Breakfast Part 1

Evelyn decided to wear a long-sleeved shirt along with a pair of long jeans before heading to the location that Charlie had sent to her. The reason why she had specifically chose to wear that outfit was because so that she could hide the marks and bruises on her body that was caused by her father's beating. She didn't want the bruises to be seen by other people surrounding her, especially Charlie. She was trying her best so that Charlie wouldn't know about her situation at home and she also didn't want to worry him.

That morning, Evelyn seemed very bright and cheerful despite having to deal with the pain on her body that was still stinging. She didn't let those things get to her anymore since she was already so used to it. It's true how that night was not the first time that she got beaten by her father and in fact, she was already getting those treatments ever since she was a small innocent 6 year old. After her mother's death, her father had changed drastically. But then again, she was already used to her father's behaviour.

She decided play some music while she was on her way to the location that Charlie had sent to her. She was jamming to the song ever so carelessly that she didn't even realize that the traffic light had turned green. At the exact time that she had walked to cross the road, a car was also driving on the same road at full speed. She was so close from getting ran over by the car but she was fortunate enough that someone had been there to save her on time. Evelyn was grabbed on her shoulder and had been pulled back away from the road. Her whole body shook as she realized that she almost got ran over by a car and could've possibly ended up dead. Her heart beat became unstable as she watched the car stopped in front of her. The window rolled down to reveal a furious looking man.

"You tryna die, you little brat?!" He yelled at Evelyn's face, releasing his anger towards her. The guy looked like he was in his 50s already. Evelyn pulled out her airpods and looked at him with guilt.

"I'm so sorry, sir. That was totally my fault! I didn't focus on the traffic light," She apologized, frightened that the man would do something to her. She admitted that she was at fault and she felt really bad about it. She could've been more careful when she was crossing the road but instead she was so focused on listening to the song that was blasting in her airpods. The man's expression slowly changed into a soft one. He was satisfied that she was brave enough to admit to her own wrong behaviour. He slightly nodded his head before rolling up his window and drove away from there.

Evelyn watched as the man's car drove past her before realizing that she was still in someone's arms. She pushed the person's arms away from her shoulders and immediately turned around to look at the person's face. She stayed there in shock when she realized who it was. There he stood, right before her eyes, Charlie with his adorable little smile.

"Are you okay?" He asked, sounding a bit worried. Evelyn replied to his question was a simple nod. Charlie heaved out a relieved sigh, happy after knowing that he had successfully saved her from getting ran over by the car.

"Thank you for saving me," Evelyn said, scratching the back of her neck as she thought back about her reckless behaviour. She was so grateful that Charlie just happened to be there on time to save her.

"You're welcome. We're best friends anyway and that's what best friends do," Charlie replied, sending her a small genuine smile. His words had instantly made Evelyn felt a bit dissapointed all of the sudden.

"We're just best friends? But why am I so sad about it?" Evelyn thought to herself, confused as to why she was so dissapointed after knowing that Charlie only thought of her as his best friend. Suddenly, a girl that was wearing a rather skimpy dress appeared to the scene. She brought her hands to cling onto Charlie's arm and Charlie was of course taken aback by her action. Evelyn that was witnessing the situation was finally brought back to earth as her thoughts flew away from her mind. She looked at the girl while her heart was filled with anger.

"Oh Luna. H-hi?" Charlie greeted her awkwardly. He felt odd after Luna had suddenly appeared in front of him and decided to hug his arm as if it was nothing. It was clear on her face that she didn't feel strange about her action.

"I didn't think I would meet you here, Charlie," the girl said with her high-pitched voice, trying to sound cute in front of him. She purposely acted as if Evelyn wasn't there as she clung onto Charlie even more closer. Evelyn saw how Luna's intention was to try and make her mad however, Evelyn just gave her a disgusted face in return.

"She really have no shame, does she? Showing up all of the sudden and then hug someone's arm as if it's normal. What is wrong with her?" Evelyn thought as she rolled her eyes at Luna, feeling annoyed by her action.

"Don't you wanna greet me too?" Evelyn said through her gritted teeth. She finally decided to speak up after she had silence herself since Luna came. She was only getting even more angry as she watched how clingy Luna was being. She was also mad at how Luna had ruined her thoughts about spending time with Charlie alone.

"Oh you— I mean, Evelyn. Oops, sorry I didn't realize you had been standing there," Luna replied, sending her an innocent yet mocking smile.

"By the way, where are you guys going? Can I—" before Luna had the chance to end her sentence, Charlie had cut her off in an instant.

"Book store! Yeah! We're going to the book store. We wanted to buy some books and then go study at the library. You wanna join?" Charlie lied through his words. He knew that she wanted to join them so he had to lied to her, hoping that his lies would drive her away. He didn't want Luna to ruin his plans on getting breakfast with Evelyn. Luna thought to herself for a while. It's true that she's one of the top 10 students at school, but she definitely didn't have any interest whatsoever in studying at the library. To her, studying at the library was one of the most boring thing ever. So, she decided to not join them and gave up for that day.

"Oh, that's fine. I'll get going now. I forgot that I have things to do today. Bye Charlie!" She waved at Charlie before running away from them both.

"Wow Charlie. I didn't know you're a good liar," Evelyn said, smiling proudly at him. She didn't think that Charlie would lie to Luna and said that they were going to the library. But either way, she felt relieved knowing that Luna had bought Charlie's lie and decided to not join them that day. Charlie laughed at her comment, making Evelyn laughed along with him.

"Haha, I just don't like her vibe. I don't know why," Charlie confessed, chuckling at his own words. It seemed that Charlie also didn't like Luna. Evelyn was happy to hear about Charlie's opinion on Luna. It made her smile to herself, lost in her own thoughts for a while again.

"Okay, let's go the cafe!" Charlie said, his smile never fading away from his face. His sudden voice had brought Evelyn back to earth as she quickly thought of a response.

"Let's go!" She said while smiling ear to ear. They both started to make their way to the cafe together. They were both definitely happy that their plan on getting breakfast together succeeded.
