Dinner with Mom

Nancy and Luke left Dr. Bront’s office and walked to the family SUV parked outside. The sky was getting dark and a cool wind began to ruffle the back of Luke’s hair as he opened the passenger door and stepped inside.

“It’s starting to feel like fall, huh?” Nancy said. “I think the idea Dr. Bront had is good, don’t you Luke?”

“I don’t think it will help much.” Luke turned his gaze out the side window as his mother turned out into the street.

“Please give it a try, Luke. I would like that. Will you do it for me? I want to see you happy.”

“You don’t get it, mom. Talking won’t bring him back.”

“I know dear, but talking can help us to heal. We all need to do more talking. Just give it some thought, please.”
