Breakfast Part 2

Evelyn and Charlie felt full already from the breakfast that they had just munched on. They stood up from their seats and went towards the counter to pay.

Charlie ended up paying for the both of them and Evelyn of course, thanked him for his good deed. Once Charlie was done paying for the bill, they both walked out of the cafe side by side.

"Slurppp," was the noise that Charlie heard coming from Evelyn and her americano. She was drinking the coffee that she didn't get to finish while they were at the cafe. Satisfaction could be seen from her beaming face, making Charlie laughed at the sight before him. Charlie was amazed by Evelyn's change of personality. In school, she seemed very strict and would instantly snap at anyone if they did something wrong in front of her. She was one of the most responsible student afterall. However in reality, Charlie realized that she's also just a normal girl who's very bright and cheerful to her surroundings.

"Cute," was all that Charlie thought about when he looked at her in that state. Evelyn's mind stopped when she felt like she was getting stared at. She then realized that Charlie was walking beside her. It turned out that Evelyn forgot that she had just ate breakfast with Charlie a few minutes ago and that she was walking with Charlie.

"This is so embarrassing.." Evelyn thought as she tightly closed her eyes. She opened her eyes and brought her head to face the ground as her face started to heat up. Her cheeks reddened as she grew more embarrassed beside Charlie.

"Hey hey, are you okay?" Charlie immediately asked after witnessing her cheerfulness disappeared all of the sudden. He was worried that something might had happened to her without him even knowing nor noticing. Evelyn quickly brought her head up again and looked at Charlie who had a worried expression on his face. She then replied to his question with a smile.

"I'm fine! Hehe," She reassured, taking another sip from her americano. Charlie's eyes never left Evelyn, not that he intended to do so anyway. He didn't understand why but he just didn't want to stop looking at her. Something about her presence made him feel calm on the inside and it made him so happy. Charlie's thoughts were stopped when he saw crumbs near Evelyn's lips. He figured that it came from the avocado toast that they had from the cafe. Evelyn walked towards the nearby bin to throw away her finished americano when all if the sudden, her name was called. She threw the cup straight into the bin and turned around to look for the person. She was taken aback when she realized how close Charlie was in front of her.

"There's something on your face," Charlie said, giggling a little as he took out a tissue from his pocket. He then proceeded to use the tissue to wipe the crumbs off of Evelyn's face. Evelyn was so shocked by his sudden action that she couldn't even move. She never thought that Charlie would ever do that to her and it made her so red she looked like an actual tomato. Charlie saw her expression and he realized what he had just did. He also saw how small the gap was between them. He immediately backed off from her so that she wouldn't feel uncomfortable by him. He then apologized to her for his careless action.

"Uh, sorry Lyn," he quietly said, feeling guilty because he thought he had made her upset.

"It's fine, you didn't do anything wrong. Thanks.. for wiping it off by the way," she giggled in between of her sentences in order to not make Charlie feel bad about himself. She didn't want him to feel guilty because he really did not do anything harmful to her. Charlie smiled at her response and replied to her.

"You're welcome," he said as he felt relieved about his previous action.

"So, where are we going next?" Evelyn questioned, wondering where would Charlie take her to. Charlie thought for a while, silencing himself so that he could think better. He took a glance at his watch and was shocked at the sight. He realized that it was in the afternoon already so he made his final decision to take Evelyn back to her house.

"Uhm, I'll send you home now because I have to—" his sentence was cut off by Evelyn all of the sudden. Evelyn's face displayed nothing but sadness when she realized that Charlie wanted to send her back to her home. She was frightened at the thought of her father meeting Charlie. She knew that Charlie would be beaten badly by her father just like how Kevin got beaten everytime he came to her house.

"Nahh, it's fine Charlie, you don't have to. I have to go to the convenient store right now anyway. I'll get going now. Bye!" She explained as she then walked away from Charlie, leaving him all by himself. Charlie was still processing the situation after Evelyn had left him.

"Did I said something wrong to her?" He thought as he grew curious if he had made her upset again. He could only watch as Evelyn became smaller from his sight. She then disappeared after she turned left and his view was blocked by the building. Evelyn walked fast after she knew that Charlie couldn't see her anymore. Suddenly, she was pulled by someone.

"HEY!— Oh, it's you," Evelyn almost yelled because she thought she was getting kidnapped by someone. However, that was not the case. The person who had pulled her was indeed someone that Evelyn knew very well. It was none other than Luna who had pulled her from behind. Her expression was enough to tell Evelyn that she was very much mad at her.

"You, did you hypnotized Charlie to not be friend with me?" She immediately asked, sounding angrier than normal. Her face was red from how angry she was at Evelyn. Her heart was boiling in rage at the sight of Evelyn's face alone. However, instead of being scared, Evelyn smirked. She was satisfied that Luna was clearly jealous of her.

"I don't think I have to explain to Charlie about your nasty personality for him to distance himself from you. You're clearly annoying. Do you think a guy like him would even look at a girl like you?" Evelyn mocked, feeling satisfied of the look on Luna's face. Her words had definitely made Luna even more furious than before. She gritted her teeth as her anger grew greater. She immediately let her anger out on Evelyn without even thinking. She slapped her on her cheek as hard as she could. Evelyn covered her red cheek with her hand. All she felt was nothing but pain on her cheek.

"I knew you wouldn't accept the truth. You know what? I'm done talking to you," Evelyn spat out, giving no reaction whatsoever to the slap that she had received. In fact, she seemed calm. She was done dealing with Luna's behaviour. She had no interest in fighting a person like her. She then pulled herself away from Luna's grasp and left her without thinking twice. Luna balled up a tight fist, containing her anger that never disappeared. Her desire to get revenge only worsen.

Charlie had just arrived in front of Granny Nancy's bakery. He smiled at the familiar smell of baked goods inside of the bakery. He immediately pushed the door and walked in to greet his grandmother.

"Sorry, I got here a little late," Charlie apologized to the old woman standing behind the counter. It seemed like Granny Nancy was talking to someone and something about her expression told Charlie that she wasn't so satisfied with the person. He realized that his grandmother was finally aware of her own grandchild's arrival and she was about to say something to him.

"Char—" the person that she was just talking to cut her off when they saw that Charlie was standing behind him.

"Hi Charlie," greeted the person to Charlie. Charlie's eyes widened as he realized who it was.
