Feeling guilty is alright, because that ensures oneself that they have a heart. That they can sympathize and empathize with a person.
Jane feels the same.
"I'm sorry..." The magical words are uttered and the witch stops snarling just for a second.
"No you're not. No you are NOT!" The witch screams in distress and I can understand why. No one is going to tolerate anyone if they are wronged. Even if you are a princess or even a king, you are a person with a soul and the soul needs to be good to earn its immortality.
"You don't know what I've been through, Princess!" I wince at the way the witch growled the word. I stand stoic and unresponsive of anything as I keenly listen to their silent conversation.
"Then tell me dammit!"
I swear it was the first time I heard Jane shout like that.
"Right after you left me in the woods, I was abducted! I was changed into something you never wanted, you distrustful wench!!" I flinch this time when the witch screams obnoxiously.
"Now look at me. Look at what you've done to me...LOOK AT ME JANE!"
"I- I didn't know! I didn't know!! Okay!?" I scratch off the urge to approach Jane who crouches to the ground and cries her heart out. Her eyes are bawling out more tears than she could produce, the sight in itself breaking my heart but I need to remain quiet. It's their issue to resolve, but if they ask for help, I'm ready to give it to both of them.
"Cry as much as you want, Princess. Nothing's going to change what you've done. Did you not leave me alone in the middle of the woods, did you not fight with me...I would've been myself." The witch says in a heartbroken tone.
"I would've been your friend..." she adds, taking me aback as I release a silent gasp.
"Forgive me...forgive me, N-Natalie...I'm so so sorry..." Jane punches the floor underneath her to ease the agony in her heart.
"It was a silly fight but you decided to make it worse, Jane."
"I know. I know..."
"I just wanted you to know your guard was exploiting my mother, Jane. But he turned out to be your uncle. You got offended, you did get mad at me but I only wanted to let you know about the truth. You didn't listen to me, not completely, and we were left stranded in the middle of the woods. You left, happy and safe but you left me crying to the air and the ground. Jane, you could've just listened to me that day..." I hear the witch's voice crack at the end, my heart getting weak too.
"I know, I know but when I found out about it, you were already gone... Everyone thought you died, Nat. And yes, the man I call my uncle was punished to death after his dirty deeds came onto the surface. Your mother...along with several other women were avenged and given justice for from that monster. I'm so sorry Natalie..."
"I wish I could turn back time..."
"Me too..."
The two young women remain solemn giving me time to think about the scenario.
I could've never imagined Jane would turn her back on her own friend who just wanted to say nothing but the truth about the monstrosity of the princess's uncle. There was no reason to support Jane, because she should've heard her friend out before anything.
Trust and loyalty is what keeps a relationship between two individuals healthy and stable, it's an essential element in life. Jane couldn't believe what she was hearing, hence she decided upon not trusting her own friend who was in grief.
Oh, now I want to bring that sick bast*rd back to life and kill him again and again for all his wrongdoings.
I suppress the great anger in me and channel it into listening to their yet another silent conversation. After awhile, Jane rises back to her feet and watches her friend through the bars.
"Please forgive me, Natalie. I- I'm sure there's a way you can become a werewolf again." she says that hastily and looks towards my direction, swinging her hand in the air, gesturing me to come to her.
The useless barrier is dismissed and I step into the light of the flame.
"R-Ron, is there any way to bring her back to normalcy? I- I mean being her back to being a—"
"Werewolf?" I help her and she nods her head stiffly.
"Yes. There is..."
I muse at the priceless reactions on their faces when I had said that.
Of course, the process is hard and might take days or even weeks, but it's not impossible.
Witches and wizards are the epitome of dark magic, for they have mastered and channel dark energies through their bodies.
All it takes is a huge, precise amount of white energy from the angels to bring back the wolf in her soul.
"It's possible. But woman, I'm trusting you because I know you could change, only if you wish to."
"Yes yes! I want to become a werewolf again! I don't like this life..." I feel bad when she says that, and I set my mind upon helping the woman out of her darkness.
"I'll let the king know about this first. Please wait for until we convince the king." I say nicely.
"Do whatever you need to, but please, let me feel myself again..." The sadness laced in her voice pinches my heart and I want to release her from the chains right away, but that won't solve anything.
So I give her a smile and drag Jane away and begin to walk out if the dungeons.
"How was the surprise?" I ask notoriously, for the sake of reading her as we walk through the hallways to the throne room, to where her father was.
"I hate surprises." she says, a smile on her face. But when she jumps in front of me and hugs me tightly, I couldn't stop the grin and the chuckle that left my mouth.
"This is what I love about you. You are different, Ron. I love you so, so much. I don't know what I would do without you." she says with heart full of love and sincerity which brings tears to my eyes.
I shake my head and caress her hair, holding her close to me as I say,
"You're everything I want and everything I have. I'd be a fool to not do what's best for you. And I've not forgotten my promise, honey bear..." I swing her body in my embrace.
"...I'm going to keep you safe and happy forever."
