I rotated my head frantically so that I can get a detailed view of this small space I was in. There were vines growing from every corner of this grey and muddy cave as well as white crystals protruding out of the grey stone, they made the small water lagoon located in the corner glimmer . The source of the water was most likely from the waterfall I could hear nearby, which meant a river was outside. I got up to my two feet and walked closer towards the crystals. I wanted to touch it and so I did, even though I knew I would feel no particular sensation. But still, there are no rules in a lucid dream you could do whatever you wish. I touched it and it was obviously cold but also unnaturally sharp.
As soon as I touched I felt a a stinging sensation so I quickly pulled back my hand. I looked at my index finger and saw that I'd given myself a minor slice.
'How did I feel that...' I panicked. But further panic came over me when blood started to ooze out from the cut. I frowned at it in disbelief, how could this be. Maybe I should try waking up now. But the blood was building up and dripping down from my finger in what looked like gallons. My whole forearm was now bloody, and from a mere paper cut. This has never happened, and not even in my nightmares. I could have simply just woken up and all of it would have been gone, but I didn't. I instead instinctively ran up to the pool of water and started to wash the blood off. Wait, it's making it worse I realised.
I scrubbed vigorously at my forearm to try get the blood off but it was as though the water ... was not water. In the sense that it wasn't doing its job of washing dirt and contamination.
'So this water doesn't work..' I laughed. So perhaps I am still dreaming after all.
'That's what it makes you believe.' A heavy voice with a strong accent spoke from behind me.
