Chapter Eighteen

Gemma's P.O.V.

It is finally weekend meaning no more assignments that need to be handed in. No more waking up early, not that I have been getting any sleep these past few days. It's also the day of Evan and Thomas' pool party which the girls have decided to sleepover and I regrettably agreed. The girls and I are still not on speaking terms although we've managed to be in the same room without any awkward tension between us. Believe it or not, that's progress. We are busy packing and preparing for the party and sleepover. I packed my bags last night because I have a morning shift at the café. I left the flat letting the girls know that I'll see them later with a small nod.

I arrived at the café at 9 a.m. taking over Amy's shift who has to go and fetch her son, Andrew, from day-care because he became sick and she needs to take him to the clinic. I offered to take over her shift considering that I have nothing to do and I don't want to be a the flat the entire day. I was busy wiping down some tables humming to a song playing in the café when Brittney came in for her afternoon shift. I walk over to the counter to take my place at the cash register. "You look tired, are you okay?" I heard Britt ask from behind me. I turn around to look at her ready to tell her one of the lies I had thought of last night if anybody were to ask me that question. "Yeah, I'm good plus when I am not tired." I replied laughing lightly. She seemed convinced, but I know the topic will come up again. The day went by rather fast and the next thing I know it's time for this party.

We arrived at the boys' house and I hate to admit it, but their house is awesome. They have a huge living room in front of the house with the kitchen next to it and the backyard has a pool, a bar and a huge space to play football, train or whatever. Next is the movie room which is situated at the back of the house and the have a game room situated in the basement. Upstairs there are six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and flat screen television. The seventh bathroom is located directly opposite the staircase. "How could you afford all this?" asked Caitlyn with a look of astonishment. "My dad gave us this house. It is still his, but we live in it." Evan replied with a shrug. Damn, Wish I had parents like that. We left to our designated rooms to change into our bathing suits. I was the last one to come out. I was wearing a dark blue full piece bathing suit with a black sundress over it and my union jack beach towel. The others were outside by the pool when I joined them. Adam and Thomas were in the swimming pool and Evan was busy chatting to Caitlyn. Jess was sitting on the beach chair watching the boys in the pool trying to dunk each other. I chuckled softly at them, she heard me and looked up in fright. I smiled softly and sit down next to her. I did something I never thought I would, I gave her a hug and just like that everything that has happened before just seemed to have disappeared. We started chatting about everything, getting so lost in the conversation that we failed to notice the bright smiles on the boys faces as they watched the two girls talk like they used to. They gave each other a mischievous look before they jumped out of the pool storming towards the girls lifting them up in their arms and jumping back into the pool with the girls laughing and screaming. Evan and Caitlyn watched as this happened and gave each other a high five before joining the others in the pool laughing. The six friends laughed and enjoyed their time together unaware of the dangers that lurk beyond the gates of that house. One danger already slipped through and it is only a matter of time before it reveals itself.
