A Hasty Evolution

"Well, it's nice to meet you as well, Bell. It still kind of feels weird for me to talk to a mosquito," Sixth Void said in response to Bell's words, letting out a light chuckle. In response, Bell lightly chuckled as well as he said, "It's also weird for me. To be honest, this is my first time talking to someone."

"Weirdness aside, is this enough for you to break through the curse of not being able to absorb qi," Sixth Void soon asked, giving Bell the feeling that he wouldn't mind finding more beasts for Bell to siphon if it meant that he was able to break through the 'curse' he had. Of course, Bell wasn't sure if the Constitution he would gain from these beasts' Constitution skills would be enough for him to reach a Constitution stat of 1, even if the peculiar feeling he felt from them was intense.

And so, with a hint of uncertainty, Bell replied, "I'm not sure. What I can assure you for now is the fact that I would be able to purify my bloodline by one more level with the beasts you've brought out."

"Speaking of which, where did these beasts come from?" he soon asked, though he had a feeling that the answer was already familiar to him who had read a lot of web novels.

Unsurprisingly, the answer was along the lines of what he expected, with Sixth Void redirecting a bit of his energy towards a bracelet on his right arm as he allowed it to faintly glow. He then said, "I have a spatial bracelet. Wait…do you know what a spatial bracelet is?"

'Yes,' Bell thought to himself, though he instead said, "No. What are those?"

"Well, a spatial bracelet is a type of bracelet that allows one to store a lot of things without feeling the weight of each and every thing stored inside it. Think of it as a backpack that doesn't feel heavy," Sixth Void replied, only to ask soon after, "Uh…do you know what backpacks are?"

"That, I do know," Bell said before deciding to ask his own set of questions. "Uh…is there a reason as to why you want to tame me as a pet?"

Hearing that, Sixth Void lightly scratched his head as he let out an awkward chuckle, saying, "Well, you can just say that it's my hobby to collect beasts that have rare bloodlines. Of course, by beasts, I mean animals or insects that have strength greater than the average ones. Naturally, with you having a rare bloodline, I'm quite inclined to tame you as my pet."

"Unfortunately, you have a curse that doesn't allow you to absorb qi," he continued, lamenting over the fact that he could not tame Bell.

As for Bell, he continued to ask away. "Well, if you were able to tame me as a pet, what would you do with me? Would you sell me off on a market or something?"

In an instant, Sixth Void profusely shook his head as he said, "Oh, no, no, no. I don't really like doing that. Once I tame a beast with a rare bloodline, I allow them to roam free in my spatial bracelet and do their own things. Of course, I give them a few things from time to time to make them stronger, but for the most part, I just like tending to them. I don't really know why."

"What happened to the beasts you brought out of your spatial bracelet, then? Did they die from old age or something?" Bell soon asked, to which the human lightly nodded before letting out a sigh of grief. Though, not long after, the feeling of grief soon disappeared from him as he replied, "Well, that's pretty much what happened. These beasts I've brought out have just died recently from old age. To be honest, I was planning to give them a proper burial, but since the blood of rare beasts would help you out, I decided to postpone the thought…unless devouring their blood would also mean the disappearance of their corpse?"

"I'm a mosquito, how can I devour a corpse?" Bell soon said, though by this point, he had come to the conclusion that Sixth Void was a kind person. Though, even if he thought that he was a kind person, he could not help but feel that there was a hint of hidden killing intent emanating from him at all times, as if he was a sheathed blade ready to attack at any time.

"Well, I guess you're right on that one. Sometimes, my common sense fails me," Sixth Void soon said in response, letting out a light peal of laughter.

After that, he waited for Bell to move towards the beasts he had brought out and siphon their blood. Though, even after waiting for a minute, he felt no movement from Bell at all. With that, he asked, "Why aren't you moving, Bell?"

"Well, if you could retract the pressure you're emanating in the area, then I guess I'd be able to move," Bell said with a tone of sarcasm, prompting Sixth Void to apologize to Bell before retracting the pressure he was subconsciously emanating thanks to his cultivation.

With that, Bell was able to retract his proboscis from the bear corpse, slightly finding it disgusting that he had siphoned blood near the bear's behind. Unsurprisingly, he placed this thought at the back of his head as he started to flap his wings and fly towards the entrance of the cave where the light was.

Of course, with how kind Sixth Void was, as well as the fact that he was giving him a lot of rare beasts to siphon blood from, the thought of escaping from Sixth Void was out of the question. Even if he wanted to, he had a feeling that Sixth Void was always be behind him.

And so, Bell gradually made his way to a spot a few meters away from the entrance of the cave as it was a flat area. While doing so, he told Sixth Void to follow him, telling him to carry the beast corpses with him. Since it was simple for Sixth Void to do so, he simply nodded as used a bit of his energy to envelop the beast corpses before allowing them to hover as he also made his way out of the cave.

With that, both Bell and Sixth Void had gotten out of the cave, with the two of them now having the chance to look at the other party for the first time. Sixth Void looked at Bell with a hint of surprise, thinking that he looked slightly different from the Night Walker Mosquito he was familiar with. The feeling Bell gave off was quite faint, which stemmed from the fact that his bloodline reduced his overall presence. Nevertheless, with his cultivation, it wasn't hard for him to know that Bell did have the bloodline of a Night Walker Mosquito.

As for Bell, he could not help but look at Sixth Void with surprise, wondering if he was incredibly handsome behind the mask. Well, in actuality, the mask Sixth Void was wearing only covered his mouth, taking on a jet black hue as it complemented the clothes he was wearing.

A dark gray t-shirt with a black jacket on top, with a pair of light gray pants completing his look. With his get-up, it gave Bell the feeling that Sixth Void wanted to be secretive, as if sensing him was a mistake, just like the bloodline he had. Other than a few small knives attached to the side of his pants, the most eye-catching thing about him were his silver hair and emerald irises. When one looked at that, one could not help but feel like they were looking at a piece of art from nature.

As Sixth Void dropped the beast corpses near where Bell was flying, he could not help but say to him, "Well, you look slightly different from what I expected."

"I definitely wasn't expecting you to look like that, so let's not judge each other," Bell said in response, to which Sixth Void shrugged his shoulders as Bell felt a light smile creep up on Sixth Void's face behind the mask.

Since he was now free to move, Bell went ahead and landed on the beast corpse at the top of the pile, raring to poke his proboscis through its skin and gain a huge amount of Constitution. Though, just as he was about to do so, he could not help but recall the warning the system gave him when he thought of siphoning Sixth Void's blood.

Wanting to make sure that he could siphon the blood of these beasts, he asked the system, "System, is it fine for me to siphon the blood of the beast corpses in front of me?"

Ding!

"To answer the owner's question, the concentration of energy in their blood is close to the limit of what the owner's body can handle, but is still safe for the owner to siphon. The system highly recommends the owner to siphon all of their blood."

"You took the words right out of my mouth," Bell muttered to himself with a chuckle as he soon poked his proboscis through the skin of the beast corpse at the very top of the pile.

Slurp…

As his siphoning efficiency worked at full power, he soon commanded the system to show him the amount of Impure Blood Energy he could siphon from it, only to be left at a loss for words as he soon found out that he could siphon 1,200 points of Impure Blood Energy from it. That amount was already double of what the Earth Scale Bear could give him, and the Impure Blood Energy inside it alone was enough to fill his current capacity up to the maximum. With that in mind, he could not help but wonder as to how much Constitution he could obtain from this beast corpse alone.

"Well, one thing's for sure. I'll be able to undergo my second evolution with just this beast corpse," Bell said as the system notified him that his storage was full. With that, he used a great portion of the Impure Blood Energy to upgrade [Earth Scale Bear's Defense] to Mastery Tier 1, bringing a decent boost to his Constitution stat.

After that, he commanded the system to focus the amount of Impure Blood Energy he siphoned towards [Blood Sac Proboscis], wanting it to reach the maximum level so he could evolve [Lesser Blood Dimension] to the next tier.

Surprisingly, the remaining Impure Blood Energy from upgrading [Earth Scale Bear's Defense] to Mastery Tier 1 was more than enough for [Blood Sac Proboscis] to reach the maximum level, prompting Bell to siphon a bit more blood from the corpse as he evolved both skills to the next tier.

Since the amount of Impure Blood Energy he would be obtaining from the beast corpses would surely be a lot, he evolved [Blood Sac Proboscis] to [Blood Amaranth Proboscis], which increased his maximum storage and siphoning efficiency by 2 every level. As for [Lesser Blood Dimension], he evolved it in the same path he took for his first blood storage skill, evolving it to [Lesser Blood Dimension — First Expansion]. At this tier, each level would increase his maximum capacity by 200 points, allowing him to siphon even more blood without worry.

Nevertheless, evolving [Lesser Blood Dimension] to the next tier alone was enough for him to siphon the first beast corpse dry, making Sixth Void's eyes slightly widen in surprise as he noticed how quickly the skin on the beast corpse became emaciated.

Ding!

[The being is now deprived of all blood.]

[You have learned the Constitution skill 'Silver Lupus King's Wisdom']

[Silver Lupus King's Wisdom (9/10) -> (MAX)]

[Constitution +0.015]

Just as Bell was moving onto the second beast corpse to deprive of blood, the system went ahead and told him, "You have exceeded the necessary requirements to undergo a second Bloodline Awakening. Would you like to undergo through this process now?"

"Hmm…" Bell pondered over it for a bit, looking at Sixth Void for a few seconds as he soon asked the system, "When other beings see me undergo the bloodline awakening, would they sense the system?"

In response, the system quickly replied, "To answer the owner's question, the system can only be sensed by those that also have the system when the owner is undergoing Bloodline Awakening."

"Since the system is saying that…that means Sixth Void doesn't have a system. I'm pretty sure it would warn me if he did have a system," Bell said, before eventually coming to a conclusion, inwardly chuckling as he thought to himself, 'Sixth Void, you'll definitely be in for a surprise.'

"I would like to undergo Bloodline Awakening."
