Chapter Fourteen
Clinton got home and received the worst welcome he could ever think of from his dad .
"Finally !
The prodigal son is home !
He leaves home and lavishes money the way he wants and when he's done ,he comes back to his family !
What a son I've been blessed with !
Argh !
Sometimes ,I wonder if you're truly Clinton Brown ;my son !"Marcial said bitterly .
"Oh come on Marcial ,our son is back home after nine months and this is how you welcome him ,huh?
This is just not right !"Hazel got upset .
"Hazel !
Don't support him because he's your son !
Allow him to grow like a man for goodness sake !
Just take a drastic look at him right now ,he looks wretched !
He left home without saying a word to anyone !
And on top of that ,he left Liza behind as well without caring about how she will feel ; poor girl !
She took him in when she even knew that she could die from that !
And as the senior attorney for the Criminal Law Department ,he left me with his huge task !
He could have at least worked from Pangasinan but he didn't !
He kept lazing himself over there !
It took Liza to clear all the mess he made before he left !
It's time you spoke sense into your son because he is definitely moving on the wrong part !"Marcial added ,angrily while Clinton relaxed in the couch with crossed legs .
"Marcial !"Hazel gave him an eye but he didn't mind her .
"I'm tired Hazel and I will grab some rest !
Just spoil your son to the fullest !"Marcial left without any more words .
"Hmm!
You know ? Don't mind your father ,I promise to settle this out !
After all ,I'm your mother and I will support you till eternity !
Cheer up ! You don't look nice when you're bored !"Hazel pulled his chin childishly.
"You know ? Let's call a tart a tart ! I messed up; my bad !
In as much as you're trying to defend me ,the one who plays the piper dances to its tunes !
I'm sorry for everything !
It was all my fault; solely!"Clinton bent his head down in shame .
"Hmm! You messed up ,I know !
You're my son and I know you're not perfect but I will help you sort out your mistakes!
I will speak to Liza and help you settle things with her ,I promise!"Hazel smiled at him ambivalently .
"You're the best mum ever ...!"Clinton hugged her tightly.
Later that night , Marcial and Hazel got into a tough conversation about Clinton .
"Marcial ,don't you think you're being so hard on our son ?
I think you should give him some time ;at least , to figure things out !
He's just a kid !"Hazel complained .
"A kid you say ,huh?!
Hazel ! I know my son very well and I know how he thinks and does his things but I only want him to be mature !
I want him to face his actions and mistakes and not run away like a coward !
Don't stand by his side because he's your son !
He should learn how to deal with hardships and that's why he needs to deal with Liza all by himself !
We should not get involved !"Marcial stated bluntly.
"You know what ? Good night !
It's impossible trying to reach to an agreement with you !"Hazel pulled over the blanket on herself angrily .
Klara got home late in the night ,dragging her suitcase freely into Clinton's room and grabbing a fizzy drink for herself from his refrigerator.
"You're finally back !"Clinton affirmed with a giggle .
"Yeah ! I'm back !
As usual ,to fix your many mistakes! Aunt and uncle don't even know that I have returned from my trip !
When you left for Pangasinan ,I also had business to settle so I went on a trip!
I thought I was coming home to grab some rest after all the stress but I return home to know that you and Liza are apart and I'm like ,what the f**k did you do this time around ?
Gosh !
How could you make such a mistake ,buddy ?!
You're unbelievable,you know ?!"Klara said ,and threw herself onto his couch .
"Don't come and add more salt to my wound Klara !
It's either you're here to help me out or you shut up !"Clinton said , rudely causing Klara to get up and poke his forehead .
"I'm not your puppet !
Don't talk to me ever in that tone or else I will slide your couch against your rude face !"Klara added like a big sister .
"Sorry !
There's no need to lecture me now !
Give me solutions ,alright ?
Solutions !"Clinton said .
"Ah well ! Besides ,don't worry ,I know everyone is reprimanding you and I don't want to add up to your troubles so I'm going to devise various strategies that we will use in solving this problem .
Just trust me buddy !"Klara said , facepalming him .
"Okay ! So what're your brilliant strategies?"Clinton asked .
"Hmm! Grab some rest for tomorrow !"Klara said and left Clinton on suspense .
Liza woke up with a severe headache but the news been broadcast on the television got her to stay alert .
She sat up on the bed lazily as heat crept over her face in tension .
"Did you hear about what happened yesterday on television ?"
"Jean !
You startled me !
Jean ,you're back already?"Liza asked . "Yes Liza ! I'm back and besides it was just a three day trip but I guess I was welcomed by the worst news of all kinds !
Look at how yesterday's heavy rains have destroyed so many people !Families and the vulnerable have been rendered homeless because of this flood . I don't know why this always happens !"Jean sadly said .
"Yeah , that's so bad !

This reminds me of when I used to live in Shay City !
Floods ! Floods and floods !
Hmm!
What are you going to do now,Jean ?"Liza asked taking a seat by her side .
"For the mean time ,I have nothing in mind Liza !"Jean added .
"Umm! I know I haven't involved myself in dad's businesses that much but I know that the charity services can help out these poor people !"Liza suggested.
"Liza ,I know that but about sixty percent of lives and properties have been destroyed in various cities and it can't be easily dealt with .
We will surely ran out of goods and services since Carson's Charity Services support about seventy percent of the poor and needy in various cities . This time around ,the floods in these various cities have increased and I know other organizations would get involved but only a few will come to our aid !
It's gonna be a bit difficult this time !"Jean added .
"How many donors do you have so far?"Liza asked .
"Ten donors but even their supports wouldn't be enough to cater for these people !
We need more to support them or else we can back off from helping them !"Jean said .
"Don't worry Jean ,I will do something about it !
Till date ,I haven't shown any interest in dad's charity works but it is time to get involved in it !
Jean ,make proceedings with the materials and donors you have ,I will deal with the rest !
Trust me !"Liza assured with a smile .
"Liza ,are you sure of this ?"Jean asked .
"You just trust me Jean !
I will help you people set things right !These people need our support and we shouldn't hesitate to do so !"Liza added .
"Ben ,I have made arrangements to rescue the flood victims .We will proceed with the materials and donors we have for the time been !"Jean informed Ben once she stepped downstairs.
