Oliver's Promise

Oliver walked very fast, Ava had to run to catch up with him which was very difficult in her high-heeled shoes. When she reached the underground parking, she couldn't see him. She looked around but he was nowhere, she stood there uncertainly thinking if he had already left, suddenly a strong force took her in his arm. Ava was about to shout when she felt the familiar embrace and then his lips were on her without any warning, an overbearing possessive kiss.

Ava didn't protest at all in fact she enjoyed his kiss and even kissed him back eagerly. It seems she was already used to such intimacy with him. After what felt like an eternity Oliver let her go. Ava's face was flushed and her lips were swollen, it took a while for her to get her mind back on track. When she did she started to organize her thoughts about how to explain what happened today.

Ava bit her lips and called his name in a very gentle and low voice, "Oliver."

Oliver was surprised at her tone which was husky and very seductive, he never heard her call him like that. He had the urge to take the women then and there, however, he just asked with a cold face, "What?"

"I'm sorry, I'm really really sorry. I didn't mean to stay at the hospital for this long but when I was about to leave my cousin was sent to the hospital. She fainted at school and was not in a good condition so I could not leave her alone. I was so anxious that I forgot my phone at my office. I know I should have let you know earlier, I'm sorry." Ava lowered her head and apologized to Oliver.

Hearing her reasoning and looking at her guilty face, Oliver finally calmed down. It was an unexpected incident and he could not blame her for that.

"How is your cousin now?" Oliver asked casually.

"She's not very well, but she's back at school," Ava said sadly.

Oliver hated to see Ava's sad face. He only wanted to see her smiling.

"What happened to her?" Oliver asked without any expression.

In fact, he just put that face to hide his worries about her, he didn't want her to know he really cared about her and anything or anyone that was related to her. He didn't even know when Ava became so important to him.

"Can we go home first, I'll tell you everything on the way." Ava was really tired and stressed.

Oliver led her to his car. They got in the car and Ava told him everything that happened to Sarah since yesterday till she left the hospital.

Seeing Ava in pain and stressed, Oliver's heart ached for her and he became very upset.

They reached home within 10 minutes. When Ava entered the villa, she didn't see Mrs. Lee anywhere, but there was food on the table with two sets of tableware. Ava instantly realized that Oliver hadn't had dinner.

"Haven't you had dinner yet?" Ava spoke carefully.

Oliver didn't answer. Ava felt really upset at that moment. Why did he always do that, take his anger on his food? Now she was feeling guilty for eating with Sam and Sarah when she promised him to cook and have dinner together.

She stepped forward and hugged Oliver's strong waist tightly.

This sudden action stirred an unknown desire in Oliver's heart. He squinted his eyes and looked at her.

"Are you trying to seduce me? Do you know the consequences of that?" Oliver said in a low and cold tone, giving her a warning.

"I don't care about the consequences, I'm really sorry for tonight. It's my fault and I won't let it happen again." Ava said in a low voice and still held him tightly.

She put her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat which was beating very fast. Ava understood that her sudden action was affecting him after all she was a cardiologist, she could understand the human heart better. It confused her, does that mean he liked her, or was it just his physical reaction?

"You're not afraid I'll eat you?" Oliver asked raising his eyebrows, he was enjoying the way she was hugging him tightly.

He didn't even remember when was the last time, he was hugged by someone like that. At that moment Ava's body temperature, her fragrance seemed to stimulate Oliver's brain nerves and he felt electrified.

Ava felt shy hearing him she blushed, still gathered her courage, and said biting her lips "You can eat me but before that, you need to have some food."

'Wow! Was she giving him permission and willingly?' Oliver took a meaningful look at her and thought she really knew how and when to use her charm. Oliver was satisfied with her initiative even though he knew she was doing it because of her guilty conscience. He sat down obediently at the dining table.

Ava looked at him happily with a beautiful smile on her face. She sat down beside him and served food on his plate. Ava was watching him eating silently but she was so tired her eyelids were getting heavy and in no time she fell asleep on the table.

Looking at her Oliver felt helpless, why did she have to work so hard, she looked so tired. He took her in his arm and head toward their bedroom. Looking at her sleeping face he didn't know why he felt a joy in his heart. He somehow felt complete.

Once again Oliver's heart was very conflicted, the first time he saw Ava playing 'Stars' he hated her very much. He just wanted to destroy her, but when he got to know her he found that Ava was actually a lovely woman. She was different from other women. She never asked for anything, the only wish she probably had to leave him.

At that thought, Oliver clenched his fist and his face become hard. He would not let that happen, he will never let her leave. The problem was he wanted her to stay with him willingly, which seems to be a little difficult. Or not. All he had to do was to charm her and make her fall in love with him so that she would never leave him. A satisfying smile appeared at the corner of his lips thinking that.

Oliver picked up his mobile phone and called Uncle Joe.

"Uncle Joe, help me investigate the incident involving Sarah at Beijing No. 4 High School. I'll give you 2 days to find out who was behind it and when you do make them disappear from the city." Oliver said coldly, looking down at the woman who was sleeping peacefully on the bed, unconsciously a smile appeared on his cold face.

"OK." Uncle Joe replied respectfully.

After hanging up the phone Oliver lay down on the bed, took Ava in his arm, and stared at her for a long time, in the dim moonlight she looked like an angel. Her flawless face, red lips, pink cheeks were so beautiful, so innocent. Looking at her he made a promise to himself, 'Ava, I will never let you suffer any grievances again.'

It was their bitter past that bought them together, Oliver couldn't let go of the past maybe that's why he found Ava. Both of them were connected by the past whether they wanted it or not. As for Ava Oliver could guess that it was because of the accident she stopped playing piano and got into medicine.

But the accident that intertwined their fate together, whether it was a natural disaster or a pre-planned conspiracy it will always be a mystery.
