Chapter 6 Heavier

Dragons are amazing creatures, they are one of the only beasts that can be found in every type of environment, be it the oceans or active volcanos. All lizard type beasts contain small traces of dragon blood in it giving all of them a chance of evolving in to a dragon during the evolution process, but this is very rare and the chances that the beasts offspring will be born a dragon is next to impossible. legend says that there hasn't been a pure blooded dragon on our world for centuries.

Jack continued to look at the fire for a while, taking in everything he saw

'what is this power, why did I want it so bad for a second there' he thought to himself not knowing what to think of it

Jack then looked at his knife and thought what might happen if he spread his mana to it and felt a weird desire to find out.

"Now," josh said

"Why don't you lot try"

Dave quickly nodded and drew one of his arrows and coated his arm with mana, but Helmer looked at the metal pleating on his hand and Josh knew what he was thinking.

"fist fighters don't have to worry about this stuff to much" josh said to Helmer

"just try doing those punches again but this time coat your hands in mana, K"

Helmer nodded and coated his hands in his mana.

"Uncle Josh, I still don't know what my magic does. let alone it being useful for a weapon" Jack complained.

"Just try it anyway jack, who knows maybe your magic is an anomaly type magic to do with weapons, it never hurts to try"

Jack pulled out his new knife and coated a single finger with mana and made a small cut, josh was slightly amazed at how much natural control Jack had with his mana, while the twins can't move there mana around and are forced to bring out all of it at once, Jack was able to only bring out a small part of it and have it surround his finger. After making a small cut jack continued to wipe his blood along the back of the knife, he felt the mana leaving his finger and into his blood which was soaking into the knife, the glow of purple on his finger began to dim and the back of his knife began to glow, he waited for a second and tried to swing the knife around a bit but grew disappointed when nothing happened.

Jack looked to Dave to see if he had gotten any result, but only to see that Dave was looking at a bloody flint tip arrow with an annoyed look.

Josh looked at Dave with pity

"as I said before if the weapons material doesn't have good synergy with your mana then it's not going to work to well no matter how much blood you put on it, I'd try asking the local blacksmith to make some arrow tips made of metal"

Dave looked at josh and simply said

"okay"

While looking fine Dave was actually quite frustrated that he couldn't use his mana on his weapon as Jack and Helmer could.

"ok," josh said diverting his attention to all of us

"For now at the end of each lesson I want you all to run one lap around the village, I will increase this amount once a week while we do are lessons"

They all looked at Josh with a pleading look already tired from there previous training but he wasn't having any of it so they just decided to get it over with, while the village itself wasn't too big it was a least a 50-minute run total and josh would not let the boys slow down past a certain speed.

After Jack was finally allowed home he collapsed on to his bed and was about to do something he was looking forward to all day, he asked little light to open the Magic screen part of the system.

'Pfffft that took you a week' little light went

'shut up'

Jack continued to cover his index finger with a little mana

'heavier'

Suddenly the purple hue around Jack's finger began to sink into it before disappearing Jack thought that it didn't work at first but started to feel a slight change to his finger and felt that is was hard to keep it up, it was as a small weight was added to his hand but a slight pain appeared in his head.

'well this is interesting' Jack thought

He began to pour more mana into his finger and felt it become heavier and heavier but had to stop when the headache was starting to get bad.

His finger now weighed just under 2 kg, his hand was shaking he was finding it hard to keep it up for an extended period and found it extremely hard to move it.

A short while after Jack stopped pouring mana into his finger the spell started to fade. Jack had a pounding headache and his eyes were bloodshot from using too much mana at once, his body was sore all over from the first day of training but Jack didn't care at the moment feeling happy that he finally made so progress in the magic department.

'oh?' Jack thought

'hey Little light, is there one of those description thingies for mana' Jack asked not wanting to make a similar mistake as before

'sorry it says that your authority level isn't high enough I have no idea what it is, what you are allowed to know is that this stat shows you how much mana you have left'

'what is authority level anyway?' Jack asked

'it says here that it's the information you have access to, the only way to increase it is by levelling up of doing special quests'

'like the beat the uncle one? '

'i don't know, Mabey?' She said

Jack decided to leave it for now and went to practice magic again this time wanting to see if he could do it to his knife but when he tried to gather mana around his finger again he suddenly grabbed the side of his head feeling it explode in pain and collapsed to the floor.

"AHHHH"

"Fucking idiot" a voice sounded from the doorway

"Hello to you to mum," Jack said huffing and sighing from the pain

"What happened to you? you look like shit?" she asked hiding the concern on her face.

Jack looked up at her kneeling on the ground and she saw his bloodshot eyes, she decided to drop her normal bantering nature and walked over to him to help him up and move him to his bed.

"get some rest and don't try to use mana when it's at its limit or you're going to hurt yourself, didn't your uncle tell you that"

Jack looked at her and said

"He… Said….to practice…. if I want to….. Use more mana" he struggled to get out, starting to release just how tired from today he was.

"Fucking hell your just like your father, the advice is only good if done right but if you overwork yourself you're only going to do more harm than good, get some sleep I'll talk to you in the morning" At those words Jack let sleep take him and drifted off

Elizabeth smiled and then stood up and walked over to her bed on the other side of the room and went to sleep herself.

The next morning Jack asked little light to open the system again, learning it can now update and was surprised by what he saw.
