A Confrontation

"Huuu… it hurts." Toma cried. He got a black eye from my punch yesterday. I feel bad for him, but that wouldn't even happen if he wasn't so stupid.

"Don't be such a baby."

"I'll stop if you take responsibility for this." He points at his eye.

"Like hell I will, you deserve that well."

He frowns at my response. Once I got everything ready, I was good to go to school. And when I was about to get out of the room, Toma catches up with me. "Wait! Don't forget about me."

"This violates the rules of our three month distancing agreement, you should let me go first." I reminded him.

"Huh? Are you really still going on about that? You didn't even set up rules for that agreement."

"Don't you have common sense? You know what distancing is, right? So stop following me."

"Hmph, whatever." It worries me that there's only a month left to this agreement, and Toma hasn't changed at all. The agreement actually made him more attached and annoying, maybe that was a wrong decision? Though none of that matters right now, there's something far more important that worries me most.

As soon as I got to my first class, my eyes searched for Xia. And I saw her at her usual spot, she still looks pale and sick. Geez what's happening to her? I wish she'd tell me her problem. Because I'm sure of it, the guy with Toma last time has something to do with the way she's acting right now.

"Mornin'." I greeted her.

She just smile as she saw me. I was already used to her greeting me with such a loud voice and huge smile every morning. Now that she's acting like this, it feels unusual and sad for me.

"Xia I-" I was just about to talk to her about what worries me, but she was the first to approach me about it.

"Yuji…"

"Yeah?"

"Can we talk later?"

"Sure."

"Thanks." It was cold. Her gaze was cold, her words are cold, and it made me terrified of what the 'talk' will be later. A train of 'what ifs' started to run in my mind. The class discussion couldn't sink in at all because I'm too distracted by Xia.

When the class was over, she brought me to a place with less people and started 'the talk'.

"Yuji." There she goes again with her cold tone.

"…what's wrong exactly?"

"I really like you." She looks down as she continued. "And I hope you forgive me for the stupid things I've done-"

"H-Hey, hey. Why are you talk like that all a sudden? It's like you're going to…" I couldn't finish my sentence because I got afraid she might say that it's exactly what she's trying to talk about.

Her cold reaction suddenly changes, and she looked like she's about to cry. "Yuji!" She ran to hug me tightly.

"Xia…"

"I'm really sorry Yuji."

"There's nothing to be sorry about, right? So quit saying that."

"No!... no I…"

"…" The she let go of me. It got so hard for me to breathe with the tension of her words and actions.

"I'm really sorry, Yuji but we should break up."
