Chapter 8 lighter
Dave felt very satisfied with the results of the shot. As he went to take the arrow out the tree, he thought back to how he had to plead to his parents to buy the iron-tipped arrow for him, after a couple of hours of pleading and pulling a bunch of favours he was able to convince them to buy 1 of the arrows.
Metal was hard to come by this far out in the kingdom and the metals they did have was mostly rusted iron so it was a hard job to make useful tools so it was quite expensive for the villagers, the local blacksmith who mostly fixed horseshoes, he was having what he considered a small boom of wealth due to Josh buying a hunter knife for jack and now Dave buying an arrow.
Dave thought that it was definitely worth the price with the results he achieved and he treated the arrow with great care when pulling it out.
When he got back to the group Helmer looked at him blankly and then back to his fist before covering it with lightning slightly thicker than yesterday and walking up to a tree and before anyone could stop him he performed a straight, he ended up leaving a fist-size dent not too deep in the tree before grabbing his hand and holding it in pain
"fuuuuuuuccccck," he said in discomfort
"What did you think would happen dumbass, the tree will snap in half?" Dave said sarcastically while Jack was laughing loudly at him and Josh had a smile on his face.
Helmer stood up embarrassed and walked off to his own little space before he started doing the punches over and over but for some reason sometimes a small amount of lightning would leave his hand and shoot a couple of cm in front of him.
The day continued like it did yesterday only difference is they were all using mana throughout to help increase the control and amount that can use, leaving them all with terrible headaches at the end, josh allowed Helmer and Dave to turn off there mana for the run at the end but made Jack make his ankles heavier claiming that he needs to increase his mana output the most and it would add an extra challenge to the run.
When Jack got home that day he had a pounding headache from all the mana use, loop but still asked little light to open the system.

Jack was thinking to himself if this would be enough mana to practice the lighter spell. He already had a fair idea about what it might do with its name alone and the effects it might have but he still decided to try it out anyway due to curiosity, he chose to use as little mana as possible so he doesn't give himself a headache again.
Jack started to gather mana around his finger.

Like before the mana started to collapse into his finger before disappearing but this time his finger felt disconnected from the rest of his body, it felt uncomfortable to move due to how easy it was, but he couldn't focus too much on it due to the headache getting worse and worse due to low mana and he decided to de spell it and test it out more tomorrow.
The next day Jack decided to arrive early again only to find Helmar already there practising his jabs and straights also adding something new he had learnt from Josh the day before called a hook, it involved him twisting the top part of his body at a high speed while throwing his fist in a hook motion and he did this in a couple of different angles.
Jack walked up to him and they greeted each other
"I'm not letting you get a head start today," Helmar said being happy to be here first
"Good for you big guy, I'm only here early to test something so ignore me and continue doing what you were doing," Jack said finding his own spot nearby and started to throw punches in the air as well, but every so often he would look over to Helmer and his hooks and decided what's the harm in trying and attempted to throw some hooks himself and immediately noticed the difference, they were slower but packed a lot more power behind them.
Jack continued to do this over and over again falling back into a trance letting the moments become more fluid and natural, after 30 minutes he stopped and thought to himself
'can I use the lighter spell with this?'
He began to cover most of his hand with mana not having enough yet to coat the whole thing

Suddenly his hand felt like it was hard to move due to it moving faster than he's naturally used to but after opening and closing his hand a few times he got used to it a bit.
He then clenched his fist and twisted his body and threw the punch, he felt his fist go faster than it ever did before, catching him off guard and causing him to fall over, Helmer watching this started to laugh still feeling bitter about being laughed at yesterday by him but Jack couldn't care less at the moment, he felt something there in that speed and knew he was close to figuring something out and stood up and tried again over and over and figured out that while the hooks where faster they were far weaker than before but knew there must be a way to overcome this, he began throwing these fast hooks and entered a trance once more but thought to himself.
'if I have to use lighter my punches lose weight and their power goes down but if I use heavier my punches gain power but lose speed' he was thinking to himself how to solve this issue until it hit him.
He threw one last hook but just before it hit the ½ point he suddenly got rid of the lighter spell and tried to replace it with the heavier spell, but he wasn't fast enough to change and his hand returned to normal weight but this was fine because he felt it there and then, he felt the punch hit the air with far more force than before, this is due to his hand's normal weight being added to the momentum caused by the lighter spell causing a far higher power output. But Jack still wasn't satisfied, and his hunger suddenly started to increase.
'it's incomplete, it can be stronger'
