Chapter 4 New knife

Some of the rarer types of fire magic but still well-known include

Flame generation and control

Lightning

Environment heating

And of course my Phoenix fire

And many more

One must remember just because a magic type is rare doesn't mean it is strong and just because a magic type is common doesn't mean it is weak, it all depends on the power itself, the talent of the person and how they use it.

1 week later

During the week not a lot has happened and Jack was slowly getting used to little light constantly talking in his head and was starting to figure out what the system was.

According to little light the system acts as an aid to assist someone throughout life that no one else can see, Jack tried asking why he had gotten the system but little light claims that his Authority level wasn't high enough so she didn't know yet, Jack had tried playing with his magic a bit but just couldn't figure it out past covering his fingers with mana for a short while.

'jack' little light said

'yah?' Jack responded, trying to figure out how to use his magic while preparing for his first hunting trip with his uncle, josh, and the twins. Josh and Jacks mother run his late grandfather's butcher shop in the village which was opened when the two where younger, but when their father died Jacks mother took over the selling aspect of the store and josh took over the hunting, he often hunted around the edges of the woods but sometimes joins travelling adventures when they pass by the village into some of the deeper areas.

'I just found something in the system but you have to promise not to be mad' little light said slightly nervous

'let me see' Jack said with a stern voice

Jack sat there in silence for a few seconds processing the fact he has wasted a week trying to figure it out himself when there was an option to click the skill the whole time.

Both he and little light didn't know that in the system was a rearrange option that allows the system to look however they want but the system has some hidden features that need to be brought out by it

'WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME BEFORE' Jack yelled in his mind

Little light went silent

'OH no no no no don't you go silent on me'

But little light stayed silent, trying to ignore Jack till he calms down a bit.

'fine I'll figure it out myself'

But before Jack had a chance to click on one of the skills.

"Jack GET YOUR SORRY ASS OUT HERE" an old and spiteful voice yelled

This, of course, was Jack's mother, Elizabeth, she was a spiteful old woman who runs the butcher shop with Jack's uncle.

"WHY" Jack yelled back

"YOUR UNCLES HERE"

Jack left his room and entered the kitchen where he saw a middle-aged man standing at the door, this, of course, was Jacks uncle Josh, a tall man with greying hair with a large bow and multiple knives at his hip and unlike jacks mother he was polite but carried himself in a confident manner.

"good morning Jack"

"morning uncle josh" Jack yawned

Josh then handed Jack a small wooden box with a ribbon on it

"what's this?" jack asked as his curiosity started to rise

"I was going to give it to you on your birthday but now seems like a good as time as any"

Jack opened the box and inside it was a basic single-edged knife about the size of Jack's forearm.

Jack looked at the knife for a while not knowing what to say

"well don't just look at it why don't you give it a swing then," Josh said

Jack picked up the knife and held it in his hand for a second before holding it above his head and swinging down into empty air.

"so do you like it," josh asked but got no response

Jack just stood there staring at the knife in his hand. Jack didn't know why but for some reason just holding the knife somehow just felt right in a way as if he felt a slight connection to it but that feeling was lost when he heard a certain voice in his head.

'oh, Jack look at this'

'what is it little light' but before he  had a chance to finish the system popped up

'oh' Jack repeated interested but chose to take a look at it later on when he's not busy

"Sorry, thank you for the knife uncle john," Jack said with a slight bow towards john

"haha don't worry about it, any way you ready to go"

Jack nodded and left the house with john

"He's so much like his father" Elizabeth muttered to herself as they walked out the house.

As Jack and John were walking to the edge of the village near the forest John was talking about the different things Jack and the twins will be learning that day.

"I won't be taking you and the twins hunting today as it is a bit too dangerous right now I will be teaching you some of the basics of using weapons and hand to hand combat. and a bit about how to incorporate your magic into these things on top.

As John said this a small flame appeared above his index finger

John was always able to use a small amount of fire generation and found ways to incorporate it to his fighting style.

John and Jack continued to talk as they walked to the edge of the forest where they saw the twins waiting for them.

Helmer stood there with an excited look on his face and on his knuckles was some thin metal plating, next to him stood Dave with a similar loadout as Jack's uncle.

"Alright," josh said as he looked at the twins

"let's get started, first Helmer show me what you got"

"em… you mean like fight you??" Helmer said not sure if he understood properly

"Yep"

"Ok if you say so I guess"

Helmer and Josh stood opposite each over and Helmer was starting to get excited

"come on then"

Helmer ran towards Josh and threw a wild punch which he dodged with ease and gave Helmer a slight smile, Helmer continued to throw these slow and uncoordinated punches and josh continued to dodge, Helmer began to feel frustrated and started to run out of steam and He decided to throw one last large punch and josh at this point thought that he had seen enough and did some basic footwork to end up next to him mid punch and tripped Helmer over with his foot with little effort.

"While it is obvious you have a bit of experience fighting with the other kids in the village you have never gotten any proper training, your strength is good but your not using it to its full potential with those wild punches, for the rest of the lesson I want you to practise this, "

He then looked at Dave and Jack

"you two watch as well, while you won't be mainly learning this stuff I will be teaching you in future lessons so it would help to pay attention"

Josh then continued to do a basic one-two punch starting by hitting his left arm out at a fast speed and then continuing to throw a slightly slower but much more powerful punch with his right.

"as I said, helmer I want you to practice this basic puch for the rest of the lesson and you two I want you to try this when you have time, while it doesn't have to be your main combat style it does help to stretch out into different branches, who knows maybe you'll find something your more skilled in"

"Dave" he continued as Helmer started to practice the one-two punches.

"For now I want you to try and attempt to shoot those targets on the trees, I'll show you how to line up your bow properly but don't worry if you don't get it at first"

Dave just gave a simple nod in response and began to do as Josh instructed and attempted to shoot the beast shaped targets on the trees, hitting some missing most but always close, Josh seemed impressed seeing that Dave had some talent in this.

Josh then looked at Jack and threw a wooden knife with a single edge at him.

"well then," he said, pulling out a similar looking one, only difference being it was a bit shorter and had two edges.

"let's see what you got"
