"Jane, I know you don't like this but please don't cry." I say and kiss her forehead lightly. She holds my hand tightly as we knit through the traffic inside the city, all stagnant or moving very slowly.
The city beside the capital was in total chaos, and we could see the darker, blue electric clad lighting clouds moving rapidly overhead the capital city.
Jane's worry was obvious, considering how deadly the cloud looked over the citadel of the city from afar.
The speed that we were going at was deadly and so not close to thrilling, but we were following the cloud through the highway.
"WATCH OUT!" Jane cries when she spots a kangaroo leaping across the road to the other side. I quickly depend on my instincts and lift it up in the air. It was sloppy, and that's when I knew I needed more power.
Jane watches outside with a blurry vision, but astonished at how the lush green farms and crops grew dry as we passed over by them.
It was because I was draining the energy from the soil into channeling myself...
"How- how do you do that??" she asked through tears and perplexity, my answer being a quick shrug and driving at a more intensified speed.
"I'm used to everything that I do, baby. And please don't cry anymore. I'm never going to lose, I promise." I held her hand and kissed it.
In less than five minutes, we made it into the city.
Chaos filled the air, people running around to hide from the vicious, dark, DEVILISH clouds above them. The scene was itself a bad indication.
What the hell was even going on??
I groan and unlatch my seatbelt, helping Jane get out of the car and holding her hand.
I can't trust the air around Jane to keep her safe, hence I need her right under my vision at all times. We weave through the crowd in the opposite direction of safety, reaching the highest building point to survey the clouds.
"What is THAT?" I look at Jane who points at a darker hole between the tufts of the swirling clouds.
The eye...?
We flinch greatly at the sudden light bolt hitting the surface of another large building, a few blocks away from us. The lightning bolt thundered so hard that the building crumpled down to the ground. A gush from my powers sent the people under the collapsing building to a safer place on the streets, all scattered away.
This is the time I fully put my powers into use, because this does NOT look something just a few bad witches and wizards could summon upon.
I hit my chest with my tight fists, closing my eyes as I let my elemental take its form over my body. Even just for those few seconds of my eyes being closed, my heart beat fast against my ribcage because I couldn't see Jane. I don't trust my wolf and be dependent on her scent.
"Jane, stay here." My voice is different when my elemental takes over me, an octave lower and grittier was my voice.
She quickly nods but holds my hands just before I take off into the vicious clouds.
"Please come back, safe..."
"I will always, to you, come back safe baby." I give her a piece of my heart, my kiss being delivered on her forehead which does so.
"Go" I leapt into the air, wind travelling against my shaped off ears of my form. My hands come above my head and form a streamline figure giving me faster access through the swirling winds just below the layer of darkness and I put more force to get into the eye of the dark, inverted whirlpool.
Pitch, light-absorbing darkness was the only thing I saw around me as I entered the doomed darkness. There was no gravity in here, I could just float around without any effort but that's even worse.
What the hell is this even—
"Ronald..." The voice was creepy and sent chills down my spine.
What if a Gridge lurked in here...?
"I admire the way you're thinking right now~" the voice called again but there was no one to point at. I torched with my own hands and threw flames all around me, trying to illuminate the space around me but it was of no avail. The darkness absorbed all the light and heat into it, not having the mercy to throw it back at me.
"Who are you!?" I yell into nothingness. A weird laughter of an echo is all I get. The voice is heard all around, like in a theatre. There was no actual source to spot on and attack.
"Oh. I'm disappointed. You don't know me, child?"
"Damn you, I'm not your child." I seethe through my teeth, attempting another fail attack with fire blazing around me for a few seconds like a ball, dispersing immediately.
Or more like being sucked into the darkness, because I was trying to keep the fire constant around me.
Wait. What if the energy is not just drained but sucked into and thrown somewhere else?? I can't risk the public to get scorched by my own powers.
The laughter resounds, again.
"That was very wise of you, Ronald."
This time...The voice sounded like it was floating right around me, not too far from where I'm levitating.
"Show yourself, coward!" I use the tactic but the laughter just mocks me. It seems to me that the trickster could read my mind.
"Oh I will, brave one. But let me offer you something before." I was curious and waited for the voice to speak back up, aimlessly looking around when all I saw was darkness.
"Join me."
I scoff at that.
"No. Way." I say sternly, letting the anger in me build as I channels my angelic powers. If it's the darkness what I assume, then the gods from above should be with me and help me through this situation from the trickster behind all this.
Even before I could let the golden white aura glow around me, the darkness disappears so suddenly, it leaves my rods and cones react from the instant sunlight which seeped into my eyes.
The floaters in my eyes are irritating and I rub them furiously, only seeing the blue dispatched onto the blanket above. There were stagnant white clouds instead of the swirling black ones, which made me pinch my skin just to be sure I'm not dead or dreaming nonsense.
I heard people yelling at a distance, and my eyes widened.
Because the distance wasn't so far away from where I was.
"I-its the elemental..." I heard a voice in my head.
Shoot.
