Royalty AU! Part 3

The once a camp for leisure had now become a battlefield. Swords clanked, the fire spread throughout the field, thunder crackled, helpless screams rang through, blood spilled.

Mortals clearly had the upper hand, as their empress had predicted. The immortals were drunk asleep and once a person was woken up suddenly; they didn't register what happened around them.

Scarlett slashed through the crowd of immortal soldiers. She was covered in blood, burns, scratches, and many more injuries. Her magical resources were dwindling down as mages unleashed fire upon her, vampires attacked from the back, and wolves bit into her.

She had to do something quick and fast. Her mind came up with something absurd: kick them in the groin. A vampire attacked her from the back and she gave him a spinning kick on the groin. He didn't have time to scream in pain as she knocked his head off his shoulders.

A mage tried to conjure up a spell, but they were cut off by Scarlett. A wolf came at her and Scarlett caught it by the neck. It tried to bite her, but she snapped its neck. The same mage tried to attack her, but she kicked her hard into a tree.

The next lot came at her. She sprinted and jumped. With that, she somehow notched three arrows. Her fingers left them, and they sped towards them. None of them hit the immortals. Fuck, she gritted her teeth.

Scarlett came to a rolling stop and punched a mage on her nose as she was conjuring a spell. The spell backfired and burned the witch. Scarlett took out her knife coated with silver. A vampire attacked her in a chokehold, she bit into his hand but he didn't budge.

Somehow she grazed the vampire with her knife. His skin evaporated and his arm slightly bulged like an allergy reaction. She took this as an opportunity and threw him over her shoulder and slashed her knife through his ribcage.

She pulled out the knife, leaving him there to bleed, and sprinted towards the main camp where the immortal empress was when a mage blasted her up in the air. 'Oh shit.'

She flew over the entire camp and saw her army having the upper hand. Falling down; she hit a few trees, branches, and leaves went into her mouth. She crash-landed into the woods, far away from the battlefield. Her left arm had hit the ground first, and she heard her arm crack. She bit her lip and stood up. She held her left arm and ran towards the camp.

When she was almost there, her body hit something. A barrier. She flew a few meters away because of the force. Scarlett was astounded. How is there a barrier when she clearly had flown into this place?

"Like the additional barrier?" Scarlett gasped and turned towards that familiar voice. The immortal empress was leaning against a tree and was biting into an apple.

"You! You're the one who created the barrier?!"

She mockingly grinned. "Yes hon, do you like it?"

"Fuck you!"

"I'd love that."

"Shut up!"

She rolled her eyes and created a hole in the ground using her magic. She threw in the apple core and the soil covered the hole by itself.

She turned towards Scarlett, who was boring holes into her. "You know I ain't going to die if you stare like that."

Scarlett flared. "Why did you create the force field? To kill me off with no one knowing?"

"Umm… Nah! That would be too cowardly and stupid. I'd rather do something else."

"Just like how you are right now?" Scarlett mocked.

The immortal empress gave her a sweet smile which meant trouble. "Darling, just because I didn't appear on the battlefield doesn't mean I'm a coward. You've walked right into my trap."

"What trap?"

The immortal empress ignored that request. "Do you really want to have a war with immortals? Lose a million lives that mean something to everyone else? To their family? Loved ones?" She paused and mumbled. "To feed your ego to expand your empire?"

Scarlett snapped. She sprinted towards her with the knife in her right hand, but the immortal empress waved her hand and it sent Scarlett crashing into a tree. She tried to stand up but failed. She gritted her teeth and leaned against the trunk.

The immortal empress sighed. "Darling, just give up, you can never win against me."

"Stop calling me darling!"

She took no offense and puckered her lips. "Wait, you asked me something before, right? What was it?" She tapped her chin. "Oh yeah! You asked me what trap I had laid for you to walk in!"

She gestured towards the battlefield and announced. "As you can see, the immortal soldiers are fighting with yours, right?"

"Stop giving your presentation and fight me!"

"Shut up, I'm not done talking. As I was saying, the soldiers fighting your army aren't actually my army."

Scarlett frowned. "What do you mean?"

"My actual army is right now chilling around us." As she said that, millions of immortals appeared around them.

They were grilling, talking to each other, being all friendly towards each other. Whatever barbaric behavior she saw before was broken. No prostitutes, no yelling, no indecent noises, and they were just like the people as she fought on the battlefield. They were being actual people!

Scarlett mumbled. "No no no, this can't be happening. I saw you there, talking to them. This can't be true!" All this time, her army and she were fighting against illusions?! How blind were they?! Oh wait, that's the concept behind illusions.

The immortal empress stepped towards her. "The ones that were fighting against your army are illusions. We were hiding here all along. I told you, don't start a war against us. You mortals may be courageous, but us immortals are smarter than you."

She snapped her fingers, and a huge wildfire spread throughout the battlefield, burning everyone there.

Scarlett couldn't believe it, they defeated the Mortal Empire. And now, it's under the Immortal Empire.

The immortal empress whispered. "Welcome to the party, prisoner."
