit; the man knew how to clean up though he rarely did.
She had already called Mera, to inform him that there was talk about the possibility of a traitor among the staff or students of U.A. He took this information very seriously and even had the President join the call so she could basically tell her the same thing. This she deemed important for them to know since apparently they didn't know that only a couple of staff knew where the training camp had been rescheduled to. Unfortunately, Nezu wouldn't release all who knew so it didn't cause any hostility among the staff, so she couldn't give them staff names, but they were thankful for the information she was able to gather anyway. She personally didn't think it was a student, but she had to be realistic when mentioning it to the HPSC.
Mic had tried to call her a few times, but she just couldn't bring herself to answer the phone. The only call she took was from Nezu who informed her that she needed to invest in a business casual outfit if she didn't have one, but didn't tell her why exactly yet, but she did it anyway so she could be prepared for what he wanted her to do.
She had hoped that Aizawa would have contacted her at least, but she figured that he was busy dealing with the legality of everything that had happened at the training camp. All she knew was that she could've really used his unwavering personality at that moment, but she knew she was being selfish. So, instead, she opted to lounge around in her pajamas all day to deal with her grief.
The interview had just ended on the television and just as she was about to turn it off, it switched, causing her to pause. On the screen was All Might over what looked to be a man with a broken mask, the entire area around them leveled to the ground. She watched as he reared his arm back to punch the man when a shockwave blew him away and actually towards what she could assume was a helicopter in the sky recording what was going on. A flash of yellow came across him and he was gone for a moment while the camera attempted to find him again.
When the camera did finally find him, she felt ice go through her veins because even through the television screen, she could tell he was struggling. Soon after, another blast was sent his way and all Yagi could do was block, but soon you couldn't see his body again.
Her phone vibrated on the table in front of her and a bright message from HPSC popped up on her screen 'EMERGENCY STANDBY – CHECK IN'. Were they giving up on the Symbol of Peace already? She wasn't a huge fan, but she did have respect for the work that he did as a hero. Her thoughts instantly changed when the screen cleared, and she gasped when she saw his true form instead of his muscular form. She looked back at her phone to hit the confirm button and didn't bother to turn off the screen. All that basically told them that she got the message and would be ready, though she knew that if All Might couldn't take on this villain, none of them would be able to.
On the screen, there seemed to be an exchange of words for several minutes, but she could see part of his body start to inflate giving her a little bit of hope then. The criminal on the screen seemed to also rise to the occasion, but then it was as if the cavalry had finally arrived as a blast of fire was sent towards the villain. The camera panned to show Endeavor and Edgeshot attacking while Kamui Woods and another hero she didn't recognize started pulling out the other pro heroes from the rubble around them.
This only seemed to irritate the dark villain and he sent another attack out towards the heroes that were attacking him with another blast of what she could only say was a shockwave again. Soon after, the criminal's arm began to transform into something gruesome and then he dived forwards towards All Might and when their fists connected, this bright wave of energy rose between them as it began to push All Might back.
Before he got too far back, the muscles in his bottom half seemed to inflate to help bring him to a halt while he seemed to transfer the muscles inflation from one arm to the other to swing at the villain. While she thought that was it, All Might then switched his inflation once more to let his fist connect with the bad guy, but the air pressure seemed to cause the camera man's helicopter as it began to weave for several minutes.
When the camera once again refocused, the leveled Kamino ward was still for a moment while the dust settled. Kit herself couldn't keep her breath from hitching as All Mights form finally became uncovered and he slowly lifted a shaky arm to the air with the villain below him, unmoving, before staggering into his muscled form.
Kit shut off the television, unable to take much more emotionally, and let herself lay across her couch. Rolling onto her back, she stared at the ceiling above her and she just knew those things for them at U.A. were going to change.
Darting into a sitting position, Kit hadn't realized that she had fallen asleep, but she then realized it was knocking that woke her up in the first place. Rubbing a fist into her eye to get the sleepy feeling out, she quickly made her way to the front door to open it.
She still felt hazy, but she snapped out of it when she heard a low sigh, "Can I come in?"
Kit blinked a few times at him, and then moved to the side, "Of course… Shouta…" He walked in and after kicking his dress shoes off, he shuffled into her sitting room, "What are you…? Are you okay?"
"Just tired." Kit looked at the clock and noticed it was close to one in the morning, "Hizashi told me that you two had an altercation. He wouldn't give me details, but he hadn't been able to get a hold of you since." He slouched onto her couch, "I know Nezu spoke with you, but…" He lifted a set of tired eyes to look at her, "I had to check on you for myself."
Kit stood still for a moment before rushing over to sit next to him, her arms wrapping around him, "God, I was so worried about you." She felt him lay his face on her shoulder and she felt guilty now for not answering Mic's calls if it meant that this man would be at home asleep already knowing she was okay, "You were not hurt right?"
"No, I actually had no injuries at all." He spoke against her shoulder, his breath giving her goosebumps, "What kind of fight did you get into with Hizashi to cause you not to talk to him?"
She opened her eyes to look across the room, her gaze not connecting with anything, "It was something petty and stupid…" She tightened her hold on him though, "It isn't important right now." She then remembered something, "Let me go get something."
Aizawa leaned away from her and she quickly left the room to return within a couple of minutes to stand in front of him, "Hm?"
Kit held out the clothes he let her borrow from the other day, "Put these on. I have a guest bedroom that you can stay in that is clean."
He eyed the clothing sleepily before grabbing them, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah." She let her tails flick behind her, "I wouldn't feel comfortable with you walking home with how tired you are."
He let out a breath, "Thank you." He stood and made his way slowly into the bathroom before coming out several minutes later with his dress clothes over his arm, "You wouldn't happen to have a hair tie, would you?"
She blinked at him, then nodded as she went over to an end table to pull open a drawer, "I don't use them often, so a large pack of them last me a long time." She pulled a band out of a pouch and held it out to him, "I'll hold your clothes for you."
Exchanging the hairband for his clothes, she found herself watching as he placed the band between his teeth to throw up his hair behind his head, and then wrapping the band around it. This caused her to stare at him for much longer than she should have. Thankfully, his eyes were closed during this process and didn't open them again until he let his arms fall to his side again.
When he gave her an expectant look, she almost jumped, "Oh, I'll show you the room." He took his clothes from her again before she led him up the stairs and down a hall to open the door to a room that held a large bed, "Do you need any extra pillows or anything?"
"No." He set his clothes on the nightstand and pulled down the blanket, but then seemed to be examining the bed.
He didn't move for a few moments as he stood next to the bed and she took a few steps closer, wondering if he was okay or if there was something wrong with the bed, "Shouta?" Kit nearly yelped when he sat down on the bed, he grabbed her hand and yanked her down to lay beside him on the far side of the bed, "What are you doing…?"
"Sleep." He commanded he pulled the blankets up around them, his arms then coming up to wrap around her, "I just want to sleep."
Not quite sure what to do, she pulled back her face to look at his, but his eyes were closed and she could tell he was already slipping off into sleep. She couldn't think of a reason why he was doing this, unless Hizashi actually did say something to him, but Aizawa was never one to lie. She couldn't help but smile softly and let herself scoot closer to him to press her face against his chest. She released a happy sigh when his arms tightened around her and she too found herself slipping off to sleep.
Once again, Kit found herself coming to the waking world by other means than her normal routine. Opening her eyes slowly, she realized that she must have turned over at some point in her sleep because she was now facing the far side of the room where the curtains were. Light was slightly filtering from under those curtains as well, letting her know it was at least after dawn.
A shift on the bed caused her to roll slightly onto her back to see Aizawa partially sitting up using the hand closest to her while the other was rubbing his eyes, "Shouta?"
The hand rubbing his eyes froze at her soft call, and then he dropped his hand to look down at her, "I didn't mean to wake you."
"It's okay." She sat up too, looking down her body to make sure her top didn't rise up or twist to make her indecent, "I'm normally up early." Her ear closest to him cocked his way, "Are you okay?"
He sighed heavily and for a moment he looked down at his lap, "I wasn't thinking clearly last night." Kit's heart froze in her chest at the sound of regret in his tone, "I shouldn't have put you in such a position."
"Oh." Kit let out after a few quiet moments, then began to slowly shuffle her way from under the blankets, trying to remain calm, "Uh, do you want breakfast?"
Kit made her way towards the door while she waited for his reply, "No, I think I'm going to go home and shower. I'm not feeling very hungry."
She bobbed her head at his response, feeling as if she was just going through the motions, "Okay." She didn't even have the urge to be polite and see him out the door, "I'll see you at later."
She walked out of the room and quickly made her way to her room, closing the door behind her to slide down it, bringing her knees to her chest as she pressed her face into them.
