Chapter 28

“Thanks for meeting me.” Emily Williams told me. She was the woman I met on the panel at the book fair. We sat in the restaurant at the bottom of Writing Mills Publications and had lunch. It was Sunday afternoon and there was still no sign of Naomi. I tried calling her this morning but I couldn’t reach her or Michaela for some reason. I managed to get Zendé’s number from Harper but he wasn’t answering as well. I wanted to drive to their house but I decided not to. I didn’t want to come off as ‘clingy’ or someone with trust issues so I just stayed at home, until Ms Williams called that is.

“I didn’t really have anything better to do.” I replied as we began eating. “What are you doing in town, if I may ask?”

“I had a meeting with one of the editors upstairs.” She explained.

“Are you planning on joining the Writing Mill?”
