Whoever spoke sounded so familiar. I turned back to see the person and to my surprise, it was Naxel. I point my sword at him angrily thinking that these Gems are now using some sort of magic to pull out an illusion or used some sort of weird magic to bring back the dead with good imitation.
"How dare you" I say angrily
"It's me Naxel, something happened and I someone rescued me from death" he responds
"Prove it!" I say
"Someone in the afterlife brought me back, it came with a deal which I accepted" he says
With his magic, he casts a spell and the smoke gathers into a small ball on his palm, exposing ourselves to the enemies surrounding us. He releases it creating a transparent smokescreen. The range was bigger and most of the Gems in it glowed purple while some didn't.
"What's this?" I ask
"These Gems don't have an army big enough to fight us, they're outnumbering us using illusion spells. The illusion spell they're using is strong enough to make it seem like the fakes are real but in reality, they're not. Just think of them as clones, most of their attacks feel real but it's just the attack of the real Gems hitting you" Naxel explains
"How did you do this?" I ask once again
"I infused a dispel spell into the smokescreen" he says
"What's this deal you made with the person, and who is he" I ask
"Well, I don't know how to explain it. But I met him in the ethereal plane, basically spirits. He said that he foresaw this event but I was needed to prevent a future event, so I agreed to do what he had asked and he used magic to return me to my body and healed my injuries" he explains
The Gems that glowed purple disintegrates leaving the real Gems left behind. Most of the guards were fighting clones which would explain them not being able to land a single hit. The remaining Gems tried to run away, but most of the knights surrounded them and prevented their escape.
"I'll leave this place to you Naxel" I say
"You should better hurry, the one I fought with here spilled the plan of them attacking straight at the capital, no one evacuated the place so they're going to be the casualties in this war against the rebels" Naxel responds
"Don't worry, I'll even greet Zaber on my way back for you" I reply
"Better check on him as well, I believe the main army of the Gems took another route to avoid us but still attack the second platoon" he says
I nod, understanding what he said and started moving. From a distance I can see the rest of the group making the run for it. I look around the battlefield and see that this time, Hollow Arthas are taking out the Gems one by one. I look back towards Naxel and he has already entered combat with a Gem which he easily defeats. I sprint to catch up with my team, and they slowly stop.
"What's wrong why are you guys stopping?" I ask
"It tooks us almost half a day to get here on foot, we're never gonna make it in time" Ravenna panics
"Don't worry about that! We still have to get there, let's just think of a way to make it there on time" I say
A scent appears in our area and becomes stronger, and a pink fog slowly emerges on us with a floral scent.
"Ugh what is this?" Dom asks
"I don't know! It's probably another attack, get ready!" I say
"An attack, where?" a voice sounding like Razz appears in the fog
"Razz? How'd you get here so fast?" Dom asks
The pink fog gets sucked into the container that Razz was holding. He seals it and shows it to the rest of us.
"This fog allows me to travel to people I've been with or place I've been to" Razz says
"What's the catch? That sounds very convenient" I say
"Well, there's a fifty-fifty chance of you in the fog either getting paralyzed or teleported" Razz says
"How do you know that?" I ask
"I traveled back to my home and got paralyzed, and then traveled back here using this fog. Let's try using it to get to the place we need to be" Razz says
"Hold on-" Ravenna tries to stop Razz
Razz opens the container and the pink fog quickly emerges out of the container. It obcures our vision and all I could see was pink, pink, pink. Everywhere was just a pink fog, I can't even see the sand I'm standing on. I could still feel myself moving, so I that means the fog will teleport me. I think of the place we're supposed to be, which was the gate where we left from. The pink fog disappears and I'm back at the gate alone. I look around and I can't seem to find the rest of my team. From a distance I can see an army of cloaked people heading towards here, they must be the Gems. I went inside the watch tower and saw that the guards were fast asleep. I try to wake them, but whatever spell they were placed in, they wouldn't wake up. In the room where they're asleep I see boxes filled with tools that I could use. I took wires, caltrops, ball bearings, some cloth, and three crossbows. I climbed up going on the wall and took a peek from a far, the army closes in. I placed the three crossbows facing downwards and loaded it with a bolt each. I placed the caltrops together in a cloth and tied it with wires. I tied the both end of the wire with two darts and threw the darts under the arch of the gate making the cloth filled with caltrops hang mid air. I made three bags of ball bearings using the cloth, and tied it to a wire, which I used to tie it to the three triggers of the crossbows. I hang the bags of ball bearings on both sides of the gate. Two bags in the outside, and one inside. I prepared my last smoke bomb. The army's getting closer to the gate, and a carriage in the middle of the army is visible, with three cloaked Gems around the carriage. Their boss must be in the carriage, with the traps set I should be able to easily assassinate their boss and escaping unscathed. I watched hidden hiding having half cover on the wall waiting for the right moment to activate the traps. If only the rest of the team was here, a better trap and plan of action would've been made. As of now, I'll have to stick with what I found and made. I kept waiting and waiting until they finally made it to the gate. I timed it right, and the carriage I targetted is right under the arch of the gate. I release the traps!
