520 Haibin road.
Looking at the dark house from outside, Ava stood at the door and hesitated for a while before she swiped her card quietly, opened the door, and walked inside. Who knew, the moment she would take a step in, the living room would be bright as day. Before Ava could react, she saw Oliver with a black face, sitting on the sofa. Oh boy! Was he angry?
"Did you finally have time to come home?" Oliver's eyes were dim, he said gnashing his teeth, his face was very cold.
Ava swallowed "Didn't I texted to inform you that I will be late? You didn't say anything, so why are you angry?" Ava said slowly, looking at Oliver's gloomy face, she became fully sober.
"Oh." Oliver sneered cynically, and there was a rage in that one word, "I didn't return your message? Ava, you are really funny. Open your WeChat and see if I have texted you back or not! "
Oliver was really really angry. This woman is dead, he sent her a dozen messages one after another, asking her to come home for dinner earlier, but she didn't reply to any of his messages and now she was claiming that he didn't return her message, unbelievable!
This time, Ava was at loss. She quickly took out her phone from her bag, unfortunately, Oliver not only replied to her, he actually sent her a dozen messages. The hand that was holding the mobile phone trembled slightly. Ava stood at the same spot, not entering, not retreating. She only knew that she made him angry again. This time she really messed it up.
Ava looked down like a child who had just made a mistake. She couldn't look at him right now, she simply said ''sorry''.
"Explain! Why did you come back so late?" Oliver looked at her, his eyes were so cold that they could freeze people.
"As I mentioned in the massage it was one of my colleague's birthday tonight, he invited the whole team so I had to attend it," Ava said in a low voice, she didn't want to provoke Oliver any further.
"What colleagues? Male or female? How many people went there?" Like an interrogation, he started to throw a series of questions.
Ava was surprised. She didn't expect Oliver to be so controlling. Why was he asking all these questions, It's not like she was on a date. However, Ava didn't want to focus on it right now.
She was witty when answered, "It's the whole cardiology department, men and women all were there." In order to avoid Oliver's suspicion, Ava added, "Total seventeen people were there."
"Quit the hospital job," Oliver spoke slowly, without raising his voice.
"What!! Why?" Ava was shocked hearing him and now was getting angry, what did she do wrong that he asked her to resign, what will she do if she quit.
"I don't like women, who come home drunk." Oliver suddenly stood up and the light hit his side face, the thick eyelashes formed a shadow, under the shadow of the eyes was an invisible emotion.
"If that's the reason then I won't drink in the future, but it's too much for you to ask me to resign," Ava said calmly, her beautiful hazel eyes looked at him seriously.
"Too much? Really Miss Ava Green? I've been waiting for you since I got off work, until now. I haven't even had dinner. You think this is too much?" Oliver was completely enraged. He was like an uncontrollable beast, swearing at Ava.
He hadn't had dinner yet? Ava was dumbfounded. OMG! He was waiting for her and had not had dinner! That's why he was so grumpy and angry, she thought.
"Why are you so stupid not to have dinner?" Ava asked quietly as walked toward Oliver.
Oliver could smell the wine from her body, he suddenly recalled the incidents this woman faced because of drinking. Oliver felt very uncomfortable in his heart. He frowned, and his eyes became grim.
He didn't answer her, instead, he asked her patiently: "Ava, do you know that last time you went to the bar and met a rogue, you were drugged?"
Ava's eyes flashed a panic she stared at Oliver with a mind full of doubts.
Oliver was upset at her reaction, his dark eyes shrank as he said, "Don't look at me like that, I didn't ask people to put medicine on your drink, that was the second time you were drugged, by being so careless and drinking with anyone you did that to yourself, Ava ."
Ava didn't know what to say, her mind was blank, she was drugged ..Again?
"As a woman, you should have self-respect and self-love," Oliver warned coldly.
"What do you mean by that? You're saying that I don't love myself" Hearing Oliver, Ava got a little upset.
"Isn't it? Dignified women don't get drunk and come home after midnight." Oliver's words were cold, and there was even a trace of contempt in his deep dark eyes.
Ava felt uncomfortable seeing his eyes. Even though she was angry at him for bossing around her like that, she knew what he said was true and tonight she did make a mistake. Therefore there was no choice for her but to swallow his words.
She entered the kitchen quietly to make something for Oliver. She found frozen shrimp in the freezer she took them out and started to prepare seafood noodles with vegetables, while cooking she cursed Oliver for going to heaven earlier. Such a vicious person really shouldn't live on earth. If it was more than a month she had to endure this man, she would probably go crazy.
"Eat." Ava came out of the kitchen with the bowl of noodles and put it on the table.
Seeing the apron on her body Oliver looked at her up and down. There was one word in his mind: virtuous. Oliver suddenly dreamed of a future, to have a wife who would cook for him like that, she would love him very much and give him a lovely daughter. A family of three would live in this villa happily. However, when his eyes fell on Ava's face, everything changed his eyes become cold. It was indeed a dream. The person he loved and wanted the most was not Ava.
Although Ava was slow to respond, she still noticed the change in Oliver's eyes but she didn't say anything instead she stood there silently.
It took Oliver a long time to sit down. He stared at the food as if he wanted to see through them.
"Don't worry, I didn't put poison in there," Ava said jokingly she thought Oliver was staring at the food because he doubted her to poison it. To be honest, she also had that thought but didn't dare.
"I'm sorry but I don't think you have the nerve." Oliver picked up the chopstick and began to it, he was really hungry and could not think clearly.
Ava sat on the opposite side, with her hands on her cheeks, and watched Oliver finish eating. He ate gracefully without making any sound. Ava also received such education since childhood about eating with manner. Over the years, she had been cursing her mother until she saw Oliver eating the same way. It just reflected that he had a restrained life.
Since childhood, Lily had taught her that she couldn't make sounds while eating, so Ava had developed this habit. But sometimes, when she was really hungry, she just liked to devour her food.
"What are you thinking?" Oliver finished the food with satisfaction.
"Well, how was it, was it ok?" Ava smiled softly. She wasn't feeling nervous anymore.
"Just so so." Oliver smiled, but silently praised the taste of the food. He would never tell her that he loved it.
