Staring at my ceiling, which along with my walls, represent whom I've been over the years.
Nanny Pierce and the building security helped me by getting drawings of every period during my life since I was about five. Everything or character that I loved, I got drawn.
Secretly I loved bears and I still do, but it aches when I remember daddy's pet name for me.
I smiled at the baby on the wall wrapped in a blue blanket. I had that drawn when I remembered mom being pregnant when she died. Nanny Pierce was concerned, but I lied and said it was baby Jesus and that I needed him close.
But she was there at the therapist and remembered, but until a few weeks ago I had forgotten the purpose of the drawing.
Now I'm here for the first time since I remembered.
"Hey little brother" I whispered, "how's mummy doing? Tell her I'm back home and that I love and miss you guys so very much." I whispered to Harley, the name mom said she would name my baby brother when we left the doctor, because I was harassing her to let me, name the baby.
I chuckle at the memory of mom, as she muttered, "I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it to chatterbox first" with a smile. as she buckled me in.
That was our last day together, full of beautiful memories, until.. until that day, that last day, when we got home to give daddy the good news. That day, when Amelia pushed nummy, taking mummy and Harley away from me, forever.
Turning to lay on my stomach, "daddy please come back for me, I will never stop waiting." I whispered.
"Adian, I trust you and I love you! God, please protect him, wherever he is right now!" I prayed, falling into a disturbed sleep, because I couldn't get the manner in which Amelia spoke to Adian out of my mind. "I love you Adian" I remember whispering.
My entire night was restless, with dreams and memories of another time before nanny Pierce brought me here. Another place when I would wakeup, constantly screaming for my mommy and my daddy!
A noisy place at day and a scary place at night, because of all the monsters that came out from the walls!
Mel was beside me holding and wiping my face, while Basil stood observing me cautiously with folded arms.
"What...?" I started to ask, because I needed to remember what I dreamt about a past I didn't know about, but I stopped, because I was ashamed to voice my question.
If Adian was here, I could have asked him.
"Adian?" I whispered softly to Basil, who continues to stare at me, with an unreadable expression.
"Adian?" I asked again and this time he responds to my question with a small smile, that comforted my heart. I nod, acknowledging, that I understood, without an exchange of words.
His expression
I turned to Mel, "thank you!" I tell her and she places an arm on my shoulders and hugs me.
"You want me to remain with you?" she offers, kindly and I look up at Basil for his approval.
Walking closer to us, "yeah it's okay. It's morning already, so I'll get a head start on breakfast." He kisses Mel on her head and walks off, softly pulling the door behind him.
I need to know, so I quickly turned to Mel, "tell me please, what did I say in my dream?" I asked and by the surprise look, I know she wasn't expecting my question.
Looking down on the bed sheet with a frown creasing her forehead, "I can't be hundred percent sure, but you were crying for your parents. That I'm sure of" she says, looking at me thoughtfully.
"Did it seem that I lived in a strange place?" I prompted her, based on my vague memories.
Nodding, "yeah, I think so. because it sounded as if you didn't know the other people there. " she confirms, as she seems to be trying to recollect what I cried out.
"Uncle Carl, I heard you call uncle Carl to take you back to your parents." she smiled, nodding, pleased with herself for remembering something important.
"Uncle Carl" I repeated laying back down and Mel joins me.
Turning on her side to face me, using her hands to rest her head.
"Aren't you going to ask me about Adian?" she asks softly.
Shaking my head, "I trust him and most of all, I trust us" I responded and her smile broadens, before she closed her eyes.
"Sorry for cutting your sleep" I whispered, staring at her closed eyes.
"That's okay!" She mummers, sounding as if she's on the brink of sleep.
The two or three hours sleep that followed, were peaceful although a part of me wanted to remember more.
As promised, breakfast was already prepared for us and it was during this time that I brought up a topic that I had dreading for days.
"Basil" I raised my eyes, waiting for him for respond and when he did, I quickly asked, "what happened to nanny Pierce?" and by the way he sighed in relief, I gather, that wasn't the question he expected me to ask.
Nodding, "yeah, your nanny' he breathes deeply and leans back on his chair. " She met with a hit and run" he started and "no, no! Don't panic yet!" He stops me. "She escaped with minor bruises. Adian sent two securities to accompany her to the hospital and they didn't leave her side, until she arrived at her daughters residence.
"But.." I trailed off confused, unsure of what I should be asking. I raised my eyebrows, my eyes silently pleading for answers.
Picking up his coffee, he emptied his cup and slowly placed it back down, annoying me in the process.
"Oh for the love of god, just tell me what happened?" I yelled and by Mel's attitude, she shared my sentiments.
Chuckling, "yeah so like I was saying. Mrs. Pierce was involved in a hit and run in front of our lobby, but a guy was walking behind her on his phone, observed the car speeding up to her and was able to push her to safety. Our security was able to get the registration plate. The cops realized that it was a false number plate and they are still looking for the suspects. They are treating this case as attempted murder."
