City Hospital.
Ava wanted to leave early today as she was going to the detention center, so after the lunch break, she decided to check on Michael in ICU. He was stable at the moment but was yet to wake up, Ava checked his vitals, and everything looked normal. So she left some instructions on his board and left the ICU to go back to her office. However, the moment she walked out of the room she saw Oliver walking toward the ICU.
Ava saw Mia trying to stop him. "Mr. Knight, I'm sorry but you can't go inside." Mia stuttered as she looked at the god-like figure in front of her. She has only seen him in magazines or newspapers. Now that he was in front of her she couldn't hold back her excitement.
Oliver didn't even look at Mia he was staring at the woman who was standing in front of the ICU with a pale face. Oliver smirked seeing the fear in her eyes, he walked straight toward her.
Ava stood there like a frozen dummy not knowing what to do. Why was he here again? Should she stop him or mind her own business? As Ava was coming up with a solution about what to do, Oliver moved past her completely ignoring her, and opened the ICU room door. He was about to enter when Ava said in a panic tone, "Mr. Knight, I'm sorry but you can't enter the ICU like that."
"Why? What's the problem? My uncle is in there and I need to see him." Oliver said in a deep magnetic voice pretending to be very worried.
Ava was taken aback by his worried tone, if she didn't know any better she would really think he was worried about his uncle's wellbeing, however, she knew better. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing!
Ava decided to play along, she took a deep breath and said in a firm tone, "Mr. Knight I understand that you are worried about your uncle but he is not out of danger yet and according to the hospital regulations no one is allowed to visit him for the time being."
"The rules are set by people and can be changed. Dr. Green, if you can go inside why can't I? If you need to take any precaution, I'm willing to cooperate but I must see my uncle." Oliver argued but he was behaving decently unlike yesterday.
Ava almost choked at his words, she couldn't understand how could one man change his face so frequently. "Mr. Knight, rules are there for a reason. If you could break them so easily without caring about the consequence then don't you think everything would be chaos? Besides The rules are here for the best interest of the patient, we don't want the patient to be contaminated by any bacteria, hence we are being strict about not letting anyone inside. You are a reasonable person, I am sure you understand it!" Ava said in a sweet voice.
Oliver's lips curved into a slight smile as he thought this woman was very good at holding her ground but she didn't know who was standing in front of her, it was losing battle for her no matter what she does. He said looking thoughtful, "I understand Dr. Green, but I can't leave without seeing my uncle today. If I have to wait, I will wait here all night." Oliver sat down on the bench outside the ICU folding his arms on his chest.
Ava rolled her eyes and thought, isn't he the CEO of KNIGHT International, how is he so free? Ava was frustrated, she realized he won't leave without seeing his uncle today. In fact, it was not difficult for him to enter the ICU, if he made one call to director Davis, he would personally come here and accompany this man inside the ICU. So why was he sitting here and arguing with her? Suddenly something occur to Ava and she realized he was here not to see his uncle, he was here to make things difficult for her because she put Michael in the ICU. He must have realized she was trying to protect Michael, this cunning man!
Ava rubbed her temple feeling a headache coming then said annoyed, "Mr. Knight you cannot just sit here all night, you know. Fine! Since you are so determined to see your uncle, I will accompany you inside, but let me warn you if he catches any infection because of your visit, you will be responsible for that."
"Oh, Doctor Green you are really funny, why will I be responsible? This is your hospital and you should be responsible for each patient's health and safety". Oliver said nonchalantly.
Ava stared at him speechless then said clenching her teeth, "How is it my responsibility? I advised you not to go in, but you are being so persistent to see your uncle. Now if anything happens to him you will have to bear the consequences."
