Make a Waffle Batter

They were all talking to each other for the past minutes after the situation had been settled while also finishing the meals they had ordered.

It was all going normal until Evelyn suddenly slammed the table, causing Brian and Charlie to go silent out of shock.

Charlie chuckled at the way Brian acted after Evelyn slammed the table and then gave her a look to ask her what was wrong.

"Guys, it's 4 in the evening already. We haven't made any waffle batter for tomorrow yet!!" She whispered yelled in panic at the realization.

"You're right!" Both Charlie and Brian said at the same time, following Evelyn's alarmed expression.

"While we're already here, let's just make it now! Don't worry, the bakery has enough workers already so my absence wouldn't be that big of a deal," Charlie suggested, reassuring them about the customers.

"Here's the ingredients. You guy are lucky enough that i brought it on the way here," Brian said as he pulled out all of the ingredients from his bag.

"You're a genius man," Charlie complimented him as he took the items from Brian and put it onto the table. Evelyn on the other hand, was in deep focus with her phone. She swiftly typed and scrolled on the screen. It seems like she was searching for something.

"What are you doing?" Brian asked due to his curiosity. He found it strange that she suddenly went quiet and was so caught up with her phone.

"Oh, I'm searching for a waffle recipe," she said, her eyes never leaving the bright screen as she continued on scrolling on the device.

"Recipe? No need. I know how to make the batter," Charlie said, slightly bragging about it. He doubtlessly knew the steps on making a waffle batter as he had helped his grandmother made some before.

"Oh, then why didn't you tell us that earlier?!" Evelyn said in disbelief, putting her phone aside as she then paid full attention to Charlie.

"Come with me to the kitchen," Charlie said, gesturing them to follow him as he made his way to the kitchen.

"Okay, so we're gonna need to make extras so that we could test it whether it would bake perfectly like in the cafes or not," Charlie said, acting as if he was a chef while he explained the steps. His attitude made Brian and Evelyn chuckled at his goofiness. They both proceeded to pay attention to him, nodding every now and then to what Charlie was saying as a sign that they understood him.

"Let's start!" Brian said, suddenly fired up to make the batter. Charlie went to the shelf full of bowls and grabbed a perfect sized bowl for them to make the batter in. He then placed it on the table they were working on.

Afterwards, Brian put in 2 cups of flour, 1 spoon of sugar, a pinch of salt, 1/2 spoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, melted butter and cooking oil into the bowl.

Evelyn then grabbed 2 grade B eggs and separated the egg white and the egg yolk in different bowls. Then, she took the egg yolk and poured in half a cup of water. She proceeded to mix them and poured it into the bowl of the dry ingredients Brian had made. Charlie beat the remaining egg white that Evelyn had separated before and added it to the main bowl. Brian used a hand mixer and mixed all of the ingredients in the bowl.

"Charlie, where's the waffle maker?" Evelyn asked, looking around the kitchen.

"Oh, it's over there," He pointed at the waffle maker, not too far from where they were. Evelyn grabbed the batter and brought it to the waffle maker. She then slowly poured in the right amount to the machine.

"Now we wait," said Charlie, feeling a but eager for the outcome. While they were waiting, they all cleaned the kitchen as it was messy from their clumsiness.

DING! The sound caught all of their attention as they then rushed towards the machine, excited for the waffle.

Charlie opened the waffle maker and slowly took the waffle out of the machine and placed it onto a small plate. He sliced it for them to try.

Evelyn applied melted chocolate onto hers whilst Charlie had strawberry jam. Brian offered himself with a blueberry jam. They all decided to put peanut butter on the last slice.

"It's done!" They all said in sync, relieved. It was a coincidence that there were 4 customers waiting for their orders in the bakery.

"Let's make them try our waffle," Brian suggested and both Evelyn and Charlie nodded in agreement at the idea. They brought the plate to the table and politely asked them to try the waffle. To their luck, the customers agreed.

"So, how was it?" Evelyn asked in anticipation, fidgeting with her fingers as she felt nervous waiting for ther response.

"Hmmm," the four of the customers hummed.
